Patio with a pond with a terrace and flooring
Built directly into the deck terrace, the pond makes it very original.
Water always causes a feeling of calm and peace.
And the angular pergola with the walls-screens shielded from prying eyes.
What and how will we do
Pergola, naturally, should be covered with plants, for example, clematis or nasturtium.
The walls of the pond are built from uneven bars, stacked on top of each other with a bandage at the corners and fastened with bolts. After laying the film and letting its edges on the walls, the latter are fastened with screws to the boards of the parapet.
In the same way, you can build a sandbox or a flowerbed on the terrace.
Pond or other named structures, of course, need to be built before the floor is covered with planks.
Decorate the pond with aquatic plants planted in it. Inside, you can run aquarium goldfish.
Such a pond is easy to equip with a small fountain. In the fall, the water from the pond must be drained, the plants taken away for wintering, the fish should be put into a home aquarium, and the reservoir should be covered with rain.
Under the pergola you need to pour concrete foundation blocks with embedded threaded elements. Under the lagging flooring you can use a paving slab.
Elements of the terrace are connected with galvanized screws and bolts, since fasteners from ordinary steel and some non-ferrous metals cause dark spots on the tree.
To preserve the texture of the wood, the elements of the terrace, raised from it, are treated approximately once a year with an oily composition for the tree.
The floor of the terrace can be covered not with ordinary stone or concrete slabs, but with high-quality boardwalk.
For this purpose it is best to use processed and impregnated under pressure boards.

The sequence of works is shown in the photo 1-16.
Arrangement of a summer terrace near the pond
Do it yourself in the courtyard with a terrace and pergola - progress
- In the grooves on the end of the pillars insert metal supports (anchors) and fix them with tubular threaded ties.
- Anchors with posts are attached to the foundation bolts in cast concrete foundations.
- The end parts and beams are fixed to the posts on stainless steel screws.
- The struts and beams are fastened with struts.
- Beams are adjusted to the grooves of the racks.
- So collect and other elements of the terrace. Drill-screwdriver significantly speeds up the work.
- View of the construction from the open side of the pergola. The hinge is placed in the groove of the rack between the two end parts.
- Between the two end pieces, the struts are attached and on the corner.
- To the posts screw the pommel, consisting of an intermediate part with grooves and a cap.
- On the underside of the crossbars, cutouts are made, the width of which is equal to the thickness of the beams. Crossheads are inserted with cut-outs onto both beams and fixed with screws.
- Diagonal rafters for the angle of the pergola are cut along the length by means of an adjustable stool.
- The cutouts on the crossbars, which they put on the beams, are selected with a chisel followed by a thorough cleansing.
- To the racks nail special brackets for hanging grid elements and wall-screens.
- Inserted into the grooves of the racks, the lattice elements and screen walls are fixed with screws with hexagonal heads screwed through the hole of the bracket.
- Floor terraces can be done simply. First, lags are placed on the prepared base of paving slabs.
- Then on carefully calibrated (possibly with the help of wedges) the floor is planked with floorboards and fastened to self-tapping screws.

On a note:
✓ Traditionally, PVC films and butyl rubber films (EPDM membranes) are used as the waterproofing material for the ponds. Using a film to create a pond has several advantages:
- PVC film allows you to create a variety of forms and styles of water.
- Pond film is easy to install and easy to repair.
- The film for the creation of a reservoir is ecological and has a long service life.
When choosing a film, pay attention to its thickness:
- for a reservoir with a depth of up to 1 m and an area less than 10 m2, use a film thickness of 0,5-0,8 mm;
- for a pond with a depth of up to 1,8 m - a film 1,0 mm thick;
- for a pond with a depth of more than 1,8 m - a film 1,2 mm thick.
