Germination of georgian tearfish
Early germination of dahlia tubers allows you to propagate your favorite plant by cuttings, as well as rejuvenate old bushes, which is important to do every four years.
You can start germinating in the second half of February, for example, at this time I propagate a new, just purchased variety. If the tubers are wrinkled or shriveled during storage, I soak them in a small amount of water for a day. You can add any growth stimulator to it, according to the instructions, or at least sweeten the water with honey (1 tsp / glass).
Then I put the root tubers in a container and fall asleep to 1/3 of the height with light earth or sawdust. The root neck should remain on the surface. The optimum temperature for germination is + 20-25 degrees.
ROOTING GEORGIN SHEARS
When the shoots on the tubers grow to 8-10 cm, cut them off or break out with a piece of the root neck. I sprinkle the places of cuts or breakage with powdered coal, ash or grease with green and dry.
I cut the leaves half from the cuttings, and dust their lower part with powder of a growth stimulant (“Heteroauxin”, “Kornevin”).
After that, I plant them in separate containers with soil with a layer of 7 cm or more. I make up the planting mixture of sand and peat (1: 1), I still pour sand on top - up to 3 cm. I plant cuttings at an angle of 45 degrees, to a depth of 2 cm and at a distance of 4 -5 cm from one another. The first roots appear after about 2 weeks.
I plant rooted cuttings in containers filled with nutritious soil, and if the ground in the garden is warmed up - immediately into the open ground. The place is partial shade. Under such conditions, they bloom weakly, but form good root tubers.
