Last year, most likely, after the icy rain, my two cherries were frozen. What if the branches of the trees are covered with ice cake? Can they somehow help?

The ice crust on trees, or ice, is indeed a rather serious problem for gardeners. It arises not only from the more frequent recent icy rains, but also during the thaw, spring snowmelt. Cracks and frost bumps may appear on icy trees on fruit trees and bushes, in which pathogenic microorganisms subsequently settle, branches and trunks break, generative and freeze
vegetative buds, young shoots. Small trees and bushes can be saved from the formation of ice cover, covering them with lapnika. Large (adult) plants from ice to save is very difficult. You can only advise to strengthen the immunity of trees in the warm period with the help of necessary fertilizing, as well as shake off the branches from snow during thaws and spring snowmelt.

It so happened that my summer residence for several years lived an independent life. Once fruitful fruit trees turned mostly into ornamental trees, and the seedlings with which it was planned to renovate the garden grew up in fluffy bushes and, naturally, did not bear fruit. It seemed that the situation could be rectified only by completely renovating the entire garden. And yet, mass rooting decided to postpone and update the garden gradually. Within a year it became clear that the decision was right.
In the autumn, I cut off all the extra cherry shoots, leaving only one trunk. Some trees still had to be disposed of. Soot-
whether their parents 7 years ago, most likely, guided by the principle of "plant more often, and suddenly do not get accustomed." Cherries took root all, so the distance between them was no more than 1,5 m. I dug up the trees around the trees, but not deep enough to damage the roots.
My soil is clay, cherries grow on a small, but still a slope. So that irrigation water does not go down, I made a small mound around the perimeter - it turned out to be a bowl. ” And so that the clay soil does not turn into solid shards under the sun, the excavated surface was mulched by mowed lawn grass and sawdust.
Next spring the cherries blossomed densely, but we did not wait for the fruits again. Experienced neighbors came to the rescue. We were advised to water and fertilize the cherries with manure or a bird droppings. In addition, I received a proven recipe for years to prepare a useful fertilizer: the litter should be diluted with water about 1: 15 and insist for several hours. The resulting fertilizer was poured around the perimeter of the dug-in-the-hole. " I got a couple of buckets of wood. Three weeks later repeated feeding.
The soil around the cherries before watering I sprinkled a thin layer of ash several times a season.
In August, the watering of the trees was stopped, so that they would calmly prepare for the winter. In the fall, I dug up the subtrees again, removed the extra growth. In this form, my cherry garden safely wintered.
This spring, the cherry blossomed again, as if sprinkled. And although there were some blossoms, there was a tangible harvest.

Several cherries grow in my garden. And here on one of them, young, which only just started to bear fruit, grew a dense white mushroom. What to do with him?

My dacha is next to the forest. Perhaps this is the reason that cherries do not bear fruit. They say that pine pollen neutralizes cherry blossoms. This is true? And another: a couple of years ago planted two cherry trees of the variety Nord Star. There are fruits, but, unfortunately, very small. What can be done to make them larger?

      1) About the cherry: it's a delusion. Pollen of pine can not neutralize the flowering of cherries, tk. the pine blossoms a month later.
      2) The Nord-old variety is characterized by high self-fertility, i.e. the ability to tie fruits from pollination by the pollen of flowers of the same variety (tree), which ensures annual fruiting. Fruits in a variety with a mass of 4-4,5 g are an average for cherries. If they are smaller on your trees, improve the care of plants. In autumn, add organics (compost or rotted manure - 5-10 kg per 1 sq. M.), Or a complex mineral fertilizer - 100 g per tree. And always water more often, especially in the heat.

    Relative - laurelя

If you want to decorate your site with an unusual plant, to form a spectacular hedge and also to collect an excellent crop of delicious fruits, laurel cherry is the best choice for these purposes. This is an evergreen bush, less often a tree up to 8 m high. The laurel cherry has a lot of advantages: shade-tolerant, it can grow even under the crowns of trees. And also - gas-, smoke-resistant, so it feels great in urban environments. It is undemanding to soil fertility, but prefers light and medium loams with the addition of humus and sand. Regular irrigation is mandatory, however, laurel cherry does not tolerate stagnation of water - good drainage is required. In the middle lane, plants are quite winter-hardy (heat-loving forms are grown in tubs). Lavrovishnya tolerates haircut and shaping (it is better to do it at the end of summer), with which the crown can easily be given any shape.
