It is not the first time that the topic of selecting a variety of fruit trees is being raised. I decided to do my bit to discuss it. Once upon a time, back in the eighties, my mother planted a pear seedling for the first time in the garden (before that, only apple trees grew). Neither the name of the variety nor the timing of its fruiting, we did not know, and therefore with great interest and impatience waited for the tree to grow and give the first harvest.

Finally, it happened, and only then, in the shape of the fruit and the crown of the tree, we managed to establish that it was Bessemyanka, a real autumn variety. This pear grows in my garden till now, perfectly fructifies every year, as if passing me greetings from my mother, who is no longer alive.

But no matter how good its fruit tastes, they ripen only in the middle of September, and the pear wants to eat in the summer. And at the end of 90 I planted two seedlings of the Lada variety. After three or four years, one of these trees already gave the first fruits and then began to give them annually, gradually increasing the amount. It seems that you can only rejoice, but there were problems, which I will talk about later, and in the course of the letter you will understand why.

But the second pear to follow the example of his girlfriend refused flatly (for all this time, even never bloomed), preferring only to grow rapidly. Upwards she was stretching straight ahead with some sort of frenzy. In the end, I had a suspicion that this is wild. And if so, then it's senseless to let things go by themselves. But it was a pity to uproot the tree, which I had been caring for seven years, and I decided to re-train him. Cuttings were sent to me from the Ryazan region. I chose two varieties: Rusanovskaya and Marble.

In April I started to work. Since I had no experience then I first practiced on the branches of maple. The easiest way to perform me seemed to be the method of inoculation for the cortex, and I decided to stick to it. Having stuffed her hand, she took courage and took up the pear.

In this way I pereprvila half the crown (two lower tiers of branches), and its center was left alone, so as not to disturb the balance of the development of the crown and the root system.

All my vaccinations have taken root and have grown. Moreover, Rusanovskaya significantly overtook Marble. Gradually, as vaccinations grew, I removed the entire original crown, leaving only one branch, as I hoped to still wait for fruiting on it. I waited six years - and all in vain.

But by this time the Rusanovskaya vaccinations had bloomed for the first time. How long did they “swing”? Yes. And I don’t know what is the reason: either the variety is to blame, or because I did not form these vaccinations, allowing them to grow freely. But the wait was worth it, the fruits are excellent, large, very juicy and sweet. Ripen in August gradually, do not require a one-time collection, they can lie in the refrigerator for almost a month. Fruits Rusanovskaya every year, and very plentifully.

But the branches of Marble, even after another six years and never bloomed, and in the general difficulties over 12 years have grown very weakly. But at last the “native” branch that I left bloomed, which produced small, tasteless, stained fruits that, when ripe, fell and broke into a cake. I ended up cutting this thread.

Weaknesses - Continued Strengths

Now about that very, first, well-bearing pear Lada. It turns out that abundant fruiting also has its drawbacks. While the tree was small, the entire crop, as they say, was eaten on the vine. When it became high, problems began. The fruits ripen on it in late July. Often it’s very warm, even hot, at this time, and because of this, the pears are poured too quickly - two or three days will pass, you look, and they are all yellow.

It is necessary to remove them urgently, otherwise they will overripe and become crumbly, dry, like boiled potatoes. None of them in this form is no longer.

And where to put 10 buckets of this good? You won’t let it in for processing - there is no juice. I tried to shoot unripe fruits - also not an option, because they are tasteless. And when I get vaccinated Rusanovsky they fertilized, on Lada in general all stopped paying attention.

What to do? There is only one way out - to retrain, especially since some experience has appeared. Again I wrote the cuttings by mail (now in a private nursery). This time I chose three varieties: Malvina, Cathedral and Slastena. Lada I grew up in two trunks (a fork in 40 cm from the ground), and here is one of them I completely and pereprilila these cuttings. Two years later they were fertilized.

Malvina produced fruits that are small, round, but so sweet and juicy that they can be eaten "even immature. Sweets the taste turned out to be mediocre and insipid, even with bitter taste, and I later removed this vaccine.
