HOW TO GROW CUCUMBERS IN THE KUBAN - ADVICE OF THE EXPERIENCED
We like to joke sometimes on the topic of female logic. And it would not hurt to listen more often! Here, let's say, which of the men will come to mind that the reinforcement can be used to increase the yield of cucumbers? So we read and learn.
I can not imagine life without earth. Sometimes you get up all broken in the morning, everything hurts, you do not want anything, but you'll come to the dacha, touch the beds, and the forces suddenly appear. Yes, what! I am sure that positive energy comes from the earth. It gives strength and health, I just feel it!
And now I want to share the experience of growing cucumbers. Since autumn I have been digging a trench for the width and depth of the spade bayonet (I try to throw the earth away, and then, when I do the beds, I level it), and about 6 m long.
Then, after retreating on both sides along 20 cm, I dig two more grooves of the same length, but the depth is already half a pint, I put the laid ground together.
In them I fall asleep with humus. If it is not there, I shovel dry leaves, grass and not even composted over the summer. If this too is not enough, then I spread it with ashes, and then I fall asleep with the same land that I folded together. Two long ridges are obtained, which will settle by spring.
And in the middle, deep groove I slaughter three segments of the old water pipe (two on the edges and one in the center), I insert specially welded from the armature of the slingshot in the form of the English letter Y, and I put a long iron rod on them.
VARIETIES OF CUCUMBERS FOR THE KUBAN
In the spring, on those two ridge ridges that run along the sides of the trench, I sow seeds of cucumbers gently by my beloved varieties Zhuravlenok, Solnechny, Palchik and the Seven-Cross. For pollination, when the shoots will rise, I leave them in a row one at a time through every 25 cm. And then along the ridges, opposite each plant, I place low U-shaped arcs. I care for cucumbers as usual: I water, fertilize, sprinkle, but all as necessary {happens, because of weather conditions I do not fertilize and do not spray, but only mulch).

WHAT IS THE MIDDLE GROOVE WITH REINFORCEMENTS?
And there I all summer throw grass and I pour water, brought by means of a hose directly from a column. Once a week I fill this trench with water to the very ends: as long as it gets to the roots through the earth, it will become warm. That's why my cucumbers all over the summer are good fruit and practically do not get sick.
WHY CUCUMBERS P-SHAPED ARC.
To each of them I tie the nylon twine, I throw it through the fitting on the slingshots and attach it on the other side of the groove to the same arc. It turns out a hut. As the cucumber lashes grow, I twist them twine in a twist counterclockwise, and then they themselves are braided.
Only need to keep an eye on them all summer, because they are so striving with their mustaches to cling to the neighboring twine, and this is undesirable.
I like everything in everything.
Twine the same I use for many years. When I cut off from both sides, I tie a knot so that it does not untwist and do not loaf, I tie it on the bow (bottom and up) to easily remove it, tie it in a bun, dip it into the vitriol solution for disinfection, and then dry it and store it on the veranda . Thus, I save time. In addition, you do not have to cut it every spring, because the twine is not cheap. You can, of course, use the cheapest synthetic one, but it lasts the longest for two seasons, and it happens that in the first year it breaks under the weight of the weaves.
With this planting, cucumbers create their microclimate on the beds. They are easy to take care of and easy to harvest. Whoever does so will be satisfied with the result.

And now about another topic. Now polemic on the topic: plant garlic on strawberries or not. I'll tell my story.
When I bought the cottage, I was 40 years old, I never touched the ground, and immediately went for advice to friends and acquaintances. They convinced me in unison that garlic should be planted everywhere - not like strawberries, but even under trees and shrubs. I did so. And for three consecutive years, my harvest was very good, regardless of weather conditions.
And in the fourth year, something incomprehensible happened to the garlic: its leaves turned yellow, you tear it out - and there the roots seemed to rot, the head is loose, and the stem is clumsy. By the autumn, almost all the strawberries in the garden were spinning.
I don’t ask anyone what to do - there’s no answer, but for some the same as mine, the nonsense is happening in the garden. And after a while I heard a radio broadcast where one agronomist said that garlic can get a nematode and infect everything around. It was then that in my head everything fell into place. So make conclusions whether to plant garlic in strawberries or not. Personally, I don’t do that anymore.

