What to plant and how to equip a small country plot

How to equip the plot in one hundred square meters?
Few earth? No problem. If you approach the solution of this question with the mind, everything is possible. And the experience of our reader confirms this. Recommended for mandatory reading to beginners!
Dear gardeners, lucky people and losers! To get involved in your animated, and sometimes angry conversation, I was forced by two circumstances. First, dacha beginners, in addition to the great desire to have everything here and now, often do not have a minimum knowledge of the features of a particular plant, place them where necessary. Secondly, in a conversation practically do not participate townspeople living in private houses, where every square meter of land is used either in no way, or at the most.
But you don’t want to, but you already have to count money for growing the same tomato or cucumber. Knowing that the private sector of southern cities is annually replenished with people from the North, I want to help them master that patch of land that they got along with housing. Using my own experience, I will help to avoid unnecessary mistakes - in our case, an error can be seen at best in a year.
Watering with a choke
It so happened that having lived all my life in the village, my wife and I had to move to the city. The total area of the farmstead is three hundred square meters, the free land is one, and if you subtract 12 squares under the rose garden, it remains with a gulkin nose. And I want to have everything now!
He began with the fact that the gutters that diverted water from the roof to the street turned around so that all the water would enter the yard during the rain. I got two tanks for 1 cu. m (polyethylene, braided with duralumin, from under some kind of soda), setting them higher above the ground so that there is good gravity.
Now in the autumn-winter period, the rainwater coming in the tank, so to speak, is automatically used for water recharge irrigation.
To do this, I took a regular black polyethylene tube the length of our beds and drilled holes with a millimeter drill. I drowned out one end of the tube - and, having connected it with a hose, I sleep peacefully. When necessary, transferred to another place and again
I do my own business. In the summer, when there are showers and the capacity is overflowing, at the top I insert a choke, and the automation is always connected to it. Thus, rain water is enough for watering crops.
Blackberry creepers
And my wife and I are growing a lot of things on our patch: some, until they themselves see, do not believe. Along the southern fence, right next to the neighboring shed, we planted four blackberry bushes. Blackberry is a moisture-loving culture, and rainwater from a neighboring structure that does not have gutters is used by it 100%. Since her root system is in the shadow of the fence and the barn, she throws the vines high so that they are lit by the sun, and then I let these vines over the fence, using a wire bent by eight. I hook one end to the fence, the other holds the vine.
In view of the fact that little leaves of blackberries are small, they do not obscure the crops planted below, and illuminated by the afternoon sun, it gives an abundant harvest. On the eastern side, two bush of grapes are planted close to the buildings, making maximum use of the solar energy of the lunch and afternoon period, as well as the pear, plum and apple-tree of the winter variety, taking rainwater from a neighboring, now eastern barn.

Trees two meters in height - and no more!
I’ll make a reservation right away: I haven’t given fruit trees all my life and I don’t let them grow in height more than 2 m. Any plant, like a child, can and should be brought up depending on the task. Recently I read: they do not advise because of stress to break off the mustache of cucumbers. Of course, if we need a crown that gives a shadow, we don’t need to form a tree. But I have a different task: I want to have environmentally friendly products for my family. Moreover, with minimal labor and money. Therefore, I form the crowns of trees and shrubs specifically for obtaining fruits.
And does a decent person come out of our child, if you do not cause him stress in childhood? But human life is a way from ancestors to children, it is difficult and thorny. And only one is good - the genes of centuries are transmitted. And genes, as you know, can’t be erased with a finger! The experience of the family is passed on to our children, because children are always smarter than their parents. But by the way ...

The morning sun is the secret
Close to the trees, we have a remont raspberry. Due to the surface location of the root system immediately after planting, the entire raspberry (which is 10 sq. M - two rows with a row spacing of 70 cm) was mulched with a layer (15 cm) of last year's straw, and another 7 cm of pine bark on top. In the same way, he did it on the bed of a restorative strawberry adjacent to raspberries. On the northern, most lighted side, close to the fence, there is another grape bush, under the fruiting lashes of which two gooseberry bushes grow. Nearby grows a beautiful ranetka, jam from her fruits is flying in. And finally, the west side. Close to the foundation are four bushes of blackcurrant, between which cucumbers stretch along a grid up and down.
