Southern Peppers in the Non-Black Earth Region
Growing experience
Throughout my gardening practice I tried to deal with zoned varieties. And before I did not like to experiment, but now I have completely “tested” it in my views on this. However, it so happened that for two years he involuntarily focussed with varieties of peppers different from the usual Swallows and Winnie the Pooh, not champions, but proven "fighters from the garden, who produce crops in the most boring summer." And here the gardener from the Chernozem region, familiar by correspondence, sent seeds of rare varieties. So now I can summarize the attempts to grow southern varieties of peppers in the Leningrad region.

As the
Sources are like that. The greenhouse is small and low. 9 m * and 1,5 m in height, covered with polycarbonate. Holds two narrow high ridges (metal boxes in fact), annually replenished with mature compost.
Organics are rarely added, if they are, then in the winter, and so - the plants are fertilized with mineral water. NPK. two to three times a season, a teaspoon under a bush under loosening. Naturally, weeding. I am lazy to mulch. Watering - as the soil dries. It seems that all agricultural technology.
With the seedlings, nothing special. Seiyu in the second decade of February, and then she lives without picks, in a personal container of about 200 ml.
I do not finish (which is bad!). Before landing in May, I feed twice with a weak exhaust of manure. By the time of landing “in the wild” it is twenty-five centimeter bushes, sometimes with buds. For each ridge I plant 15-17 pieces. They sit for two weeks “silently, get used to it, and then let's go!” and bloomed. and shot growth.
And then it's important to keep track of the beginning of the branch: once the shoots of the second order grow around about 10 cm, I immediately rip off all the leaves until the first fork and pull out all stepsons (except those that go to the branches of the third order).
As a result, each bush by July is “trees with four skeletal branches, each of which may have a pair of tertiary branches, has five ovaries and five heels of flowers. With over-pollination of varieties seriously did not come across.
In the middle of August I pinch all the tops, peel all the flowers. By the beginning of September and on the table (here and early), and for the winter in the bank that I always have to twist.
Pepper varieties for Non-Black Earth
In the past (2014) I contacted peninsular varieties - such as Bell. Yellow Mushroom and the like. I was not delighted. The bushes are huge (about a meter), very leafy. There are few fruits, they only reach the stage of technical maturity at the root. I myself like spicy, but for the average consumer the taste is “strong”.
Of the sweet ones, Kakadu was pleased with the fruitful one, the fruits are large (on the bush there can be five pieces of 17-20 cm and a trifle), it is easily ripened to the regular red color. One pity - F1. But you can buy it without any problems.
And this year (although the summer was purely nominal), I was pleased with the Bullhorn, although it does not reach biological ripeness in the bud, but the appearance of a row of bushes on which an average of 7 pieces of 25-cm “anti-aircraft shells” hangs is impressive.

Chocolate Crumb with walnut, but maturing on the root, color like milk chocolate, thick-walled, tasty! Unrivaled brand for whole-fruit canning.
Same and variety Sweetie. A little more chocolate truffle (and the shape is the same), hang on the bush, like red lanterns. And how beautiful it looks in a bank!
But on Sweet Chocolate in August, large fruit, cube-shaped, with an adult's fist begin to recruit chocolate color. The variety is not very productive, but it is also good for our latitudes. Thick-walled and fragrant.

Peppers without picks
Seedlings grown without picks, with subsequent transplantation into the ground, are better suited, as the root system of this culture is restored rather slowly.
Before sowing (in mid-February) seeds of peppers aamachiva for a day in water with microelements. For further germination I use a small container. The bottom is lined with paper napkins, I moisten with boiled water with the addition of a couple drops of aloe juice and lay out the seeds. From above I cover with a lid and put it in a bright place (25-30 °). Seeds puck through 10-14 days. It happens that through 5.
I use ready-made soil, but first I steam it in a water bath. I fill them with 0.2 l glasses. I compact a little and spread out one seed at a time. Sprinkle with soil 1 cm on top. moisturize. I place the glasses on the south window. I water the seedlings infrequently, but abundantly. The first feeding is carried out when 2 true leaves appear with a urea solution (0.5 tsp per 1 liter of water). The second time is when 5 leaves are formed. I use a solution of 0,5 tsp. urea and 1 tsp. potassium monophosphate per 1 liter of water. The day before planting in the ground, I spray the seedlings with an anti-stress drug.

Peppers are different
I plant peppers of different colors. It is beautiful, when in a fresh or canned salad there are yellow, red, and even purple fruits.
Our family loves yellow ones the most - our grandchildren are happy to crunch such peppers. I collect plant seeds myself.
It is important here to exclude peripilation of different varieties. If the summer is wet, the pollen of the pepper does not have much volatility, so it spreads no further than 1 m. In a dry summer it is able to fly off at 2-3 m. Therefore, I plant each variety in different places or in opposite sides of the greenhouse so that the distance between the plants was not less than 3 m. Then from the seeds collected from yellow fruits, such will grow.
If you do not plan to collect the seeds, then all the peppers can be planted nearby, but only sweet varieties. If among them there will be at least one bitter, the taste of fruits of other varieties can disappoint you.
