How to make a trellis trellis for climbing plants in the garden
Tapestry is an excellent means of decorating the garden, zoning it, giving the landscape an unusual configuration. To do it is very easy for yourself.
Trellises are trellis grids.
Their main purpose is to serve as a support for plants, but they will successfully replace an ordinary fence, help create a cozy corner in the garden, hidden from prying eyes, or mask unsightly places on the site: a hut, a barn, a garage, a toilet.

Make the trellis yourself simply!
The trellis is a frame of bars on which cross-rails are sewn crosswise. For a frame with dimensions of 1,5 x 1,5 m, bars of 45 * 45 or 50 x 50 mm cross section will be required, to which 20 x 40 mm cross sections are sewn crosswise. If the side of the trellis is 2,5 m or more, then a beam with a section of 50 * 100 mm will be required. Criss-cross on them is no longer sewn on slats, but bars with a section of 40 * 40 mm. You can attach the rails in different ways - vertically and horizontally, crosswise or diagonally. And from the slats you can create some special ornament.
External skeleton trellis
It is not necessary to make the trellis strictly square or rectangular. The frame can have, for example, beveled faces. The main thing is that this is not to the detriment of the strength of the structure. Therefore, we must adhere to the rule: the slats at all points of intersection must be tied together by self-tapping screws.
The trellis frame is tightened in the corners. In the case of erecting a compact trellis make a sample in the middle and join the bars together. Fasten them on self-tapping screws, pre-grooving and pounding holes in the bars so that they do not crack during the tightening of the screws.
When installing a large trellis, sampling is not done - the bars are simply lapped and pulled together with M10 mounting studs.
Processing of wood blanks
Careful impregnation of all the components of the trellis with protective compounds is required (Senezh Aquadecor, Aquatex, Pinotex, Texturol). First, the parts are painted separately. Then assemble the structure. After that, the entire trellis is painted. Only this way reliable wood protection will be provided.

