Polycarbonate greenhouse for giving - pros and cons
Is it worth buying a polycarbonate greenhouse for your summer residence?
It is worth and why, dear colleagues, gardeners and truck farmers.
- It allows you to get early vegetables - radishes, onions for greens, leaf salad watercress - already in early April.
- Stretch until mid-November fruiting tomatoes, especially late varieties. Cultivate cauliflower, green vegetables, onions on a pen, etc.
- Planted in a greenhouse tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers are protected from acid rains and diseases. Tomatoes are not infected with late blight. It is enough only one preventive treatment by any phytopreparation or folk remedy.
In vegetables grown in a greenhouse, a minimum of nitrates, since it is possible to strictly control the amount of organic and mineral fertilizers introduced into the soil.
And what is more important today than healthy, environmentally friendly food?
Now on sale there are different types and types of greenhouses.
Beginning with the most elementary, when the metal (from the reinforcement) or the wooden frame is covered with a film. Then it was inexpensive, which is important for gardener. But in recent years metal has risen in price many times, the cost of a meter of quality film has also increased many times.
The manufacturer guarantees the period of its operation up to 5 years, but in fact it comes into disrepair through 2-3 years, and if it falls under hail, it will not last for a season (this happened twice in my practice). Coverage must be changed, and this again a lot of financial and time costs. The film greenhouse is not very reliable - poorly retains heat.
In the cold season, with the slightest heating inside, an abundant condensation forms, from the roof, it literally drips onto the head.
I tried to build a glazed greenhouse.
It, certainly, in many respects surpasses film: it is better preserves heat, durable, more transparent. However, the high cost of glass, metal corner and welding work during assembly does not allow you to swing at least to a medium-sized greenhouse. In addition, the roof in such a greenhouse requires a special waterproofing, and metal structures - the annual painting.
I, like many gardeners, wanted to have a greenhouse of the size in which it would be possible to grow the quantity of vegetables for a family from 3-5 people so that it does not have the drawbacks characteristic of previous designs and, naturally, was affordable.
At last, such marvelous greenhouses appeared on the market - an arched type, with a skeleton made of galvanized profile and a polycarbonate honeycomb, which in its properties is superior to both film and glass.
It is gratifying that today the production of such greenhouses is put on an industrial basis.
If before greenhouses under cellular polycarbonate in summer cottages were once or twice ... and miscalculated, then in the last 2-3 years they have grown like mushrooms after rain. I also became the proud owner of such a greenhouse. Working in it, you feel comfortable, like in a room. You walk straight (2-meter height allows), and not bending into three doom, as in the previous buildings.
Feel comfortable in it and my pets - cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, radishes, onions, greens, leaf salad. Plants are not susceptible to disease and give abundant harvests over a long period (from early spring to late autumn), which is impossible to achieve in the open ground.
What are the advantages of a hothouse with a polycarbonate coating?
- First, a wide range of sizes and costs make it affordable for a family with an average level of income. The design fits well into the landscape of any, even a small, plot and does not spoil its appearance.
- Secondly, the durability of the material, which the manufacturer-manufacturer guarantees, is more than 10 years.
- Thirdly, the material has excellent thermal insulation properties. The greenhouse maintains a temperature acceptable for plants, even if it falls on the street.
- Fourthly, the material well passes the ultraviolet rays, which is very important for the development of plants. On hot days, the scorching rays of the sun do not penetrate into this greenhouse as much as into a glasshouse. Do not whitewash the walls with chalk.
- Fifth, it is very satisfactory to the all-seasonal nature of the material, its resistance to any plus and minus temperatures of the atmosphere. Do not cover the cover for the winter.
- Sixth, a big plus for this greenhouse is that the frame is made of galvanized profile. It does not rust and does not require annual painting.
- Seventh, the simplicity of the design allows you to collect it yourself without involving specialists, and this can save a lot of money.
Considering all the listed advantages, I can say that today there is no better material for covering the greenhouse than honeycomb polycarbonate.
From this covering material it is possible to construct greenhouses of any design. Panels made of honeycomb polycarbonate are very light, elastic, easily cut and do not break when folded into a roll. The ideal option is an arched type greenhouse. In it, both short and tall plants feel good and develop.