I note that the stalks of cucumbers stretch between the vines of grapes planted on the eastern side, and after harvesting the garlic along with the daikon. The root system of both currants and cucumbers is superficial; watering (in spite of the mulch) is often necessary: both of them love the tender morning sun - they are blissfully united under it.
Someone complained that blackcurrant does not work. And you give her the morning sun for three to four hours, and the rest of the time - chill, i.e. exclude direct sunlight, mulch the soil, water and ... And you will not know where to put the currant! Unless you trade it ...
Do you need rubber tomatoes?
Now about the further filling of our patch. 60 bushes of tomatoes, as much sweet pepper (with a spacing of 50 cm, in the row 30) are located along the southern fence from east to west. Next year on the place of tomatoes will be pepper, and vice versa.
Immediately about tomatoes ... There was a sin - carried away by the Dutch varieties, tried all sorts of things. But for several years now we have been planting only ours - those that our parents still raised. And you know, after biting our tomatoes, people exclaim: “Yes, I ate these last time as a child!” Can a Bob Kat be called a tomato? You’ll throw him on the road - he bounces like a rubber ball, and let us keep silent about taste. Better chew the sole of the boot. He doesn’t even smell like a tomato!
Flashing Piglet
From north to south parallel to the strawberries is a bed of garlic, 60 heads. At the same time - the same bed of carrots, then beets and a group of beds: sorrel, parsley, dill, perennial onions on a feather, basil. Mint of several varieties grows in the near-stem circle of the ranetka. From this patch, not only two families eat all summer, berries also go to jam and freeze, tomatoes - to tomato juice, cucumbers - 20 and a half liter jars for spinning.
But this patch, surrounded on all sides by a fence and buildings, is a frying pan on a gas stove. The only difference is that the gas is heating the pan from below, and our patch is the sun from above. We tried to shade with thin lutrasil. No, the slightest wind is breaking. I accidentally saw in one nursery a net stretched for shading, resembling potato and onion bags. We bought such nets, and things went completely different. Now these nets are sold on the market.

We do not need a compost pile
An important nuance: the alternation of cultures in such a space is practically excluded. And the point is not that the diseases allegedly accumulate. The fact is that every plant, as conceived by the Creator, carries a cure for disease. Moreover, each plant is a separate medicine. Consequently, each plant, in addition to general nutrition, also carries out from the soil the maximum amount of only its inherent element. Say, why do we inject copper wire into the trunk of grapes? Because grapes tolerate a lot of copper and with its lack, certain diseases develop. That is why on our patch you need to give such feeding every time so that the plant is healthy all the time. For otherwise, diseases and pests will immediately attack.
Well, you probably noticed: two bushes of currant - leaves are stuck on one aphid, and completely healthy leaves and no pests are nearby. Or an apple that looks beautiful but spoiled inside. So add potassium nitrate or just ash, and everything will fall into place.
On our patch, there are several ways of feeding. In early spring, before the leaves bloom, I spend two foliar spraying twice: 150 g of urea per 10 liters of water - all trees and shrubs.
I grind the eggshell collected for the year, mix it with ash (obtained as a result of burning stems of peppers, tomatoes, tree branches and shrubs) in the ratio 1: 1. I make ready fertilizer when planting tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers.
I put all the plant residues (peeling potatoes, carrots, beets, bread crumbs) in a tank or can, and when it warms up, I add 150 g of urea to two buckets of waste and fill it with water. The second capacity: plant residues (preferably nettle) + a couple of kilograms of chicken manure + as much ash + half a liter of milk or kefir to start fermentation. Both chicken droppings and ash contain all the trace elements necessary for the growth of healthy plants. After fermentation (5-6 days), the liquid fraction is added 1 liter per 10 liters of water. Solid, one that has not decomposed completely, we reuse it or throw raspberries in the aisles - this is not only fertilizer, but also a means of deterring any curious butterflies.
During the vegetation period, we have four or five tanks, because if one tomato and pepper is enough for one month, then for cucumbers once a week is mandatory. The husks of onion and garlic are collected separately, poured hot water and once in 10-20 days during the growth of plants I spray first of all cucumbers, because onion husks are small, and cucumbers often get sick.
Thus, all our waste (with the exception of wrappers of sweets and toilet paper) is turned to good.
