Sowed this year carrots of the Napoli hybrid, and the roots turned out to be pale and bland. Is this a feature of the hybrid or my mistakes when growing?

Early ripening hybrids, which include F1 Napoli, accumulate less carotene than those with a longer growing season, which means that they have less color intensity of the bark and pulp. But still not enough to be, as you write, pale and insipid. Perhaps you purchased poor quality seeds or used the wrong agricultural technique. For example, if carrots are grown with an excess of nitrogen, they will store less carotene. It is not difficult to identify overfed plants: they are powerful, with dark green foliage and give the impression of superbly productive ...
But it all ends with an impression. Root crops are formed small, coarse and tender. Such a crop is unlikely to pass a test for the amount of nitrates.

A low content of carotene can also be obtained with a lack of potassium. Carrots are second only to cabbage in terms of nutrient removal, and their potassium consumption exceeds nitrogen consumption by 1,2-1,5 times. This element enhances the formation of sugars and slows down vegetative growth somewhat.

Carrot is the second most popular vegetable in our family (it is second only to potatoes).
We eat it fresh and in salads and garnish, we prepare juices. Honestly, I deliberately taught my family to carrots, because it is an extremely useful vegetable. It has beta-carotene, which helps to strengthen immunity, improve eyesight, hair condition.

In my opinion, the maximum of useful substances is contained in fresh vegetables, so I often make freshly squeezed juice. For better digestibility, I add 1 tsp to it. cream or olive oil (a glass of juice). You can also mix it with other juices. I, for example, like to add spinach or celery juice, and my son prefers to mix with apple or peach juice.

So that carrots are enough for the whole autumn-winter season, I sow 3 small beds with it. I prefer classic varieties - Chantane, Vitamin 6, Nantes. All of them are perfectly stored in the cellar in boxes of dry sand.

I always plant more carrots in the country, so that I can drink carrot juice at least every day - an incredibly useful product. It contains a whole bunch of vitamins and strengthens the body. Carrot juice is especially useful for poor eyesight, diseases of the throat, blood, skin, liver, bronchitis.

In the country, I do not have a juicer, so I make juice with a grater or a meat grinder. I grind and squeeze. Over 15-20 mins before a meal I drink 100-150 ml of juice and I feel fine. I think carrot juice even improves the mood!

Choosing seeds of carrots, in my head always keep a list of those varieties that are adapted to our climate. And I get first of all early ripening, the maturation period of which is 80-100 days. Among my favorite varieties is Parmex F1 with small spherical root vegetables weighing 30-50 g. They are very convenient to completely preserve for the winter. The same carrot grows a carrot varieties Parisian carotell, which is very fond of my children.

And the most fruitful of the early ripe varieties of carrots, according to my observations, is Artek. I like Amsterdam carrots for resistance to cracking at high soil moisture. But the most even and beautiful I always grow Rex carrots. Very productive variety with large root crops.

I respect fruit juices, but in autumn and winter I prefer to drink vegetable, "grown" by my own hands in my own summer cottage. I drink a little, literally half a glass, sometimes I dilute with water, if the taste seems too saturated.

My favorite one is carrot juice, a source of vitamin A, it perfectly supports the immune system. I drink it, for example, for breakfast, often add an apple to carrots.
Before dinner or dinner, I prepare tomato juice. By taste and consistency, it differs from the store one, you can not drink a lot of it, at the same time it immediately gives a feeling of saturation. As a result, I do not overeat during lunch or dinner. In addition, tomato juice improves digestion. The only negative is that their tomatoes are not stored for long, so it's possible to say that my autumn juice
    .
Unlike tomatoes, the beet remains juicy and strong for a long time, and the juice from this root is saturated with vitamins and minerals. I put it for myself on the 1 place in terms of value. Of course, it is not possible to make juice from flabby beet, so I always store beets (as, indeed, carrots) in boxes with river sand. Vegetables should not come in contact with cold air, which gradually "squeezes" moisture out of them. In the sand, root crops perfectly retain juiciness and do not germinate-a piece of them turns out to be tasty and useful.

Gardeners do not really favor small carrots - it is stored poorly and it is more difficult to process it. Therefore, they try to thin out the beds with carrots in a timely manner, sometimes even more than once. And yet, if there is no time for thinning, or the soil in the garden is poor, the appearance of small root crops cannot be avoided.

Someone throws a mini-carrot into the compost, but meanwhile such root crops are very tasty! Many small carrot dishes even relate to delicacies - for example, glazed carrots. The only question is how to save miniature root crops. Immediately after harvesting, I sort the carrots. I process it into salads, whole marina, add it to mixed vegetables, and freeze it.

