Gatzania Flower - Growing
HAPPY IN LAST YEARS TO US INTO FASHION GARDENS FOR HOLIDAY EXTRACTS HAS BEEN ATTENDED ON THE CLUBS OF THE MOST DETERMINED, UNEXPECTABLE AND MENTALLY REPRESENTATIVE REPRESENTATIVES OF FLORA. IN MY FLOWER, ONE OF SUCH PIECES, STARTS HATSENA
As they say, in the beginning there was a word, that is, I liked the name of the plant itself - gatsaniya!
If you pronounce it slowly, then the combination of sounds resembles a romantic motif.
And when I saw the photo of gatsaniya, I immediately rushed for the seeds, familiarizing myself with its seedling method of growing before (it was March in the yard - seedling-but-sowing month).
From the proposed at the time a scant assortment chose a mixture of colors. So began my romance with gatsania.
And judging by its abundant and long flowering - love was mutual!
FOR THE NOTICE
Gatzania - a bright, sunny annual plant of the Astrov family - came to us from Africa, more precisely, Mozambique and Angola are its homeland. So the struggle for survival in the conditions of the strongest scorching heat is inherent in the genes of this plant - hence the long (up to 5 cm) core root in seedlings
In Russia, gatsaniyu bred only in seedlings. Sowing seeds, you must remember that you will only be able to admire the flowering after three months. And this means that mid-March is the most suitable time for sowing. Seeds collected by me and other gardeners in summer cottages have a fluffy tail.

This circumstance led to an anecdotal situation. Remembering how smooth the purchased ones looked, I tried to free the seeds from this very tail.
Whatever she did: both the muzzle and the crumple - it is useless! Desperate to bring them into proper shape, at its own risk and risk sowed as is. To my surprise, in a week I received amicable shoots. So, as it turned out, the presence of the tail of the seeds for their germination does not affect.
Siyu gatsaniyu in transparent plastic covers from the cake. With the blunt end of the pencil, I scale the grooves in the wet pound to 0,5 cm deep and insert them into 1 seed. Lightly sprinkle, close the tray with a cake or cellophane and wait for the shoots. A care for seedlings is the most common: I do not fill, temper, ventilate, feed at least once with a fertilizer for seedlings.
In no case do not dive gatsanii: so its long roots will be damaged. That is why the seeds are sown one at a distance of 3-4 cm from each other. By the way, seeds germinate for two years (tested empirically). But I collect fresh annually.
I plant seedlings in the open ground in mid-May: at this time it is sunny and warm, and frosts are no longer terrible! But gatsaniya is demanding to the landing site: only the sunniest and driest places are suitable for it (again, the genetic memory of hot Africa). The soil respects light, well-drained soil - the plant should not be transfused.
After planting the days through 10 I carry out top dressing with a solution of urea (1 spoon on a bucket of water), then before flowering I water the herbal infusion with the addition of ash. If time will allow, then in a month additional infusion can be repeated.
No pests were noticed on my gatsaniya, since before planting seedlings of all annuals, the soil in the plot was cultivated by Fitoverm or Fitosporin (according to instructions).
The clusters of khatsanii in their full development reach 30 cm in height.
Drought and wind are not terrible for them. Since June flowering begins, the flower bowl opens in all its splendor by noon. Coloring can be very diverse: from light yellow to solid brown to dark brown. Motley flowers also look very stylish.
In the design of the flower garden, I try to arrange gatzany in the neighborhood with small-flowered plants. Last season, these were lobelia and alissum, and this year - ageratum (white and blue). In the same flowerbed, I planted some coleus of dark colors.
To maintain the decorativeness of the flowerbed, faded inflorescences must be removed on time (except for those specimens that are left on the seeds) - this also perfectly stimulates the appearance of new buds. But in the evening the flower closes like a sun hiding behind the horizon. But the festival of life that continues the next day continues. And so - all summer and early autumn until the very first light frosts that gatsaniya easily tolerates. No less decorative are the leaves of this annual: narrow, long, gray-green in color, with a slight pubescence, patterned indented.

