      The handsome Cape Figelius (Cape Fuchsia, originally from South America) grows up to 90 cm per season and clearly surpasses its neighbors in the flower bed. Its tubular bells up to 7 cm long bloom along the peduncle from the bottom up, delighting with flowering from late June until the first frost.

      The plant loves the sun, heat, water, does not tolerate drafts, it is not demanding on the soil.
      For planting rooted figelius cuttings in open ground, I prepare holes with a diameter of 20 cm. At the bottom I put drainage from broken bricks and fill it with a mixture of garden soil with 1 tbsp. l. humus, 1 tbsp. l. bone meal, 1 tsp. nitrophosphate. I spill it with water and leave it to dry slightly for 2 days, then plant it and water it. Over time, the plant gives rise to shoots - I carefully separate the shoots with a knife and move them to a new place. Figelius hibernates in our south under cover.
      In the spring and summer, I feed it once every 2 weeks with a liquid complex fertilizer for flowering. I sprinkle 3 tbsp around the bushes 1 times per season. l. wood ash for fertilizing and repelling slugs. These are the only pests that pester the plant. I have not observed any illnesses on it yet.

    How to grow a buddle of David from seed? Which capacities are better to use? When can I transplant the bushes into the garden?

      Seeds buddlei sow in early February, so that the seedlings had time to get stronger before transplanting into the open ground. Soil I use the purchased soil, but I add sand to it (2: 1). Sow immediately into individual plastic cups (5-7 pcs.), I pre-make holes in the bottom and fill it with 2 / 3 soil, then gently distribute the fine seeds over the surface, moisten from the spray gun, sprinkle (about 0,5 cm) I ram my palm.
      Then I cover the glasses with food film and put it on the lightest window sill. Every day I moisten the soil and aerate the greenhouses. Shoots appear quickly, in 4-5 days. I shoot the film in 10 days. I leave in each container 2-3 seedling. I finish them with a lamp.

      At the end of May (plants reach a height of 10-15 cm) I carry to the terrace. Evenly watered, avoiding overmoistening, otherwise they can rotate the roots.
      In June I transplanted together with a lump of soil into the open ground to the most sunny place.
      Once every two weeks I feed bushes with liquid complex fertilizers (according to instructions). At the end of August, here and there may even appear inflorescences. In the first winter, bushes must be covered with fir-tree paws. Early in the spring I remove the shelter. In the summer buddleya pleases me with abundant flowering and a huge number of butterflies, which attract its pleasant aroma.

    Can I grow a buddleus in the middle band of Russia? If so, how is it better to arrange a winter?

      Buddleya David is a very beautiful shrub, and many gardeners would like to have it on their site. Despite the fact that this plant comes from warm subtropics, it can grow in central Russia.
      In central Russia, the buddley grows in the form of a shrub - in winter the aboveground part completely freezes out, but the root system is preserved and in the spring gives growth.
      In order to receive buddle blossoms, one should observe the following recommendations:
      plant buddleiu on a sunny, sheltered from cold winds;
      before wintering, the bushes should be cut short, mulched and covered well (the best is dry-air shelter);
      there is another option - a buddley bush is dug up, placed in a bucket or wrapped in polyethylene and stored in a cool room or basement until spring.

      In case the plant still dies, you need to have young shrubs grown from cuttings, which easily hibernate in the basement, do not take up much space, and in spring, when planted in the ground, they quickly start growing.

    There is a variety of Blue Chip. Also dwarfish, compact, ideal for containers. I have it for years 5.

    Buddleja David (Buddleja davidii) with fragrant vanilla flowers, collected in large brushes, is an invariable favorite of gardeners. Among its advantages are not only a delightful aroma, but also a long flowering from June to August. A tall and sprawling bush used to require a lot of space in the garden. Everything has changed with the advent of the compact varietal novelty 'Summer Lounge', specifically
    created for growing in a container. This miniature (reaches just 60 cm in height) the beauty grows well on the usual substrate and prefers completely sunny places. In spring, on the eve of the appearance of young shoots, the plant should be slightly "cut", so that it remains compact and forms larger
    inflorescences. Important: although this representative of the flora is relatively winter-hardy, the ground in the pot quickly freezes, so for the winter the plant should be brought into a cool room. Tip: There are three options for a miniature buddley - with pink, purple and blue flowers. If you put all the "sisters" in one container, you get a full-fledged bright flower garden.
