MY FEEDBACK ON SIDERATES - PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
Everything and even more is said about the benefits of the siderats, but there are still those who do not see the point of intentionally planting “weeds” on their beds.
And this article will just help all Foma unbelievers in this matter. However, even staunch supporters of organic farming will find in it a lot of instructive.
I really like the fact that readers write not only about success, but also tell in detail about their mistakes, thus saving each other from mistakes. I also want to share my experience, and it’s a good one or not, let the readers judge. I didn’t believe in the magical power of siderats right away, but when I realized what was happening, I wanted to sow everything at once and more. And four years ago I planted at different end of the season mustard, oats, oil radish, phacelia, yellow clover and beans.
DONNIK AS A SIDE
Well, there is nothing to say about the first three cultures, they are affordable and very quickly increase the green mass. But with clover I miscalculated. I sowed him in the middle of August, and by the end of October he had grown only by 5. I wanted to tie him up, but I decided to figure it out, and that's what it turned out.
This medicinal biennial plant of the legume family, which has the ability to thin the blood, preventing the formation of blood clots in it. In general, a very valuable medicine for the cores (and not only for them). Personally, I liked this recipe: I take 3 / 4 tsp. dry sweet clover, pour a glass of boiling water, insist 5 minutes and drink. The head is then clear-clear, because the infusion improves blood circulation in the brain. Only they should not be abused!
But I found out that the clover is not in vain considered to be an excellent sideratom: even if it has a not too thick mass of greenery, then, when embedded in heavy earth, it quickly turns it into light and loose.
Melilot is very unpretentious (frost-resistant, drought-resistant), and therefore will grow on such a land as pretty, at the same time cultivating it.
Its powerful roots go deep into 1,5 m and in excess accumulate nitrogen in the nodules located on them (and from there it goes to the ground). In addition, clover helps in the fight against the wireworm and discourages mice. It is recommended to mow green mass at a height of 60 cm, grinding it and immediately embedding it in the soil.
Why did I have a puncture with him? Too deeply the seeds were planted - you just need to see everything on 2-3, after which the soil should be rolled up. Now I am doing this, and there are no problems with the tributary.
FACELIAS AS A SIDERATE
Now I will tell you how I showed myself in my garden phacelia. Autumn 2012, the year was very rainy, in the garden could get bogged down to the knee. In the spring, it started to rain again, and a real swamp formed on the edge of the garden. When the soil dried out a little, I realized that nothing would grow there: the ground was so swollen that a shovel was not stuck in it. And on this wet asphalt, I sowed phacelia.
She rose, by the end of the summer was hilenko, but the soil suddenly became light, even airy. This led to the idea of planting phacelia on the beds freed from potatoes. She did. There she had time to wipe out much before winter, I cut it off and put it into the ground. In the spring, after planting potatoes, phacelia rose self-sowing and showed all its beauty! The plants were huge, they grew into potatoes and bloomed all summer.
Well, the hum was standing near them! All wasps, bumblebees and flies flew to pollinate them! And the potato harvest was simply amazing - I never saw such people.
Now I know about her: she scares off pests, prevents viral diseases of planting, enriches the soil with useful elements, structures it, deoxidates and forces out weeds.
I sow this green manure in the spring in the greenhouse, and then plant seedlings for him: it attracts pollinators and retains moisture in the soil.

Phaselia sow even to the tomatoes when I stop putting mulch on the beds: it enriches the soil with nitrogen and potassium, suppresses the nematode, reduces the amount of wireworms. Seeds before sowing slightly mixed with sand.
I liked the beans. And above all, by the fact that after I started planting them around the perimeter of the site (in three rows in a checkerboard pattern), all the moles immediately left. And also: I have used beans for many years in the fight against wireworms. Every spring a week before planting potatoes, I soak 700 seeds in warm water for a day. Then I pour it out, rinse the beans, pour it with cold water and put it in the fridge under the lid. Periodically I change the water, and when most of the seeds swell, I pour it all out. When I plant beans with potatoes, they already have seedlings from 5 to 8 mm. And plant with potatoes. Yes, I forgot to say that Russian black beans ripen earlier. Here I also plant them in early varieties of potatoes.
Ask who is the best? And here everything is very subjective - it depends on who has a problem in the garden. I personally liked all these siderats, because together they heal the soil and frighten the pests, and individually - help me in small things. In addition, they are all pretty unpretentious. You see for yourself how powerful mustard grows, sown on silty and fertilized soil! One can argue a lot about organic farming, but the fact that, rotting in the ground, a large mass of green gives a lot of nitrogen and strongly acidifies the soil.
Therefore, after harvesting any culture, I first imitate the earth, then sow the siderata and immediately water it with any humate. On the crops I do not like it. On my five hundred square meters it is better to sow in the fall early green manure: mustard, buckwheat, oil radishone should not forget that in the spring one cannot plant cabbage, radishes, turnips, daikon and other crucifers at this place.
Here, perhaps, that's all. I wish all gardeners good health, plenty of physical strength and rich harvests!