On seeds I select flowers of the color I like most. Cut in the morning or evening with a small pedicel, I send in the shadow of the veranda for two weeks. Then I take out fluffy seeds from the cotyledon and dry them on the closet in warmth and shade. I store all seeds in jars from creams and round plastic boxes from Chinese sauces (they are served to sushi and rolls).
In autumn, the flowering bushes of gatzania are transferred into large plates and transferred to a closed loggia of a city apartment. Until spring, to my great regret, they cannot be preserved, but flowering is ensured for two months. Apparently, indoors gatsaniya not enough sunlight, but sorry! But the winter months fly by quickly, and from the end of February the season begins again - life goes on.

GANCING - GROWING, PLANTING AND CARE - TIPS FOR FLORAL GROWERS
AFRICAN CHAMOMILE - GAZANIA
Fell in love with her at first sight. Bright and variegated flowers of gatsania, or African chamomile, delight me all summer, right up to the frost!
3-4 months pass from sowing to the beginning of flowering, so I sow seeds in late January-early February. I use peat tablets for this in order to avoid picking in the future (plants have a delicate taproot), and with the arrival of heat I plant them directly in the flower garden.
Before sowing, I put peat tablets in a tray with warm, settled water. After 5-7 minutes, when they begin to swell, I make a depression on the top of each, put a seed and sprinkle it with a thin layer of peat, lightly press down. I spray it from a spray bottle and cover it with a film or a transparent lid (I have special containers for sowing). I put it in a bright place. On the 7-10th day, seedlings appear. Until two true leaves form, I keep the lid closed, I remove it only to periodically shake off the condensation.
SECRETS OF CARING FOR RADIANT RADIATION
At first, gatsania grows very slowly, increasing the root system. In the future, with the acceleration of development, so that the seedlings do not stretch, I illuminate with a phytolamp (with a timer) from 6 to 9 in the morning and in the evening from 16 to 22 hours.
Gatsania does not like waterlogging and overdrying - balance is important. As the substrate dries in peat tablets, I moisten it by pouring warm settled water into the pan.
From about mid-March, I gradually lower the temperature to + 10-15 degrees. To do this, I take out the seedlings on a cool veranda or glazed balcony.
SUCCESSFUL MOVING
In late April and early May, I plant gatsaniya in the front garden in a sunny place without drafts. In the shade, the flowers become smaller or flowering stops altogether. When they dry up, I definitely cut them off. I water the plants in moderation. Subject to these conditions, gatsaniya pleases with its unique beauty all season.

I want to grow an African chamomile for my alpine slide. When can you sow seeds?

- This exotic flower, also known as gatsania, will decorate not only the garden, but also the balcony, the area near the house. It is quite popular for our latitudes - brilliant (Gazania splendens) - grown more often as an annual. But if you try, you can admire the bright large (diameter up to 8-10 cm) inflorescences, reminiscent of mottled daisies, several years in a row, because by its nature this plant is perennial.
I sow seeds of seedling on seedlings in late February-early March, evenly distributing them on the wet surface of the purchased soil mixed with sand (3: 1). Top with a thin layer of compost and cover with glass. Seedlings appear in about two weeks. Adult seedlings dive into separate cups.
On a permanent place planted at the end of spring frosts, at a distance of 20-25 cm from each other (usually I draw a border with them). Thermophilic and drought-resistant beauty prefers sunny areas with loose nutrient soil. I water only in hot weather. I feed twice a month with liquid fertilizer for flower plants (according to the instructions).
Also grow gatsaniyu and as pot culture. In the summer, pots with "daisies" are beautiful everywhere, where there is a lot of sun. For winter I transfer to a cool bright room. In March, shoots cut at an altitude of about 5 cm, I transplant the bushes in new pots with fresh soil.