This method of use in urban conditions is indispensable: we won’t strangle our neighbors with a compost heap ... Yes, and where to have it? And we categorically do not use pesticides.

And the last ...
After planting all the crops, I cover the whole area with a layer of shallow dry straw, and the grass mowed on vacant lots and withered grass is laid on top, and planks of width 20 cm and length of 2 m are laid in the aisle between rows and crops. All the work is done on the board, . We do not walk on earth, we do not trample it.
Summarizing the above, we conclude: one hundredth of the land can supply almost everything, except for potatoes, onions and cabbage. I do not dwell on the issues of varieties, siderates, types of tillage, etc., because I believe that these questions are covered by many and quite often.
If our experience of economical use of resources and maximum return of the land patch to someone useful, we will be happy.
Holiday house for a small plot
A small summer cottage is, of course, big restrictions, and to place everything you want on it will not work. But do not be upset, because houses with modest square meters can be very nice and cozy.
Of course, the most convenient will be the option of a house with a second floor. It occupies less space on the site, and 2 times more living space (Fig. 1)!
Visually increase the space in a small house will help large windows. It looks impressive, but inside the house it will be very light (Fig. 2).
For a small family, a house with one spacious room is suitable, which combines both a bedroom and a living room with a kitchen - like a studio apartment (Fig. 3).
A small house can look original and be more comfortable if you build not just a square version, but a more complex structure - for example, with semicircular walls (Fig. 4).
For owners of a large family, leaving for the summer all the staff to the dacha, you can consider the option of arranging an additional summer kitchen adjacent to the house (Figure 5), or bathhouses (Fig. 6)!
And do not forget about the porch, because if you increase it in the width of the house and lengthen it, you can get an extra place to rest. You can decorate such a terrace by arranging floral arrangements.

My "paradise" in 5 sotok
What can make a person do this way for several years every weekend: 7 stops by tram from the city, then 40 minutes on foot. And in the hands - everything that can and cannot be conveyed: tools, food, drinking water, seedlings. Hard? But there is a little paradise on 5 hundred parts ahead!
When someone says: “But can I buy a summer cottage!”, Everyone usually chuckles: “Well, this is old age, pulled to the earth!” I do not agree that the craving for land appears only closer to retirement. I had this desire at the age of 24, it was far from well-deserved rest. In those years, it was almost impossible to get your own land, and, unfortunately, no one left the village house as an inheritance. And here I was lucky. My uncle, as the forefront of production, was given a piece of zemlyatse on the outskirts of the city. But uncle's cottage already had, so really refuse a free gift? Yes, never ... They offered us. And we are happy!
Manure as a gift
Our joy subsided a little and stopped fountain when we first saw our allotment. There were mountains there, where our Altai Belukha (the highest peak in Siberia!) Can compete. They took out a few dump trucks of foreign dirt. We loaded them with our own hands. And rejoiced, because the neighbor had no household garbage, but reinforced concrete! He had to adjust the crane.
But there were pluses, we found them under a mountain of garbage. Nearby were pig farms, all the manure was brought to our
plot. Carried many, many years. Manure pereprol in a wonderful compost, which lay a layer of not less than half a meter in height. We saw this wealth when all of the garbage was cleared.
Nowhere without water
The pond was not near by. Absolutely none! No rivulets, no stream. About the well, then it did not go, they used imported water. Do you bring her so much? In the first year, although they planted strawberries and cabbage, but there was no sense from them, there was not enough water, so they grew only carrots, onions, potatoes, a few tomatoes and a pumpkin with zucchini. In general, the most undemanding to irrigation culture.
But one year was our happiness. This kind of weather happens every 100 years! Very warm, hot summer! And every night a shower! How did everything grow with such watering on a superfertilized fertilized land! Harvest and gave out, and even sold on the market.
Thirst for experiment
Variety seedlings in those days were a terrible deficit. For the most trouble in the nursery bought a full set of those years: currants, raspberries, apple trees, pears. However, apple trees were stolen right after planting, and raspberries are still growing in my new garden. But at first it was, like a snag, growing spearhead, and not a thin vine. The neighbor taught me the correct two-stage pruning, which was not even required at all, she managed to keep herself in order. But I could see that the plants can be controlled. Here with a raspberry all also has begun! It was then that the desire was born not just to grow carrots and potatoes, but to experiment with different plants.
