GIVING OWN HANDS
Little secrets of a big harvest
This year, despite the difficult weather conditions, I am not complaining about the crop. And they helped to achieve the result of cunning. Some people knew and used for a long time, others tested in action for the first time.
Eyelet - to the ground
So that cucumbers grow powerful and healthy, at the very beginning of growth, pinch the central stem over the eighth to ninth leaf, wrap it in a loop until the first fork, lay it on the bed so that 7-10 cm of the stem are on the ground, and sprinkle with wet soil. I tie the lashes to the trellis. As a result, a powerful root system is formed, the bush receives more moisture and nutrients and gives an excellent harvest until the fall. By the way, I noticed that with this method of growing, cucumbers almost never bitter, even if it was not possible to water them on time.
Barrel-stove for zucchini
This year I tried to grow early squash in barrels. In mid-April, the husband removed the bottom from the old 50-liter metal barrels. In the sunniest places of the garden, I dug holes for the diameter of barrels with a depth of 40 cm. I put rotten clippings of boards (20 cm) at the bottom, and a layer of fresh horse manure (30 cm) on top. Then I installed the barrels themselves. Thoroughly tamping, I poured half of the cut grass in them with humus in half, laid the previously excavated soil on top, spilled it with a warm solution of ammonium nitrate (1 tablespoon with a slide on 10 liters of water), covered it with a film. Two days later, she sowed the germinated seeds of zucchini (two per barrel). So that the metal does not heat up, painted with white paint. Grew up great! Fresh zucchini spoiled the family from the second half of May to October.
Four eggplant dressings
I spend the first dressing for eggplant seedlings on the 20 day after emergence: 3 g of potassium nitrate is mixed with 1 g of water-soluble superphosphate, diluted in 1 l of water and abundantly watered with the composition of the plant.
I do the second when planting seedlings on a bed: 20 g of Kristalon or Kemira Lux I dilute in 10 l of warm water, pour 1 l of solution in a hole, plant the plants directly in the mud.
The third top dressing - shortly before the beginning of the formation of inflorescences: 1 l infusion of mullein and 0,5 l infusion of chicken droppings I breed in 20 l of water, after watering I pour 1 l of composition for each bush.
The fourth, final, top dressing occurs at the beginning of eggplant ripening: I dissolve 0,5 l of chicken litter infusion in 10 l of water, add 10 g of dried yeast, 0,5 kg of chopped stems and nettle leaves, insist 3-4 of the day, thoroughly mixing once a day, before use I spread with water 1: 10.
Tomatoes upside down At the beginning of October, I rip up tomatoes with root, on which green fruits still remain. I hang them up with torch machines on the veranda closer to the window. And for almost a month we have been eating ripening tomatoes!

Pumpkin: grow a star
Pumpkin is one of the most wholesome dishes. Therefore, I pay special attention to the cultivation of this plant. And this year I tried a new technique - landing on a round bed. I was satisfied with the result. The fruits grew large, fragrant and matured well.
In the fall, in the most well-lit areas of the site, he arranged several compost heaps in the soil.
In the second half of May, a couple of days before sowing, I wrapped the pumpkin seeds in gauze, dipped in warm water and put it in a bag with a zipper. Left in a warm place. When the sprouts appeared, sowed seeds at a distance of 40 cm from each other in a circle at the very edge of the compost heaps. It turned out an average of five to six plants per heap.
Until the lashes of pumpkins reached a meter long, they were regularly watered abundantly (up to a bucket of water for each plant).
\ Shaped pumpkins in one lash, directing them perpendicular to the round bed. In the end, it all looked like a big octopus or star. On each lash I left two (maximum - three) fruits.
Over time, roots appeared in the internodes of the main lashes. In these places he sprinkled the stems with earth, so that the plants received more moisture and nutrients. Watering by this moment practically stopped, pumpkins and rare rains were enough.
Harvesting began in late August, and finally collected all the fruits in early September.
