Brovallia - biological description
Brovallia is a perennial, but is grown as an annual; it can be grown both in the garden (like petunia) and indoors. It is named after the Swedish bishop Johann Browal, a friend of Karl Linnaeus.
The genus Brallia contains 6 species, but at home only the genus Brallia is grown (Browallia speciosa).
At home, the bralium forms a small lush bush up to 40 cm, covered with numerous white flowers or a violet-blue shade of different saturation.
Bright green leaves very beautifully set off unusual flowers. Particularly like Brovallia for its abundant flowering: it can continuously bloom throughout the vegetative period even under insufficient illumination. Brallia prefers a sunny place, but it does not suffer direct sunlight, it can also grow on the north side.
Brovallia - care
The temperature in the room should not fall below 15 ° C, ideal - 20-25 ° C.
The plant does not like drafts and cold air. At a high temperature in the room you need regular watering. In a cool time, watering should be limited and monitored so that roots do not rot. The soil must be constantly moistened, the bralia responds well to the feeding.
In hot weather it is desirable to spray the plant or to increase the humidity in the room.
Seed Brovallia - sowing
If you want the bromelia to bloom in the summer (on the balcony, on the terrace or in suspended flowerpots), it should be sown in February-March. If it is sown in August, the flowering will begin in December-January.
Sowing seeds at different times, you can achieve year-round flowering. To prolong the flowering, you need to remove the faded flowers.
When growing Brovalli from seeds, it is advisable to use modern mini-fellows, but you can sow both in peat tablets or simply in any container, then put in a bright and warm place. Seeds come together and grow fast.
Dive rostochki with 2-3 leaves in the pots for 2-3 pcs. for more abundant flowering. Flowering will begin in three months and will continue throughout the winter.
You can propagate brovalia and by rooting cuttings in spring or summer. Cuttings should preferably be taken from the upper part of the stem, but without buds. Root in a loose substrate, then cover with a film or put in a greenhouse. After rooting and diving, the plant must be formed: to make it lush and abundantly blooming, it is necessary to pinch the tips of the shoots.

Brovallia is beautiful
For summer flowering, seeds are sown in early spring, but more often this purple beauty gets tighter blooming. In the summer, keep the plant at a temperature of +22 degrees, with a sweating on a sunny balcony.
Under direct rays, the leaves wither, dry, the flowers lose their bright color. Do not let the substrate dry out. In hot weather, spray brovallia 2-3 times a day, but not in the sun. Feed it once every 10 days with liquid complex fertilizer - and you will receive a luxurious flowering in gratitude.

No matter how much she tried to sow the seeds of brovallia, the sprouts only got from the fifth time. But now I'm proud that I brought up such a miracle, pleasing blue lovely flowers.
SOWING SEEDS
Seeds can be sown almost all the year round. They are very small, germinate in the light, so they sowed superficially on the universal soil, previously shedding it "Epin". Slightly pressed her finger, sprinkled water, covered it with glass and put it on a light window sill. Every day I cleaned the condensate. Delicate shoots appeared quickly and amicably. Gradually accustomed them to the surrounding air, opening for a couple of hours, and a couple of weeks later she took off the shelter.
UNEXPECTED CASE
Moistened the seedlings gently from the spray gun or into the pallet. But one day she forgot to water, and the plants sprouted, except for two. Urgently engaged in their salvation: moved the tank from the top shelf to the bottom, gently poured sprouts and covered it with glass. They quickly went into growth, and in 3 weeks I put them in small cups. She placed it on a light window sill, protecting it from drafts. When the plants reached 10cm, I nipped the tops of 0,5 cm and stuck them in the same cups, and after 2 weeks of rooting I transplanted them into separate containers.
After a time, the saved seedlings of Brovallia gave the first flowering.
They grew quickly, cut them in any season, so I soon had a whole family of wonderful, constantly flowering plants.
ADVICE FOR CARE
I grow Brovalia in the conditions of the room and as a summer in a hanging flower pot, planting several cuttings together for splendor. I collect the seeds for reproduction. After flowering cut off all the branches on 1 / 2 - this stimulates the growth of new shoots. The plant is sufficiently cold-resistant, in winter it can be kept at + 15 degree, reducing watering.
Of the pests, I saw on the brovalli only a spider mite, which was easily removed by bathing the plant 2 times in a solution of laundry soap.
