Let's start with a harmless flower “war”, because all plants that can shoot with seeds at least for a short distance cause the most lively interest in children.

This property is possessed not only by a common weed, small-flowered weed, but also by some garden plants. If there is nothing small-flowered to do in the garden, then its tropical and subtropical relatives are welcome not only children - lovers of all kinds of "shooters", but also the older generation - connoisseurs of exotic beauty.

Miraculously, you can combine love for flowers and children by decorating your garden, for example, with a touch of balsam, or garden balsam (Impatiens balsamina). This is an annual heat-loving plant with a height of up to 70 cm with a straight, juicy, fleshy stalk on which large, about 4 cm in diameter, simple or double flowers sit tightly in the axils of the leaves. They can be white, pink, lilac and red, and in form distinguish flowers that resemble a rose, a camellia and a carnation.

Balsamin easily reproduces quite large seeds that are sown in March, and transplant seedlings in the open ground only after the threat of frost passes. On the flower bed plants are placed at a distance of 20-30 cm from each other.

The more fertile the land, the higher they will be. In addition, more powerful plants can be obtained if they are fed regularly with a full complex fertilizer, but at a lower concentration than for other plants.

Balsam also grows well in a container where it can be planted denser - at a distance of about 15 cm between the stems. In the container, the combination of balsam and portulaca large-flowered looks advantageous, juicy fleshy stems and large bright flowers of which are in perfect harmony with balsam. Important: thanks to the creeping growth form, the purslane successfully decorates the bases of the erect stems of the neighbor and makes the potted composition more magnificent.

For children, the most interesting thing in a plant is not flowers, but boxes with seeds, so do not remove faded flowers. This guest from the grandmother's garden has been out of fashion so long ago that today it is quite capable of producing the impression of a rare novelty. They are quite edible, so take them to the kitchen to use to decorate a salad or broth. Piquant leaves, reminiscent to the taste of watercress, are rich in vitamin C and also eaten in small quantities, and unopened buds and unripe green seeds can be marinated as capers.

The green cup of the flower in which the corolla sits - a blue star of 5 petals - is also covered with villi. So first practice yourself how best to separate the whisk from the cup. Blue stars are an exquisite floral delicacy and a great decoration for your favorite children's treats: ice cream, cocktails, mousses, as well as other desserts and salads. The color of the cucumber grass varies depending on which soil (acidic or neutral) the plant has settled. Under normal conditions, the flowers are blue, on acidic soil they can become pink.