Was a townspeople, she became a village woman
Now, instead of 5 acres, I have 30. This is not just a site, but my house. I left the city forever. I have yield beds, and a house, and berries, and apple trees, and Manchu nuts ... I used to dig and weed, like everyone else. Now, for thirty years of gardening, I learned to do things differently. I have not been digging the earth for more than six years.
Why produce seeds of weeds? And why should they be torn out? Let the root always remain in the earth, because it is a storehouse of useful substances.
And I plant potatoes in slippers, because I practically lay out the potatoes over the beds, And the harvest is decent. When people ask me how you do it, I answer: look at nature and do the same. That's all my technology. And the soil became fertile, and I did not overstrain myself, and the plants had additional food. Everyone is happy!

4 ARTICLES FOR LITTLE PLOT
Small spool but precious
The plot I have is only 6. It houses a house, a barn, a garage, a toilet and a shower. It is divided into the garden-front and garden zones. In sado
Howl grows old apple trees, a beautiful spruce that grew from a seed on a heap of rubble, lilac, jasmine (Chubushnik), hydrangea, Japanese quince, black and red currants. And, of course, many colors.
It is separated from the garden zone by a small pond in which fish live in summer. The pond has a purely utilitarian purpose: in arid weather, when water runs out in the water supply system and in the barrel, water from the pond is used.
In the garden area grow raspberries, cherries, chubushnik, broken beds, there is a mini-greenhouse and a compost pile is arranged. In general, every inch counts. Therefore, we have to invent something to accommodate the landing.
Green conveyor
The first of my notions is mini beds for herbs. They were designed and created at my request by my daughter Katya. One bed is made in the form of two hearts inscribed in each other, the second in the form of a shield, the third is a six-pointed star inscribed in a circle. The area of each bed is -1-1,5 m, and there are many small, separated from each other segments. For zoning, stones were used that remained after the lining of the pond and the construction of the alpine hill.
I filled the beds with compost and planted the plants. In each segment (except for the garden bed), one culture grows. There was a place of different greens, herbs, wild garlic, salads, spinach and mustard leaf. As soon as I clean one culture, I sow a new one in its place - a green conveyor turns out.
Mini-beds look very nice. Such beds can be arranged in the ceremonial area. In the autumn, after harvesting the last harvest, I loosen the beds, add compost, ashes, and sow mustard. They go to the winter green, and in the spring from the mustard there is not a trace - there is nothing to fill in the soil.
Micro-heats
This is my second notion, making them wherever possible. Under the apple and lilac I pour compost and plant peas for children to enjoy. This year I made three micro-blocks and planted two plants of strawberry physalis on them. For irrigation, she inserted a plastic bottle with a cut-off bottom into each row and poured in water with “Bessarab serum”.
Bushes grew so powerful and sprawling that they had to tie up not only the central stem, but also individual branches. Probably worth Physalis stepchild, but this was my first experience.
Squash kegs
You have written a lot about the use of metal barrels for growing vegetables. I have nowhere to take them. One is used to collect rainwater, the second (without bottom) - to burn plant debris.
In addition, metal barrels have two serious drawbacks. They are very hot in the sun, they have to be covered with non-woven material, and when filled with earth they become too heavy - it is difficult to move them to another place.
But in the garbage I found beer kegs (2 units) with a volume of 30 liters (they were thrown from the nearest store). They are made of durable brown plastic and weigh little. I brought them to the cottage in my bag, then I cut off the tops with scissors and took out the tubes. These tubes I now use for garter plants.
At a distance of 20 cm above the bottom along the perimeter of an awl, I made drainage holes, laid raspberry branches on the bottom and filled it with compost. Dropped into each container for seed zucchini. At first she sheltered Lutrasil, and when the weather was warm, she took shelter. As a result, squash in kegs began to bear fruit two weeks earlier than the seedlings planted on the beds!
The land in the kegs quickly warms up, excess water flows through the drainage holes, and there is enough moisture at the bottom, so there is no need to bother with watering, just a couple liters of water a 1-2 week.
The walls do not overheat in the sun, and in the fall they can be brought to the veranda, extending fruiting for at least a couple of weeks.
