For fresh consumption, the fruits of varieties of cherry plum hybrid, which was obtained by crossing Chinese plums with typical cherry plum, are mainly used. Her fruits are large, tasty and fragrant. One of the best varieties, the Kuban Comet, was obtained by crossing the plum variety Skoroplodnaya with cherry plum Pioneer. The most winter-hardy varieties are Kuban Comet, Sarmatka and Traveler (Ruby). For the Central Black Earth region, the varieties 'Gift to Friends', 'Found' and 'Granite' turned out to be quite winter-hardy.
Cherry plum develops best on fertile loams with a neutral reaction. Acidic soils are planted with chalk or dolomite flour before planting; gypsum is added to alkaline soils. All varieties of cherry plum require cross-pollination, with the exception of the Kuban Comet and Traveler. Therefore, in the garden it is necessary to plant at least 2-3 varieties. Cherry plum begins to bear fruit for 3-4 years. Fruits can be harvested during the period of optimum maturity, when they have a dense skin and taste inherent in this variety. The fruits of most varieties can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two to three weeks without losing consumer qualities. The best varieties of cherry plum are not inferior in taste to the plum varieties and even surpass them in early maturity and regular fruiting.

Four years ago planted three plum seedlings. The trees took root well and quickly went into growth. I look after them carefully, I hide them for the winter, I feed them. Now they are already taller than my height, their stems are strong. But this summer I saw for the first time that the leaves on them grew as if in a half-turned position, and this was the whole season. At the same time they did not yell, did not wither and did not shrivel. Did my trees get sick? Or maybe they need anything? Help me, please, with advice, what should I do in this case?

In China, the plum is known as a tree of happiness. In our country, it is also loved by many and is, perhaps, the most common culture after the apple pear tree.
Plum loves warmth. She begins to bear fruit in the 4-5th year after planting, and this period lasts about 10-15 pet. Fruits in different varieties can be both small - weighing 6-10 g. And large - 50-70 g. Plums should be planted in spring. 1-2 buckets of humus, 200 g of superphosphate and 500 g of wood ash should be introduced into the pit.
If the soil is sour, it is necessary to add lime to each well in 1 kg. Mix well with the soil. Roots spread out. It is important to make sure that the root neck was above the soil level on 5-7 cm. If it is cut too much, the tree will develop badly.
At the end of the planting, you need to water the plum and mulch the trunk circle - for example, peat crumbs.
For many gardeners, it is problematic to grow plums due to the fact that it is a tall tree. But there is a way. You can take felt cherry as a stock. It is characterized by frost resistance, undemanding to soil and weak shoots. However, it must be borne in mind that it is incompatible with some varieties of plum - they do not include Big Blue, Italian Hungarian, Gigantic, Kirk, Stanley, Sentyabrskaya, Renklond Karbysheva, Pamyati Vavilova and Renklond Altana. It will be convenient to care for the stunted trees and you can plant different varieties with an interval of 1-1,5 m. Pollination in this case will be better, and yields will be higher. True, such plum plantations need to be updated every 5-7 years.

    Plum: tasty and
I really like the plum. Care for her does not require much attention, and the harvest always turns out to be excellent!
When the fruits begin to be tied, I am sure to feed the plum with lime. This substance is necessary for bone formation, and later for the ripening of sweet and juicy fruits. By the way, lime also fights against pests. However, in early August, when insects are especially active, I make hunting belts from a special adhesive tape or double-sided tape. I wrap around the trunk - the caterpillars and sawflies stick to the trap, and I just remove the tape and attach a new one. Also on cloudy days
    unpretentious!
I lay the litter under the trees and shake off the fruits affected by the moth on it. Sometimes I sprinkle ash near a plum - it does not tolerate aphids. And in late autumn, I carefully grub the ground at the roots with a pitchfork - this is where most of the pests winter, and after such a shake they die. It is important to work with the forks carefully so as not to touch the root system, otherwise the tree will die.
In the spring, I lightly form the crown of trees with a pruner, make sure that it does not thicken. I remove the tops, cut off the dry branches and shorten the branches too long (more than 60 cm). Here such simple leaving, and how many pleasure from a crop!

Plum blossom is a spectacular sight. Our two trees bloomed every year and were strewn with snow-white flowers. What was disappointment when after such a magnificent flowering only a couple dozen fruits were tied. Well, the neighbors suggested how to fix this situation.
It turns out that it is not necessary to plant plums of only one kind, as it was with us. For better pollination, it is necessary to place at least two varieties, planting trees through 3,5-4 m from each other. If there are more varieties, this is only good.
To choose the right pollinators, you need to know that there are three main groups: home plum - it is grown in the middle lane most often; Chinese is a rare guest in this region; and hybrid varieties of cherry plum, which were collectively called "Russian Plum."
Perfectly pollinate each other sorts of home plum.
Crops will also be high if you plant nearby plum varieties such as Morning. Blue gift, Violet, Tula. Cantemation. Chinese plums - Skoroplodnaya, Sissy, Red Ball and Oryol souvenir, planted nearby, will also give excellent results.
Another important point is the timing of flowering, with pollinators it must take place at the same time. So. early ripening and late ripening varieties are problematic to pollinate each other due to different times of bud opening.
There is another factor influencing pollination - the weather. If it is rainy and cool, bad years of pollinating insects are observed. Too hot can cause stigmas to dry out and fall off. Therefore, it is better to have several varieties - say, two early ripe and two late ripe, so that some of them open their buds on days favorable for pollination.
