GARDEN ON THE SILLER BY YOUR OWN HANDS
Vitamin Off Season
Who among summer residents does not yearn in winter for the garden and fresh fragrant fruits! There are no such. But there are especially restless gardeners, who arrange apartments in the apartments, pleasing themselves with summer gifts. Superfluous delights? May be. But they bring valuable experience, which is very useful in the new season.
Violet is the best argument
Each of us has our favorite cultures, to which we give priority when planting seedlings. Personally, I have among the first favorites of strawberries, especially since my little daughter Veronika is delighted with her (photo 1). Now she is three years old, and in the new season I'm going to plant a strawberry already in the summer cottage with her - let her get horticultural experience from an early age. Well, I, in turn, will continue to improve the skills of growing seedlings. I will tell you about my experience.
As the home garden beds I decided to use two balcony boxes 40 long, see. I made holes in their Donets and put both on a plastic tray, into which I poured water for irrigation. I especially want to note that I did not pour the drainage into the boxes. According to my observations, it contributes to the rapid drying of the soil, and it is very difficult to wet the earth lumps afterwards.
I now grow even violets without drainage, and they feel great, as seen in the 2 photo. But I was distracted. I continue. In the boxes, she poured the usual soil, taken from the garden, and, adding to it a little ash, planted in each of two tendrils a remontant strawberry of an unknown to me sort. One more tendril for the sample was placed in a liter flower pot and later became convinced that such a volume was too small for strawberries.
Wet Ass Bulbs
After planting, the seedlings first froze, then they decided to finally release new young leaves, and after a couple of weeks, two of the five bushes already had flower stalks (the rest bloomed a little later). I fed them as follows: I piled fresh banana peel into a liter jar, poured boiling water over it, and when the water cooled down, 2-3 drops the microbial droppings. Then added half a teaspoon of sugar, insisted five days, diluted with distilled water (1: 3) and watered the bushes. And she did it only as the soil dries.
I pollinated the flowers with a soft brush for drawing, transferring pollen from one plant to another. And my efforts were not in vain: the berries began to ripen and began to ripen, my daughter and I watched them with great impatience (photo 3). The first ripe fruit was solemnly divided in half - it turned out to be very sweet, although a little less fragrant than growing up on a bed. The rest of the berries began to ripen gradually, and throughout the winter I treated my baby with fresh tasty vitamins!
By the way, I forgot to mention one important point: the boxes with strawberries were highlighted with a special LED lamp for plants, which I located at a height of about 30 cm above the bushes.
Very strange, but this strawberry grown at home did not give a single mustache, and indeed by spring it looked rather exhausted. In early May, I landed her in the tree trunk circle of the old apple tree, and there she quickly took on the same fresh look.
Well, since I started talking about the garden on the windowsill, let me tell you about my second favorite, the onion. To grow it in an apartment, I came up with the following thing. I took the packaging from eggs (not cardboard, but made of foamed white material) and cut off the covers from them (photo 4). The fastening holes in the lids were covered with clay on both sides and I had small little saucers in which I put the remaining parts of the packages. At the same time, I cut the bottoms of the cells and put one small onion in each (photo 5). Poured a little the same composition as the strawberries, and put next to her on the windowsill.
Everything, the main thing is done, now it remains only to water. I poured water into saucers, and very carefully: I tried so that only the “butts” of the bulbs were moistened. The whole trick was that the onion root system was also in pallets and, as it grew, lifted the cells with the bulbs, allowing more water to be added.
If you want to get the greens early, you must soak the bulbs in the water on 1 hours. In the 6 photo, you can see how wonderful the onion has grown, besides these coasters look good on the windowsill. Especially next to the elegant strawberries.
This winter I will definitely try to grow arugula on the windowsill. So I will have my little edem!