So that the lashes do not break under the weight of the fruits, I install polystyrene supports under them. At the end of the season I came to the conclusion that it is better to grow bush squash in kegs. However, they are suitable for growing cucumbers, you only need to stick a garter stick in the middle.
The main advantages of beer tanks: they can be dialed near the store for nothing, they are light, made of harmless food plastic, perfectly washable. On the plot they can be attached anywhere, and then, if desired, moved.
Mini greenhouse
Without false modesty, I regard the fourth notion as a stroke of a genius pen. As the song says, "I blinded him from what was." For a greenhouse, I simply have no place, and it is expensive. Parnichki on arcs are great for growing cucumbers, but for tall tomatoes, they are rather low.
When I bought a garden arch for a pond, the store held an action — three for the price of two. Out of greed, I took three arches, although I had no idea how I would use the extra ones. Arriving at the cottage, I wondered: would it be possible to use them for a greenhouse?
We didn’t fully collect the arches, leaving the bottom two elements in the box, otherwise they would have turned out too high. Husband Dmitry inserted them into the ground, turned out to be a frame height 1,5 m, width 130 cm and length 2 m.
I covered the arches with film - a nice little boy came out who helped me out a lot in the rainy summer of 2017. From the wind she fixed the foam on the frame with metal paper clips: they are much more convenient than clothespins. These clamps are generally a universal thing! With them I close bags with cereals and siderat seeds, etc. Below she pressed the film with bricks. In general, not bad, but not very convenient.
This year I decided to improve the design. As a stiffener, I used a metal stick from an old clothes dryer - tied to the tops of two arches. While I was looking for a rope in the barn, my eyes fell on cellular polycarbonate: my parents gave me two sheets a couple of years ago, and I put them in the barn until better times. So they arrived.
She pulled out the sheets, folded them overlap to get the length I needed, connected them with scotch tape and put them on the frame. It turned out a beautiful roof! Top threw covering material. There was not enough length, and I, using the same paper clips, attached another piece to it.
In hot weather I remove the non-woven fabric completely, in the cool at night I close it. I attach the insulation from the wind to the ground with the help of special plastic pegs with rings - - thanks to their design, the material does not break and it can be fixed repeatedly. I use the same pegs to strengthen the covering material on the beds in the spring.
Watered through bottles stuck in the ground, as many summer residents do. The land in the beds is dry, and the plants take as much moisture as they need. In June, two weeks could not get to the cottage, and in a closed greenhouse all the plants felt great. And in the open ground several cucumbers dried up, although I just watered them through the bottles. For the gulf of water I use a jug from the old water filter, it is just enough for one bottle. You have to run, but it is easier than carrying a heavy watering can.
For the winter, I removed the polycarbonate, lutrasil and pegs in the barn, and left the arches in the ground. But you can disassemble them and also remove them for storage. If you wish, you can move this greenhouse in a matter of minutes to another place.
Let me take my leave. I would be glad if my thoughts came in handy to someone from the owners of small plots or prompted them to their own ideas. After all, a summer cottage is the best place for creativity!

SECRETS OF THE FENCE IN A SMALL SITE
Do you know where the real fairies live? Yes, yes, they live in cozy houses, buried in flowers, on the edge of a green forest.
I had heard about this before, and recently I had the opportunity to meet one of them. Inna CHUBIKOVA lives in a small corner of the Mogilev region called Squirrel Kut. She does not divide her possessions into a garden and a vegetable garden, all her plants seem to complement each other, therefore, tomatoes, a row of growing lavender and hot pepper in a tub perfectly adjoin the greenhouse. Cucumbers and tomatoes in one greenhouse
Despite the fact that, according to all the laws of vegetable growing, tomatoes and cucumbers cannot normally adjoin in the same greenhouse, Inna has been doing this for several years.
“We have a small plot, I want to find a place for all the plants on it, so we have to unite even those who, in theory, are not very friendly,” says the gardener. - And a little bit of "kidding." For example, cucumbers that require moist air are mulched abundantly with chopped trimmer grass and let out on a grid of ropes. I remove all lower leaves, water under the root in the early morning, and on hot days in the late afternoon
I spray with warm water from a spray bottle. At the same time, I keep both doors ajar so that moisture does not prevent the tomatoes from growing.
I feed tomatoes and cucumbers once every five days throughout the season. I alternate such compositions:
- divorced according to the instructions Baikal EM;
- serum solution (1 L in 9 L of water) with the addition of 30 drops of iodine.
