10 tomato varieties that do not require pinching and tying - our reviews
VARIETIES OF TOMATOES WHICH DO NOT NEED TO SUMMON AND TYPE - OVERVIEW, PHOTO, TITLE AND DESCRIPTION
LOTUS AND TRAY FOR TAPES
Never before have we grown tomatoes in open ground - strong winds interfered. Because of them, all plants took a "stanzed" form. What was the windproof wall made of corn ... 50 cm high! Finally, a hedge grew, and for the experiment 10 tomato varieties were planted that did not require, as claimed, pinching and tying.
On the first May holidays, I planted seedlings for non-woven material. For insurance, I installed 2 layer arcs - internal, low, with a shelter density of 17g / sq. m, and external with a non-woven density of 60 g / sq. m. And the insurance came in handy! The last insidious frost tried to interrupt the 20 experiment in May, but frost did not reach the plants through a double fur coat.
Warm June allowed the tomatoes to set many fruits. At first, he got into favorites Lotus. Low, as stated, - only about 50 cm, it was literally hung with many fruits weighing about 100 g. So he asked for support first - the bushes literally collapsed under the weight of the pouring tomatoes. This variety really does not need pinching, the plant, having formed the 3-4 trunk, is "carried away" by fruiting. We removed approximately 2 kg of tomatoes from each bush, and almost 3,5 kg from one of the most productive ones. However, due to the cold and damp July, the ripening of the fruits was somewhat delayed, and as a result, we removed the first fruits from the tomato rosette.
This variety came to me from a collector, and you will not find its seeds in the store. It forms bushes, to put it mildly, of an outstanding appearance. On each of 2-3 low, about 30 cm, of the trunk, scattering on the surface of the beds. Small, inexpressive leaves ... and quite unexpectedly large, rounded, pink balls of tomatoes. Sweet, tasty, with thin skin - they decorated our table in early July. Rosette lays the first brush over the 5-6-m real sheet, so you can’t deepen the seedlings when planting in any case, otherwise the fruits will slide on the ground.
No ventilation! In dry weather, this is not critical, but in our case, with daily rains (despite the fact that I built a tunnel of dense non-woven material over the tomatoes), you can lose part of the crop. The fruits simply rot. It seemed to me that the main advantage of the variety is early ripening. But the total yield in the first year of cultivation was not impressive. Perhaps he should adapt to the local climate, as the seeds arrived from Volgograd. The rose can really be grown without tying, but you should consider the "crumbling" nature of the bushes and not plant them too close to one another.

However, the Mongolian dwarf with regard to the capture of living space, Rozochka, and everyone else, circumvented, as they say, in the semifinals. Outwardly, its bushes look very peculiar: they are low - up to 40 cm, but very wide. This variety does not need a garter. It forms a lot of stepsons, and plentiful foliage covers the bunches of fruits.
Even the impression is that the earliest tomatoes he grows directly from the trunk. Large, weighing 100-120 g, scarlet, rounded flat in shape, they began to ripen in our country from the third decade of July. The cut turned out to be fleshy, tomato flavor. Pretty decent for an early grade! Due to prolonged rains, the fruits cracked heavily. The variety turned out to be very productive, and for the future I will try to plant it in the "legs" for indices. The peculiarity of the variety is the slow development at the seedling stage, so that next year I will sow the seeds earlier, in mid-February. Fortunately, it almost does not stretch out!
Malinka For a long time I was an outsider. Yes, the bush is smart, standard, it stands without support and does not require pinching. But against the background of the rest, small, almost like cherry, fruits did not inspire. However, the variety was a secret. He first imposed a bunch of "peas", and then this pea began to pour. Here at this stage, the plants needed support! As a result, from each bush we removed 2,5-3 kg of fruits weighing 60-100 g each. Grade advantage: at a small height, of the order of 50 cm, the fruits are evenly distributed along the trunk and are well lit by the sun and ventilated.