Fine carrots are also well stored in a 3-liter jar in the refrigerator. To do this, you need to wash and trim the vegetables from 2 sides - the tail and top, without leaving the tops. With this method, my carrots are stored until spring and even until the next harvest.
I also love small beets - it is very tasty in a marinated form. When there is no time to cook vegetables for vinaigrette, you can open a jar with ready-made, pickled ingredients and very quickly prepare this salad. And as children like to crunch mini-vegetables!

If the carrot is grown for the sake of the root, "until the condition" it goes for the season. But for
obtaining carrot seeds required 2 season. But their seeds are a guarantee of quality and independence from price jumps.
Preparatory work for collecting seeds begins in the spring, on the eve of crops. It was at this time that one should notice the carrots that survived the winter better than others - they will be able to transmit to the offspring such valuable quality as good keeping quality. Particular attention should be paid to the tops of root crops. They should not be rotten. Even if you want to harvest seeds for several seasons at once, you should not plant
too much carrots. Good germination will be only for 3-4-summer seeds. At 5 year they rise much worse.
The selected root crops should be planted 30-35 cm from each other in well-dug up earth and rather deep - the tops should be 2-3 cm below the ground level. Planting should be well watered. Traditional "seed" garden care: weeding, cultivating, watering. It is advisable to provide the appeared peduncles with small supports so that the stems do not break and bend to the ground. You can collect the seeds when they are fully ripe - they will acquire a dark color.

    To carrots grew sweet
Previously, the tops of my carrots often curly. Root crops grew small, bitter. The acquaintances suggested that the larvae of the carrot leaf leaf were so harmed. Especially they are dangerous, while the plants are young. Now carrots on shoots are treated with a solution of any insecticide: Actellik, CE (30 ml per 10 L of water); Inta-Vir, TAB (1 tablet on 10 L of water). And I always take a new place for her: I sow after cabbage, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers.
By the way, unsweetened carrots can become and from a lack of potassium. Therefore, in the summer after watering or rain, I sprinkle the plants with ashes and loosen the soil. Even better is the solution: 2 st. I pour the ashes with boiling water, I insist 1-2 days, then carefully merge the settled part and top up with water to 10 l. I add a few crystals of potassium permanganate (until a pink color is obtained) and water the carrots.

The secret of tasty carrot juice is not in an expensive juicer, but in the right sort of carrots.
In our family, everyone simply adores this juice, so I have long known varieties with the most juicy, sweet and long-preserved root vegetables.
Allocate 4 beds for carrots in the garden. 2 - for early ripe varieties 1 and 2 - for medium and late ripening. From the earliest, I like Nursery Sweet Mr. Maestro F1. They are not only juicy, but also practically do not get sick. We start eating this carrot already in July (selectively). I Then mid-season Me-I Dovaya and Nantes 4, as well as the late N Emperor, are used. These varieties are stored
carrots are excellent. Even in spring the roots remain juicy, bright, and from them a wonderful juice is produced.
However, in order for the carrot to survive the winter without losses, it still needs help. Firstly, when harvesting, I wash it in cold water, dry it and put it in plastic bags, in which it does not rot in winter, does not dry and does not get flabby. Secondly, I dig a part of the carrot in a bucket into the ground, and dig it out in the spring, after the snow falls. From this fresh, perfectly preserved carrot, I make juice until a new harvest.

Last year, I lost the entire crop of carrots. Suddenly, all the tops were blackened and put on. What could have happened to her?

Your description is very much like a defeat with a brown patch. This is a fungal disease that is quite common in carrots. It occurs when there is a sharp temperature drop or a prolonged rainy weather. First, brown spots are formed at the edges of the leaves and petioles, surrounded by a yellow halo. Then the spots quickly spread to the entire sheet. After which, he literally turns brown before his eyes, twists and withers. It looks as if the tops were scalded with boiling water and dried.
It is important to know that the disease may recur next year, so all plant residues of your carrots must be destroyed. They can be put on rotting in a compost pile, but in this case, compost can only be used after 3-4 years. If you notice the first signs of brown spotting, be sure to spray all the beds with infusion of garlic. You can also try to increase the immunity of carrots by applying Epin-Extra on it. But in general, the best way to fight in this case is prevention, which consists in a number of simple rules. Observe crop rotation - do not plant carrots twice in one place. Before planting, be sure to process the seeds, for this you can use a solution of potassium permanganate. Do not tighten with weeding, loosening and watering - everything should be in moderation and on time. Thickened rows in rainy summers are especially dangerous.