How to set trellis
Do not put wooden trellis studs in the ground. To install, you must use a metal profile.
For a compact trellis, an angle of 50 x 50 mm of black metal will suffice.
For a large trellis, flat steel pipes are required. Preliminarily they are cleaned from rust and carefully dyed by kuzbasslak. With the trellis, metal supports are connected either with self-tapping screws (in the case of a compact trellis) or with mounting studs (in case of a large one).
If the top of the trellis will still be attached to any structure, its steel “legs” can simply be stuck in the ground. In other cases, it is necessary to drill a hole in the ground, lower the trellis racks there and fill it with concrete, creating a broadening of the support below. Short ends of the mounting studs are attached to the ends of the supports to provide a bond to the concrete. In order to avoid skewing of the structure in highly foul soil, the bottom of the hole should be below the level of freezing of the soil. In most cases, this method provides structural stability.
So, if everything is done correctly, the tapestry will delight the eye and will last for many years, unless you have to tint it every few years.
When installing the trellis, in no case should you use nails - only self-tapping screws! Moreover, oxidized or coated with brass. Before twisting, the screws are smeared with thick oil - solid oil, lithol, citate.
Do-it-yourself props for climbing plants - master class
Rest in summer in a shady corner of the garden, hidden from the scorching sun by thickets of beautifully blooming lianas, the dream of many summer residents. To create such green screens on the site you will need climbing plants and supports for them.
You can choose curly annual plants or shrubs-lianas, in which only leaves die in winter. They can decorate already existing buildings on the site, such as a gazebo, a barn, a porch of the house, a facade, a fence, and various curtains, arches and other garden structures can be made under the climbing plants, which will serve as a support for them and create green rooms or canopies on the site.
Where to begin
For starters, you can try to plant a sweet pea, reaching a length of 2-3 m, a convolvulus tri-color, with bright funnel-shaped flowers, morning glory, decorative beans, hops climbing.
These plants germinate well, require minimal maintenance and quickly wrap around support. Varieties differ in terms of flowering and varied color of flowers, basically all of these annuals bloom until autumn. The secret to success is a sunny location, timely watering and top dressing.
Always in fashion
For those who have already decided on the options for vertical landscaping of the site, perennial lianas are more suitable. Clematis purple has stems of length 4-5 m, the plant is decorated with large flowers of violet-red color. The clematis of Jacquemans has flowers of different colors, stems of 2,5-3 m long. Suitable bright location, fertile soil, without stagnation of water.
For spectacular flowering, clematis should be cut depending on the group and covered for the winter. All clematis are divided into several groups according to flowering time - in early spring, spring and summer, summer and autumn. Some clematis from these groups do not cut at all, they only remove broken shoots, while others cut off necessarily. So, for example, clematis, blooming on old shoots in the spring, do not prune.
Support for plants with their own hands - master class
1. First of all, determine the size of the grid, it is better to immediately make it for the entire length of the plantations. Draw a plan on the ground, measure the desired width between the vertical bars.
2. Lay the racks according to the diagram drawn, mark the fixing points for the horizontal rails. At the bottom of the grate, the distance between these slats may be narrower, so that young and low plants can still cling easily, and in the middle of the lattice, do more distance and the same length along the entire length to the very top.
H. At the intersection of horizontal and vertical rails, fix them with two screws.
4. The finished grill should be painted with paint better, so that the construction does not fade and does not darken from the rain. Such a grate can be fixed to the wall of a house or a gazebo by screws. Another option is to attach it to poles or other supports in the garden.
OUR ADVICE
It is better to plant several different varieties of peas, different colors or to acquire a mixture of seeds at once.
Note that the sweet pea has also low compact plants about 20-25 cm in height, some form shrubs up to 30 cm.
Popular varieties of sweet peas for vertical gardening: Melody Bicolor Mix, stems up to 150 cm long, a mixture of colors, Spencer Red, stems 250 cm long, large red flowers, Lilac-purple Bonton, stems up to 250 cm long , flowers lilac-violet, “Royal Family”, stems up to 250 cm high, fragrant flowers of different colors.
GARDEN ON TREES - TIPS AND REVIEWS OF GARDENERS
Often, gardeners are convinced that trellis is only a vertical support for plants that, under the weight of leaves and fruits, are not able to "stay on their feet." This is so, but the main task of the trellis is not just to hold the plants, but to allow them to grow up, resulting in more light and air. The tied cucumbers, peas, beans are easier to care for, they are more likely to ripen and less often get sick.
Crops that need support: cucumbers, pumpkins, melons, beans, peas, tomatoes, peppers.
You can tie plants to wooden posts (best suited for peppers and stunted tomatoes), trellis or pyramids.
To make the trellis to a depth of about 50 cm, dig the columns along the boundaries of the rows, make holes in the upper part and draw the wire through them. Lock it around the edges. Heavy fruits (large tomatoes, melons, watermelons) will have to be additionally tied to the columns, otherwise the trellis may not support the weight of the plants.
It is most convenient to bring down a pyramid from wooden slats. It will turn out light and mobile. Ideal for cucumbers, beans and peas.
It is advisable to soak the columns before use with used engine oil - then they will not deteriorate so quickly in the ground.
For string beans, use stakes about 2 m high. Dig them into the soil by 50 cm. Twist the stem counterclockwise around the support. If the plant grows above the column, point the crown down.
Put peas and beans along a pyramid wrapped in a construction grid with cells in 10.
Tie up watermelons, melons and pumpkins to the trellis. Leave no more than 4 ovaries on each plant.
Tie up indoor cucumbers so that all lashes are directed upwards. In open ground, you can use a horizontal trellis and just raise the plants slightly above the ground.
TIP: Before garter, boil the materials that you are going to tie the plants to the posts or trellis.

In my experience, I was convinced that an old stepladder and a broken support for umbrellas could serve more than one year in the garden.
On the ladder, which once "worked" in the library, I hang a string of small-fruited pumpkins or zucchini, and on the stand for umbrellas I "let" the beans. Very convenient and no trouble with tie up plants and installation of special supports.
