How to grow black pepper at home
MALABAR BERRIES
Black pepper grows in the subtropics, so that the climatic conditions of our country do not suit him at all. But why not try to grow overseas spice on the windowsill?
BLACK PEPPER = INDIAN ROOTS
But first I wanted to know where black pepper came from. As it turned out, he began his distribution from India from the Malabar coast. Therefore, I received the name of the Malabar berry.
Culture has nothing to do with hot red or bell peppers. (They belong to the nightshade family, and this one belongs to the pepper family.) It is a tree-like vine, reaching a length of 15 m. Its leaves are leathery, oval, with pointed tips, up to 10 cm long. On the underside of the leaves there are discharge in the form white grains that subsequently darken. The flowers are small, whitish, collected in inflorescences, catkins up to 10 cm. Fruits are spicy peas up to 0,5 cm in diameter. At first they are green, then they blush. Fruits vines twice a year for 20-30 years.

GREEN, RED, WHITE PEPPER ...
Green and red fruits are dried under a canopy, getting green and red peppercorns. In order to blacken the fruits, they are collected half red, boiled and boiled
dried in the sun. And by soaking black peas in water for a week and taking off the softened surface layer (pericarp), they get white pepper.
Spicy peas are added to the dishes whole or ground to give them a piquant island taste. In addition, pepper is recommended to use to strengthen the cardiovascular system and improve digestion. Black pepper treat respiratory diseases and skin diseases.
SEEDS OF BLACK PEPPER FROM PRODMAGA
Having learned so much interesting pepper, I ran a few flower shops, but I could not find the seeds of this culture. I had to buy a bag of black pepper in a supermarket in the seasoning department. At home, I chose the ones that are larger. She poured them 1 a glass of warm boiled water, added 1 art. l. Aloe juice and left for a day soaked. Then she sowed peas in pots with a nutrient substrate, by covering it with 1 cm. Covered with plastic bags.
The first shoots appeared only on the 26 day. From 10 seeds 6 sprouted. In general, black pepper is advised to be sown in spring. But I did this in December, so I put a phytolamp over the crops. Favorable temperature for the development of plants 25-28 °. Culture does not tolerate cold and drafts. At temperatures 10 ° and below, it may die.
WINTER - AT PEACE
Pepper needs plentiful watering with warm water, spraying leaves and mineral complex feeding every 2 weeks. Under the flexible shoots of plants, I installed wire frames. An ideal place for culture is the western and eastern windows. On the southern windowsills at noon, plants should be shaded from the burning rays of the sun. In the north, highlight.
Every summer I bring my peppers to the balcony. In winter, I arrange for them a rest period (at a temperature of 18-20 °), reducing watering and stopping feeding. It’s enough to transplant bushes into more spacious pots 1 times in 2 of the year (I have transplanted only once so far). I make up the substrate for plants from turf and leafy soil, humus, sand, peat (2: 2: 2: 1: 1). Pepper blooms in April and May. Begins to bear fruit in the 3 year (I have not yet borne fruit).

PEPPER CHILDREN
Having grown at least one pepper, then you can propagate it with cuttings. It is necessary to prepare a substrate from leaf soil and sand (2: 1). Cut a few strong healthy branches from the bush. Everyone should be with 2 kidneys. Pour a nutritious substrate into the pots and moisten it. Cut the cuttings into the substrate and cover them with jars.
Favorable rooting temperature 26 °. When the branches let the roots, the banks need to be removed.
You can also propagate pepper, dividing its bushes during the transplant, or by layers. To do this, it is necessary to bend down long shoots and pinned them to the soil in pots with metal brackets. With regular watering, the branches should soon take root. After that, they can be separated from the mother plant with a sharp knife.

Growing Black Pepper in Home Conditions - Gardener Tips
Gift with a point
Few people know that black pepper (allspice, which we call "peas") grows well at home. I grow it for a long time. Once a friend looked in to visit, invited her to an anniversary. And when asked what to give her, she replied that she wanted the same elegant pepper in a pot.
You can sow it with ordinary peas that are sold in grocery stores. But look at the packaging - they should be assembled and packed no more than a year ago. I wrap some of the largest peas from the pack in gauze, pour warm water and put on the battery for two days. I fill a pot with a volume of 3 l mixed with half compost with purchased soil (pre-made drainage), spill abundantly with hot water. I sow peas to a depth of 1 cm.
I put a plastic bag on the pot. I keep it in the warmest place in the kitchen - above the stove on the shelf. When shoots appear - I remove the shelter, and I rearrange the container on the windowsill. I leave the strongest sprout in the pot, cut off the rest. With the advent of the second leaf, I feed the plant (1 / 4 teaspoon of urea and 1,5 ml of potassium humate I dilute in 0,5 l of water).
The next day, loosen the soil and mulch it with dry moss. Care tips are simple. It is better to keep black pepper on the windowsill, where there is no direct sunlight. Water and spray on time, feed once a month with complex mineral fertilizer. Consider that it is a liana, she needs support. Usually the plant blooms in the second or third year. Fruits (peas) appear in 6-7 months after flowering.

OUR REFERENCE
From spring to autumn, pour black pepper in the usual way - so that the soil does not dry out, but is not too wet. Beginning in autumn, reduce watering and water even less often in winter - the plant should have a dormant period. Also in the fall and winter, do not feed.
ROOM BLACK PEPPER
A couple of years ago I got a packet of fresh large black pepper seeds. I planted them in universal soil, after soaking them in water overnight. She covered the ground with a plastic glass, periodically ventilated, slightly moistened. The seeds "thought" for a long time (it was autumn in the yard), shoots appeared more than a month later.
CARE OF SEEDLINGS OF BLACK PEPPER
At the stage of development of the second pair of leaves, she carefully transplanted the seedlings into separate pots. Two weeks later, I fed him with a complex mineral fertilizer. For a whole year, the peppers increased their green mass. Watered and sprayed them with filtered water, applied fertilizer once a month. When my beauties grew, I realized that I was dealing with vines. Then they could be grown in hanging pots, but I installed supports for lashes in the pots.
FROM FLOWERS TO FRUIT
In the early spring of last year, she transplanted the peppers into fresh soil, made up of equal parts of leaf, humus and turf soil, peat, sand. In May, the plants bloomed, and then green peas appeared. When the fruits turned red, I picked them up and dried them.
Try growing black pepper. If you don't know where to get the seeds, buy a bag at the grocery store, pick out the largest peas and plant them. My neighbor did it!

On my balcony (I have it 6 m long) I made a mini-garden. Our balcony is very sunny. I used to keep homemade flowers there in the summer, plant hot peppers, they are decorative. Slowly I began to try other garden plants. Now I definitely grow parsley, celery, basil and sweet bell pepper on the balcony.
Varieties of peppers are tall and short. Tall ones grow on the balcony not as tall as indicated in the characteristic. But the fruits themselves are much tastier than those of pepper grown on the site (in a greenhouse). The peppers on my balcony are juicy, the wall is plump, and of the same size as indicated in the characteristics of this variety.
Pepper greens do not fade until frost (unlike tomatoes). I grow them in about 11 liter pots. I take garden and purchased land for peppers (2: 1), fertilize once (when they bloom). And I pollinate the flowers by hand with a brush.
I want to try growing eggplant this summer.
