Once I ordered a plant according to the catalog, but the parcel arrived in the spring, and this is not a good time for planting an eremurus. Yes, and the rhizome was of poor quality, in general, it disappeared. A little later in the local market I was able to choose a good product and an interesting variety.
Planting and care Planted an eremurus in September. The place was chosen sunny and calm, where snow melts early and there is no stagnation of water. The landing pit was filled with garden soil mixed with loose compost (1: 1). She put the rhizome in the hole, lightly poured water with the addition of “Kornevin” and covered it with soil. In the spring appeared sprouts. Over the summer, he formed a small rosette of long leaves. There was no flowering, and at the height of the season the plant went to rest. Since this period was rainy, I covered the sleeping eremurus with a light plastic sheet. In late autumn, it was additionally insulated with marigold stems.

The plant survived the winter with a bang. Soon after removing the shelter from the ground, several peppy kidneys appeared, then turned into sockets. Caring for them came down to
loosening the soil, removing weeds, moderate watering in dry weather, fertilizing with complex fertilizer.

In that year, I did not see the flowers, because I accidentally broke a young flower stalk. And only for the third season I was able to enjoy the bright inflorescences! Gradually, several rosettes with spectacular flowers formed over which bees and bumblebees circled. In October, I usually cut off dried stalks. But next season I want to collect seeds from them and try to sow.

I want to share and transplant my eremurus to another place. When is it better to start? Is it possible to propagate it with seeds?

      - Eremurus heavily tolerate transplantation, as when digging small long roots are damaged, the plants eventually recover for a long time, they may not blossom for a year. Delyu only if necessary, once in 6-7 years, at the end of August. I dig out the bush and move it under the canopy - dry for three weeks. I cut off the dry plant remains, divide the rhizome into parts, shortening the roots, and planted on a sunny, sheltered from the wind place.
Now you can propagate the eremurus only with seeds. I sow them right after harvesting (late in the autumn, under winter, as they quickly lose their germination) in tall boxes with loose soil. I fill up to a depth of 1 cm and hold until spring at a temperature of + 15-18 degrees, periodically spraying the crops from the spray gun.
In the spring, an insignificant part of the seeds is pecked, the rest in the summer (may even next year). A box with shoots at this time is carried to the greenhouse, watered. For the winter I mulch the soil with dry grass, leaves, I cover with a spunbond.

Next spring I plant seedlings in separate pots, I am tempering in the fresh air. After the death of young leaves (usually at the end of summer, perennial enters a period of rest), watering is reduced, I bring pets to the warmest place in the greenhouse and for the winter I again cover with lapnik. I'm going to the flower gardens for the fourth year.