In addition, she placed open bottles with iodine around the perimeter of the structure (5 pieces per 3 × 5 m greenhouse). This not only protects plants from diseases, but also accelerates the ripening of tomatoes.
Get your sleigh ready in the summer ...
- I begin to prepare the greenhouse for the next season back in August, - says the hostess. - I sow a mixture of rapeseed and mustard between the plants. By mid-September, when the crop is already harvested, green manure will have time to grow. I pull out and take out from the greenhouse stalks of tomatoes and cucumbers.
I cut off rape and mustard, spill it abundantly with EM diluted according to the instructions of Baikal, and seal it in the soil along with the remnants of the mulch. When the first frosts begin, my greenhouse with soapy water. Then I wash it with Fitosporin's solution (2 tablespoons in 10 liters of water), I spill the beds with them (10l on 2-3 sq.m). I install the supports so that the plastic does not form in the winter, I lock the greenhouse, and when the snow appears, I throw it inside so that the ground does not freeze.
In the spring, I pour the beds again with diluted Fitosporin, a week before the cucumbers are planted with Aktara solution (according to the instructions).
And before planting seedlings of cucumbers and tomatoes - Baikal EM.
Perennial pepper in a tub - Sweet pepper used to be grown in a greenhouse, but because of slugs, I had to evict it outside, ”Inna shares. - I put it over the bed of the arc, in the cold (below + 10 deg.) I cover it with a film, mulch the plants with a mixture of crushed egg shells and ground coffee (1: 1).
Some pests nevertheless cross the protective barrier, but there are much fewer of them.
Onion Tricks
“I usually plant onions in the second half of April or early May (on the day when I mow the lawn for the first time in a season),” the gardener continues.
- I place the bulbs in 7-10 cm from each other, not thicker. Immediately after planting, mulch the bed of grass, which the lawn mowed with 10-15. After the appearance of the first seedlings, I pour it with a solution of ammonia (1 tablespoon per Yul water). I repeat top dressing in late May and early June. And another two weeks later I pour a liter jar of wood ash 10 l boiling water, I insist for a day and pour over 1 st. under each plant. I noticed that after these top dressings the onion grows well. By the way, pests also bypass the onion bed.
I grow hot peppers in tubs.
In the spring, when I plant tomatoes in the greenhouse, I take out the pepper and leave the house, put it right in the tub in the corner of the greenhouse, take care of the street one as well. And in the autumn I take off all the fruits, cut off the old twigs and leaves, treat them with an insecticide (Fitoverm, Aktara) and take them to the house.
In the spring I feed with nitrogen-containing fertilizer and plant it on an open bed, and in the tubs I sow new seeds in order to pick up young plants in the house in the fall.

I have a sunny 8 × 7 m plot in front of the house. Young cherry, apricot and two old plums are already growing at the edges. Is it possible to place a peach and two hazelnuts here, because they are not planted one by one? Or will the trees be crowded?
#
- You can, but I advise you to form hazelnuts in 1-2 trunks.
#
Even from a small garden with the size of 2-4 weave it is quite possible to harvest, providing annual requirements for plant products of the family from 4-6 people. Just planting should be placed compactly.
Beans, peas, and beans can grow between rows of potatoes. Scourge of cucumbers, squash, squash, pumpkin let curl on the fences. Strawberries, lettuce, spicy herbs I personally grow remarkably on vertical beds - shelving with containers installed near the walls of a country house, sheds. I grow tomatoes, eggplant, peppers in old buckets suspended on a thick steel wire stretched above human growth along garden paths.
Berry bushes tie to trellises, so that they grow not in breadth, but upwards. Apple trees, pears, plums plant colonial varieties. Flowers for the sake of economy of a place grow in flowerpots and кашпо.
#
When the garden was broken with my husband, due to a lack of experience, we did a lot of things by eye, not really thinking about how and what happens when the plants grow (they thought about beauty and their personal convenience). And then five years passed, and, in particular, it turned out that the luxurious and well-bearing gooseberry bush was “crushed” by a wide-spread cherry. Like it or not, there are only two ways out: either chopping down a tree (cutting its branches from the side of the berry is already pointless, and it looks awful), or getting rid of the bush. I feel sorry for the cherry more. So the victim is gooseberries. Why, even his heart hurts. Hence the question for experienced gardeners: is it possible to transplant a 5-year-old bush? Well, or, at worst, split it when transplanting?

