What are the advantages of planting autumn raspberry varieties in the garden
What are the advantages of cultivation? autumn raspberry varieties compared with summer?
For example, in that fresh berries you will regale in the autumn, when the garden does not bear fruit, and collect leaves and flowers for medicinal tea.
Thank you and bees for nectar at the end of summer. However, there are some difficulties that somewhat moderate the enthusiasm for the autumn varieties. But first things first.
Firstly, I want to emphasize that autumn varieties are not opposed to summer ones! Their main purpose is to significantly extend the period of consumption of fresh berries.
Before deciding whether or not there should be a remont raspberry in your area, it would be nice to talk with your neighbors, make sure that the autumn varieties are already growing and give good yields in your area. In the best varieties, under favorable weather conditions, the biological potential is realized by almost 80% and even 100%, when the entire young shoot "becomes a fruiting branch." To maximize the potential of a young shoot, not only a long frost-free period is required, but also high temperatures, moisture, nutrition, good lighting (for successful photosynthesis), and the absence of pests and diseases.

I will give weather data for one of the settlements of the nearest northern suburbs in 2013, where the autumn raspberry did not disgrace itself.
The sum of the average positive temperatures was 1587 ° - this is a decent indicator, although not for the maximum realization of the potential of such varieties as Orange marvel, Bryansk wonder, Firebird, Atlant.
In October, there was a freeze (up to minus 6,1 °), it affected the already opened flowers, but flowering and crop formation continued in November, albeit slowly. From July to October, 184 mm of rain fell, 79 days there was no rain - this was enough to get an average crop.
The situation can be improved if planting varieties with accelerated differentiation of the kidneys, undersized (Reliable, Hercules, Penguin), normalize shoots in order to avoid their thickening, protect against frost and improve the thermal regime (from late August to late autumn and in April-May) by covering with materials such as spunbond.
To the mentioned varieties I will add a variety Diamond: even with a small harvest of ripe berries due to the enviable branching of shoots, an abundance of buds, flowers, ovaries is formed on them.
This feature of the variety makes it possible to use it as a food base for bees and other pollinating insects, providing them with a full wintering. And the harvest for the grower will be collected in October and dried buds, flowers, ovaries, leaves, which can be added to therapeutic teas.
Autumn raspberries - care
Before planting a repair raspberry in your house, think about whether you will be present at the site during its fruiting, collect and use the whole crop for its intended purpose. In fact if in the autumn you are not present on a site, and what for a kitchen garden to fence.
A very strict element of the technology is the term for the removal of prolific shoots.
There are several contradictions here. It would seem that he harvested and in the autumn he removed all the shoots (mowed, chopped - and composted them).
With this approach, many problems of controlling pests and diseases that winter on the stems are solved. On the other hand, the sprouts left untouched contribute to the accumulation of snow and, due to this, the best wintering of the rhizomes and the buds located on them, from which new shoots will develop in the spring.
Save shoots as long as possible and for one more reason: that the plant as long as possible accumulate products of photosynthesis in the rhizome. These stocks in the spring will contribute to a better growth of new shoots. It's good that you do not need to bend these shoots for the winter, because In the spring they will still have to be removed.
So shoots of autumn raspberries are best left to winter, especially in regions with cold winters and a small amount of snow, but early in the spring, even on the snow, cut them and remove them. This will make it possible to prevent the spread of raspberry bud moth, the development cycle of which is associated with the kidneys on the stems that developed in the previous year.
This same technique reduces the risk of spreading various patches, as well as shoot and stem gall midges and mites growing on stems and mites. And only the raspberry fly remains indomitable for both summer and autumn varieties.
But the timing of flowering autumn raspberries does not coincide with the period of migration of raspberry beetle to raspberries and its further development (in summer varieties these phenophases are just tied to each other). As a result, raspberry beetle causes great harm to summer varieties, and autumn - significantly less.

Raspberry decoration
It should be said that the repair raspberry is not limited to the role of berry bushes, it can also become a decorative element of your garden.
Indeed, if summer varieties are modest, modestly outwardly “Cinderella”, then autumn varieties are undeniably bright beauties, decorating the autumn garden on the lawn, as well as in areas reserved for currants, gooseberries, honeysuckle, etc. With a high activity of the root system, autumn raspberries elementarily penetrate the zones of these shrubs and not only decorates them with their presence, but also contributes to a more economical use of the areas. This allows you to grow autumn raspberries only in mixed plantings, without creating special raspberry plantations.
Autumn raspberries and grapes do not interfere with each other when placed together. Perhaps, it may be appropriate to fall raspberry and in hedges, for example from spirits. She looks good under the shade of lilacs, column-prominent apple trees. In all these cases, the planting of the main crop acquires an atypical charm.

What is good about late raspberries?
The crimson season ends on my site only after a steady autumn frost, because I grow repairing varieties of this culture.
After the end of fruiting, at the end of November, when the top layer of the soil is freezing, the whole of the above-ground part of raspberries I cut off level with the surface of the earth (hemp should not be left). In December, my raspberry looks like an even, clean bed-in this form it goes off for the winter. Due to this, several problems disappear at once. First, you can not worry about the winter hardiness of raspberries. And secondly, together with the cut off shoots, stem cauliflower is destroyed. In spring, in their place, powerful young shoots grow, which begin to bear fruit in August and end in October, and even in November. The late harvest, in addition to being pleasant in itself, is not affected by the larvae of the raspberry beetle.

Under a thick blanket
Agricultural technology of raspberries in different gardeners, it happens, is very different. But the requirements of this culture are unchanged. Raspberries need air- and moisture-permeable soil. The place to land is where there is more sun. Raspberries react very positively to irrigation with solutions of infusion of grass, manure, and of course, EM (for example, Baikal). I am sure to mulch the plantings with non-ripened organic matter (grass, hay, straw, sawdust, etc.) with a layer of at least 10 cm, and for the activity of natural processes I add very little any manure (this is a starter for bacteria). I monitor the density of shoots, they should optimally
be 7 per bush. The distance between the bushes is not less than 0,7 m, between the rows - not less than 1,2 m.
Of the many proven large-fruited varieties of raspberries, only four have left them. This is Maroseyka, Patricia, Krasa of Russia, Yellow giant.
Grades received from the hands of V.V. Kichin. There were other wonderful varieties - Izobilnaya, Stolichnaya, Tarusa. Unfortunately, they had to part with them due to lack of space.

Ruby raspberry
Full bambinoz ruby and golden yellow large juicy berries of raspberry raspberries are harvested in our garden from August to autumn frosts. When the autumn is warm, raspberry berries are torn even in early November. Small (up to 3 °) short-term autumn frosts of the plant are maintained.
Repairing raspberry varieties are able to produce 2 crops: summer - on last year's and autumn - on annual shoots. We grow only for the autumn crop, since the summer delays the ripening of the autumn for two weeks, which, with early frosts, leads to the loss of a significant part of the berries. In addition, summer raspberries are usually smaller than autumn raspberries and are often affected by pests (for example, raspberry beetle larvae). Autumn, on the contrary, does not need processing, grows large and environmentally friendly.
To get a high autumn harvest, we cut out all the raspberry shoots to the ground level in late autumn or early spring (so the problem of winter hardiness of shoots disappears).
