Cucumbers in one place for many years in a row - how?
Disputes about whether it is possible to grow this crown "snack" culture on the same beds for several years in a row do not subside, and it is unlikely that they will, in truth, subside. And all because each controversial person has something to show the opponent.
And this next progress report is no exception.
Garden embarrassment
Without excessive modesty, I will say that my experience as a gardener is 44 years. And like any farmer-farmer, I have my favorites among the inhabitants of the beds - these are cucumbers. I was born and grew up in a village, and there we grew them, as they say, in bulk, salted huge barrels. Cucumbers grew on richly manicured long beds (they brought land from the forest and for some reason called spring).
And I remember that before the war two Chinese families lived in our village. What kind of apple orchards they grew! In truck farming they were also great masters: in the greenhouses, cabbage, tomatoes and, of course, cucumbers were grown in a huge quantity, but only they had all kinds of these cultures, special ones.
Most of all I was just amazed by their cucumbers. That's how I, as a child, in 40-s years, first met a long-bodied variety, which is now considered to be some kind of unseen and called Chinese. I remember how my grandmother wore them home with arms, like firewood. And they were delicious.
I’m all telling that growing cucumbers was a familiar thing for me. But here’s the mystery: when I, becoming a city dweller, getting married and deciding to start a summer cottage with my husband, started growing them on my own land (oh, how I was drawn to it in the city!), Nothing good came of it. Miracles, and only: all other vegetables grow, and these - in no way. From year to year one and the same picture: they grow, bloom and ... begin to wither, because their whips either rot away, then the roots. The time for harvesting is approaching, but we have not yet tasted a fresh harvest.
And then one day old acquaintances came to our country house. They watched me grieve over the wilted lashes, and they began to retrain me. Thanks to them, I learned how to treat plants, how to prepare a greenhouse and how to fill it. And at the heart of everything is the most common ash (cucumbers respect it very much). And here I’ll run a little ahead: my husband and I learned all these rules, considered them, tested them, filled their hands, now our crops are excellent. But most importantly - we grow cucumbers in the same place for 20 years in a row!

Neighbors cucumbers on the greenhouse
And now I will tell you how it all happens. The husband from the logs made a skeleton of a greenhouse with a length of 3 m, width 1,2 m, height 70 cm. In autumn, I lay the chamfered grass, cut off whips, any tops, flowers, pour over the pack of complex fertilizer (pre-mix its contents with sawdust), ram my feet and I put on top of the fertile soil a layer of about 30 cm.
Over the winter, this filling settles, to equalize in the spring, I add humus and ash to the hotbed, mixing them and closing them.
Then I shovel the grooves along the walls (from their inner side) and fill them first with quick lime, and then the leaves that have been prepared since autumn. Plentifully watered with hot water, quickly fall asleep a layer of earth (10 cm), level and cover with polyethylene.
What happens: lime is extinguished, the foliage begins to pereprevat, allocate heat and heat the earth in the greenhouse.
The remaining gap between the grooves is well watered, I sow two radishes in it, I cover the seeds with dry soil and also cover it with film. And it turns out that the whole soil in the boy is under my cover. I put the arc from a thick wire and pull them on clothespins with a dense non-woven material. Two days later I check the ground: if I warm up, I take off the film and in the grooves sow the seeds of cucumbers (dry or sprouted, no matter the difference) - I water them, lightly sprinkle dry land and again cover it with film, but put it not directly on the beds, but on laid plank, so that it does not touch the sprouts, which will soon proklyutsya. I completely remove it, only when a couple of real leaves appear on the plants.
And now about the neighbor of cucumbers - radish. As soon as it rises, I immediately soak the seeds of corn, plant them in drawers and put them on the window. The radish has ripened, I tear it out, and in its place I plant the grown corn in one row to the cucumbers. If the seedlings of cucumbers are pulled, I pour humus under it.
