We warm the veranda from the boards with our own hands
So, the summer season is coming to an end, all the main works in the garden have already been made but the country house you plan to use even in winter - in this case you will have to warm up. Let's start with the veranda.
If your built yourself cottage it seems to you cold to live, means, it's time to insulate the structure.
Recently, construction companies offer wooden houses with frameless unheated extensions, paneled on both sides. Usually such a room is an attic or a terrace, but sometimes there are also unheated country houses. When insulating frame structures, hollow inside, a significant advantage is that the thickness of the walls remains unchanged, and, accordingly, the area of the living space does not decrease.
For the following works you will need the following tools and building materials:
- penofol or similar insulation
- polystyrene thickness 10 cm
- nailer
- a hammer
- nails
- sharp scissors
- roulette
- hacksaw for metal
- карандаш
- Scotch
- putty knife
- paint brush
What material is used for warming the veranda?
For the warming of houses, summer cottages use mineral wool and polystyrene foam. The latter is less popular due to the possibility of releasing poisonous smoke from contact with an open fire. Despite the fact that the foam is considered to be a "non-breathing" material, we took it because of its affordability in comparison with others.
An additional insulation is a gasket made of foam foam, reflecting the foil layer with cold and warm air coming from the street. Penofol is a composite material, which is a foam layer made of polyethylene, which is covered with aluminum foil on one or both sides. Such a structure of insulation is called "reflected insulation". It can be used not only alone, but also in combination with other types of insulation.
Warming of the floor
Floors, especially in the absence of a solid foundation tape, also require insulation. To do this, plaster the seams between the boards, then the floor is re-painted, and from the lower side it is punched with penofol. From the inside, the floors can additionally be insulated with linoleum on a polypropylene lining or felt-based carpet. More laborious, but durable and competent insulation is considered the device of the second floor. With the existing flooring it is used as a draft version, which is laid insulation, and on top - the finish floor. Of course, this will significantly reduce the height of the ceiling.
Depending on the design, decide which side (internal or external) it will be easier to remove the wooden lining. From the inside, it is more convenient to work, besides, the weather conditions will not become a hindrance, but you will have to take care of removing furniture and replacing the inner cosmetic finishes (skirting boards, etc.). Outside, an adjoining annex sometimes becomes an obstacle, the boards of which interfere with the removal of the cladding.
Planking boards are removed with a nail. In order not to leave a trace of a tight junction with the nail driver, a piece of thick packing cardboard is placed under the instrument. The more carefully you remove the boards, the easier it will be afterwards to nail them back. The removed boards are freed from nails and numbered so as not to be confused when they need to be sewn into place.
Measure the area to be insulated. Slice penofol in size, you can with a margin for bending from above and from below. Close their walls, fix the edges with adhesive tape.
Place foam pieces on top of foam foil. It is desirable to select the foam plastic with a thickness equal to the gap between the skin. The pieces must fit tightly together.
In narrow places, for example, above the windows, you will need cut pieces of foam, for this it is convenient to use a hacksaw for metal. In this case, it is necessary to remove the cash from the windows.
Nail the planks. If you have correctly selected the thickness of the insulation, the boards will not bend and easily become in place.
As the skin remains scratched and chipped, after work it is necessary to paint the walls and replace the ceiling skirting.

Coal between frames
In winter, the windows in the country house often sweated. And the internal frames are pluggable and not foldable, that is, I put them only for the winter. But still unpleasant when the windows in the windows are cloudy. Neighbor suggested: you need to take a few handfuls of birch coals and cover them between the frames.
Naturally, that they do not blot out anything, it is better to lay newspapers for them in several layers. I tried. And the whole winter I thanked my neighbor. Never in any frost did the windows get fogged up.