Cucumber, like any other vegetable, loves care and attention. As the saying goes, you won't get a good harvest without hard work. And I work hard, that's why I eat fresh cucumbers all summer; Yes, and for the winter I roll up several dozen cans.
CHOICE OF CUCUMBER VARIETY FOR KUBAN
Every year on my site I grow at least 4-5 varieties of cucumbers, and different in terms of ripening. Among them, there are certainly a couple of self-pollinating ones: they help out in a rainy summer, when there are few insects. When buying seeds or seedlings, I focus on zoned varieties. I also pay attention to resistance to diseases and pests. For example, I really like the early unripe variety Malysh, which is famous for its friendly yield and excellent taste. Good for canning Pickling. Perfect for growing outdoors.
SOIL PREPARATION
She used to cook the beds in the fall, and in two or three places: so that cucumbers could still be planted in a monthly interval. Don't forget to observe crop rotation. After harvesting tomatoes, cabbage, greens, I first burn plant residues, and then disinfect the soil. Then for every 1 m2 I sprinkle 1 glass of wood ash and 1 tbsp. l. superphosphate, dig up and leave until spring. Two weeks before sowing on 1 m? I add 3 kg of humus, peat and sawdust to the beds and again dig to the depth of a bayonet shovel.
SOWING AND FORMING
I try to prepare raised mounds for cucumbers; they heat up faster, and plants can be planted earlier. I level, spill with warm water and start sowing: depending on the weather in early or mid-May. Already at the end of June, you can expect the first cucumbers. I usually form lashes at the stage of the 3rd true leaf. As soon as the cucumbers form 5-6 leaves and unfold the antennae, I begin to tie up.
WATERING AND FERTILIZING
When the lashes grow by about 30 cm, I fertilize cucumbers with nettle infusion; I repeat feeding after a month. If the fruits expand at the bottom, then the plants lack potassium. And here you can not do without wood ash, which I powder the ground around the stem. If the greens expand in the upper part, by the way, I fertilize the plantings with a solution of mullein (1:10).
I try to water in the evening and never pour water from above.
As soon as the flowers appear, I water the bushes at least 2-3 times a week in the early morning with plenty of warm settled water. Then I mulch the beds with straw: it helps keep the cucumbers clean and dry.
I harvest every day, while the fruits are still small. When the lashes reach a meter length, I pinch their ends so that the plant spends energy not on leaves, but on the formation of new cucumbers. I try to avoid watering in the evening, I never water from above.

What cucumbers are best grown in the Krasnodar Territory?
#
The main problem in the southern regions is the high air temperature. Unlike the same pumpkins, zucchini and watermelons, cucumber leaves do not have natural protection against overheating, the same aerenhyme or wax coating on the leaves. They also lack strong pubescence, which also prevents overheating. A temperature of 45-50 ° is considered critical for cucumbers. In such conditions, cucumbers with weak branching die very quickly. Therefore, in hot regions it is more advisable to grow hybrids with strong branching. Moreover, the length of the shoots is of secondary importance here, the main thing is that the plant constantly forms new shoots and leaves. They serve as natural sun protection and allow you to extend the fruiting period.
It is possible to further increase the heat resistance of plants by installing low-pressure polyethylene sunscreens and maintaining constant soil moisture. The soil for cucumbers can be covered with light-colored mulch (non-woven material, fresh sawdust, etc.). This will protect the roots from overheating. And yet another moment: the heat resistance of a cucumber largely depends on its genetics. In particular, hybrids of Chinese cucumbers are well tolerated in hot weather.