I have only three summer gardening experiences. Every spring, the question arises: what and how much to plant? It is necessary to take into account my strengths and capabilities, the ability to process and preserve, and most importantly, am I to remove all this? What if guests arrive - we must treat them. And if it doesn’t rise, doesn’t grow, withers, gets sick?
How to calculate the right amount of vegetables and greens? Is there an accurate calculation here? This is not a dress for a figure to sew and do not put tiles on the wall.
At first I asked my most experienced neighbor. Management experience - 25 years. The secret is simple. and complicated: good grades and plus 10% of the verified quantity over many years - so to speak, for shrinkage and utruska. For example, last summer she planted 70 bushes of seedlings of cabbage. Gathered - 64 heads.
Then I climbed up for information in the books. That's what they advise. To provide a family of four with vegetables, it is required:
• 10 salad bushes, which are planted once a week, it is enough for them to allocate an area of 0,5 sq. M. m. One literate bush is better than a hundred crowded in a row of stifles.
• 4 bush of tomatoes. Tomatoes, which are growing throughout the season (scientifically -indeterminant). If you eat on 1 kg per day, each bush should give 30 kg, and this is not the limit.
• 4 bushes of cucumbers. Clear business - self-fertile (parthenocarpic), giving solid female flowers, tied immediately, immediately, without any pollination.
• 6 pepper shrubs, 6 eggplant bushes.
The main thing is to hunt!
From myself, I’ll add. We are used to planting plants in hundreds, sowing in long rows and large handfuls. Then we thin out, if we have time. At the same time, a huge area is planted - we love to create a front for ourselves. Spending the summer in this mode, I decided to keep my plants and beds to a minimum. Better less, but better.

My garden plot is small, but the harvest is enough to provide the family with fresh vegetables and make supplies for the winter. With a reasonable approach, you can also get a lot of products from a small area, without depleting the land.
It is necessary not only to take into account the composition of the soil and make fertilizers necessary for each crop, but also to know the requirements of cultivated crops for illumination. There, where the shadow from the buildings and the garden falls, it is better to plant leafy greens: lettuce, spinach, sorrel, parsley, some spicy herbs. Not bad to withstand the shade of cabbage (especially colored and leafy), onions and garlic. And for cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, beets, it is necessary to allocate well-lit areas.
Also, without a sun, you can not get a decent harvest of potatoes.
However, I have long ago planted only a couple of rows of early varieties to eat young potatoes in the summer. In winter it is easier for me to buy it than store it. The vacant place is occupied by more interesting and tasty vegetables.
Along the sunny side of the fence I make beds for vegetables that require support or garters-beans, peas, cucumbers, tall tomatoes. The fence becomes the basis for the trellis, and if necessary also for the covering film.
On the side slopes of the onion beds, I plant beets and rutabaga. These cultures do not interfere with each other. Between seedlings of tomatoes and cabbage I sow lines of radish - it manages to grow before neighbors begin to claim its place.

To break a large garden on a plot of 6 acres does not work. But, choosing the right trees and shrubs, you can please yourself and loved ones with good harvests of fruits and berries. 3-4 tall trees will be enough. For example, apple trees or pears. The place for them must be chosen carefully, taking into account the size of the future crown, the distance to neighboring sites and to buildings. Estimate where the shadow will fall. The minimum distance between coarse grains is 3-4 m. Be sure to select varieties taking into account the requirements for pollination.
Less places will be occupied by cherry, plum, cherry, irga, thorny, aronia. But most of these plants give a lot of root cane, which must be fought. It is advisable immediately, when planting, to dig into the ground at a distance 1-1,5 m around the seedlings a plastic curb tape or any sheet material.
Pay attention to miniature trees on dwarfish rootstocks or variants with a column-shaped crown. Many nurseries offer unusually formed plants: rowan and hawthorn with a weeping crown, gooseberry on the stem. Usually they take up less space in an adult state than the usual forms. Those who wish can learn the art of grafting and molding the crown.
Do not forget about decorative conifers. They are very beautiful at any time of the year, and occupy very little space.