When the whip begins to grow, I remove the arcs with the covering material and make a garter of cucumbers. I have hooks made of thick wire. I stick them into the ground and attach to them pieces of twine, the opposite ends of which I tie to the ridge of the greenhouse (and that, in turn, is mounted on the cola fixed on the ends of the frame). I tie the string to the string. If the nights are cool, then I throw on the skate cover material.
Every 10 days, from July to mid-August, I sprinkle whips with ash, sifting it through a colander. And I do top dressing every week - an infusion of nettle, celandine, burdock, manure, ash, leftover bread, old jam and yeast (then I brew this “brew” by 2 liters per bucket of water).
Once every three years, in autumn, I take out of my greenhouse completely the entire earth to a depth of 1 m, fill the resulting foundation trencher with organic fertilizer (described in detail above), tamp everything well, I add the previously removed soil from above and plant rye in the greenhouse or mustard.
Before winter, I cut off the green manure, close it up, and everything remains until spring. And in the spring - the same procedures that I have already talked about. That's how my cucumbers grow in one place for a couple of decades. I harvest crops that are enough for two families, and I also supply the neighbors.

Cucumbers do not get sick from ash; there are no aphids on them. Corn picks up excess moisture and serves as a support for them. Lime lowers acidity and heals the earth. And no need to move the greenhouse to another place - convenient!
Cucumbers in one place - questions and answers
We have been growing cucumbers in one place for seven years already, because we installed a support on the bed, from the top we cover with non-woven material. Carrying a structure every year is a problem. What can be done to continue not to change cucumbers place, because in greenhouses grow cucumbers from year to year?
Vera I.
SEVOOBOOT is an indisputable point of agricultural technology of any culture. This was known even by our ancestors, who did not read the textbooks and the newspaper "Garden-garden". Remember the fairy tales about the top-roots and alternate the cultures, if only according to this folklore principle: if in this season you grew roots (carrots, beets, onions, potatoes, daikon, etc.) in the garden, then in the next season replace them with apes - cabbage, cucumbers , tomatoes.
Nowhere you will not find any recommendations for planting cucumbers for cucumbers even two consecutive seasons. And seven years is an obvious search. Removal of the same nutrients (cucumbers "consume" a lot of nitrogen, potassium), the accumulation of diseases, pests, for which pumpkin cultures are the "habitat", lead to the fact that cucumbers lose their yields each season: malnutrition, pests, diseases quickly disable them. If you add organic matter to the soil every year, fed cucumbers will resist infection longer, sucking insects, but not to infinity. And do not compare your beds with greenhouses. They use very labor-intensive technologies for improving the soil, which the villagers can not afford and can not afford. Change the soil in the garden is much more difficult than putting the cucumber supports in yet another area. It is not necessary to carry them, as it is convenient to grow cucumber on tapestry.
Perfectly feel "tied up" tall tomatoes. Many summer residents have long been convinced that it is more convenient to grow tomatoes in this way and more profitable. Not in contact with the soil, the plants are less likely to get sick, the fruits do not rot, and the caterpillars of the scoop, slugs are very scarce. Yes, and handle the vertical wall of stems and leaves from pests, diseases can be simplified and, most importantly, more effectively if necessary. What if you do not want to give up the favorite determinant variety? Not very high tomatoes are also not forbidden to grow on trellis. Their shoots will not grow to two meters, but up to one and a half can quite "reach out".
Cucumbers are considered good precursors of tomatoes, and tomatoes are cucumbers. Alternating them, it is already possible to reduce the harmful influence of permanent cultivation of one crop in the garden. Intermediate culture can be legumes, for example, curly beans. Peas also bear fruit better, feeling the support.
And the fact that his stems at a height of two meters will not be taken, is still secondary. It is important that the bed is not empty, a stationary trellis is involved. You will get a harvest, improving and enriching the soil.
CUERATES will help to reduce the gap between crops of the same culture. Sown rye will loosen the lower layers of the soil, pull nutrients into the root crop, improve the soil structure. Legumes will heal the soil, enrich it with nitrogen.