A couple more varieties - Ural Early and Coral - They also came to me from a collector. In terms of decorative qualities, of course, Coral was among the leaders. The bush is not high, about 30-40 cm in size, strong, like an oak tree, shtambovy, with a thick trunk and dense wide leaves. In seedlings did not stretch. And at first it was inconspicuous how many dozens of cream fruits were hiding under this powerful shelter ... until the bush fell under their weight. The kid turned out to be very prolific! Tomatoes weighed in 40-80 g, delicious, classic tomato flavor, with dense skin. For canning, it's just great ... I guess. But my children knew how to harvest directly from the bush. Still - smart, scarlet, shiny, like varnished, and even with a nose! Why not candy? Despite its plum shape, Coral did not suffer from apical rot. It seems to me that this variety is ideal for planting in “legs” to tall plants and for vegetable borders.
Ural early - low, sturdy, standard, all in flower tassels, straight eye rejoices! The fruits are red, small in size (from a tennis ball to a small chicken egg). This year, frankly, were sour. We went to the blanks. But the canned ones turned out plump and did not crack. Despite the fact that the ventilation at the bush, frankly, is not up to par, it was not sick until the end of the season, it turned black only from freezing. So I’ll try to grow the variety the next year. Perhaps the weather will bring him more luck.
Another collection grade Valencia It was planted both in the ground and in the greenhouse (for it was declared as tall). Under a canopy, the height of the bushes did not exceed 70 cm, in the greenhouse the bushes grew slightly higher. Of course, they had to put support. It was grown without pinching, and the plants formed on 4-5 trunks. The foliage is quite rare, the bush is well ventilated. Fruits are large, weighing 100-150 g, yellow-orange in color, fleshy, sweet. The taste is ordinary tomato, which disappointed. Expect more from yellow fruit. What is important: did not crack even in this damp year. They were excellently stored, but the variety was knitted with passes both in the ground and in the greenhouse. In the first year of testing, the total yield was not up to par, it may make sense to test the variety when forming a trunk in 2.
Coquette, unlike all other varieties, it began to reach early enough and requested support, barely tying the first brush. Perhaps the weather affected again, but this “early ripening” variety began to ripen only by August. At this time, delicious greenhouse varieties were already bearing fruit. In a word, her harvest was almost completely put to work. The variety did not make an impression.
EM champion - Another collection grade. At first, I wanted to throw him out. So ugly, awkward bushes turned out. Thin stems, rare foliage ... Yes, low, up to 50 cm, gave the 2-3 trunk (without formation, I recall). Under no circumstances should they be buried! I did not put support under them, but in vain. When large, weighing up to 200 g, fruits of a heart-shaped shape began to pour, the branches began to break under their weight.
I had to urgently tie up the brush. The skin is thin, but the fruits practically did not crack. But, alas, they are not suitable for storage. The taste is good, rich tomato. In general, the variety seems promising, but, as in the case of the Rosette, it seems that he also needs to adapt to our climate.
But the discovery of the year was Raspberry Baby. It was declared as a room tomato, and initially I wanted to grow it in the room. The plants sown on February 23 on May 1 presented us with the first ripe tomatoes. Small cherry, pink, with a nose, sweet and fragrant! After store imitations of tomatoes, these turned out to be a real treat.

However, already in May, the bushes “requested” freedom: the lower leaves began to turn yellow, the bushes frantically signaled that the 5-liter pot for each of them was not enough. One bush was planted in the greenhouse, since the corner remained free, two more - into the ground. As soon as they got used to it, they began to bloom very profusely. So handsome! However, they faded away, put down shoots on the mulch and ... thought about it. When I got tired of waiting, I raised one lash ... No, perhaps this is not a whip. The whole shoot turned into a brush with fruits. Ripe and only poured, they looked very elegant. By the way, in the soil, these tomatoes turned out to be much tastier than in the pot. Of course, I did not use these tomatoes for harvesting - it turned out to be very tasty.
The weak point of the variety is airing the bush. Shoots (and there are a lot of them) must either be hung on supports, or laid out on a thick layer of dry mulch and protected from precipitation from above. By the way, in the fall I dug up a bush, could not resist. I think, well, that’s all, I’ve done it, I have to pull it out. I pick up the old withered branches, and under them ... Under them a bunch of young stepsons, and everything is in bloom. In a word, trimming old branches, transplanted one of the bushes into an 10-liter bucket. Let us enjoy tomatoes in winter!
