Growing of white flowers (leukonyum)

In our country, this plant is called whiteflower, and the Greek name "leukoum" in translation means "white violet." It is very similar to a snowdrop and also propagated by bulbs.

However, the "growth" of the white flower is twice as high, the calyx of flowers is more rounded than that of the galanthus, and yellow dots are "set" on the ends of the petals. Therefore, the plants look more decorative.

Even taller and later look - summer leukoyum. It blossoms 2-3 weeks in late spring and early summer.

Its grade Gravity Gainte reaches a height of 0,5 m. The color and shape of the flowers is the same as that of the spring leukoyum, but they can be up to 10 on each peduncle. It prefers moist, moist soils and penumbra. These are magnificent cuttings.

Another view autumn leukoyum has slightly pinkish small flowers hanging on 2-3 on peduncles 10-15 in height. The plants grow and blossom in the beginning of autumn. This species requires sandy soils and sunny places for cultivation. Soon after flowering, the leaves lie and disappear until the next year.

Types of leukoyum

Spring Leukoyum has peduncles up to 20 cm. On each of them hang on 1-2 white flowers, with a pleasant scent at the beginning of flowering, reminiscent of the smell of violets. They are good for bouquets and stand in the water for a long time. Flowering begins immediately after melting snow and lasts two weeks, prefers very moist, almost marshy soils. This species is suitable for winter distillation.

Landing of the leukoyum

Like most spring flowers, the leukoyum prefers light, slightly acidic moist soils.

Bulbs are best left in one place a little bit and transplanted only as needed. At a late planting, flowering in the first season is weak. Plant bulbs in pre-prepared soil (a mixture of humus and peat with the addition of a complex mineral fertilizer). Depth of planting -10 cm, the distance between the bulbs is also 10 cm.

Reproduction

White flowers are winter-hardy and unpretentious plants that love moisture. They multiply rapidly by children and seeds. Bulbs are dug in July-September, dried a little and immediately transplanted, because they do not like overdrying. Seedlings do not differ from the original species and begin to bloom in the third year.

Place in the design

White flowers, especially the summer look, are a wonderful decoration for the banks of streams and small ponds. They are successfully used in group plantings, alpine hills, rockeries and borders.
