Why do plums fall?
If the plums are crumbling before ripening
Mail every year plums in my garden bloom profusely, tie fruit, well poured. But in July-August, when the time comes for their ripening, they massively crumble. What is the reason and how to help the trees save the fruit before they are fully ripened and cleaned?
OK.
The cause of massive damage to plums already beginning to ripen or ripened is the plum moth. We must think about protecting plum trees from this disaster right now - in the phase of mass natural shedding of excess ovary and the beginning of the formation and growth of fruits.
It is these days that the mass of butterflies of the first generation (generation) of the pest coming from the caterpillars that left after the wintering season has been massed.
Their flight usually lasts more than a month. And it is necessary during this time to destroy as many butterflies as possible, and then caterpillars. The less they remain
(and, probably, it will be possible to completely get rid of them), the less likely is the escape from the pupae of second-generation butterflies (generation), the caterpillars of which just in July and August damage already large ripening fruits.

And now, and then in July-August, for the destruction of butterflies and caterpillars, trees should be treated with one of the permitted preparations: Arrivo, Calypso, Match, Sherpa, Confidor, Confidor Maxi.
To limit the use of poisons, try to put on the trunks of the hunting belts, from which you must choose the caterpillars accumulated there.
It is also necessary to carefully collect the carrion throughout the day, without leaving it for the night.
After all, it is at night that the caterpillars leave the fallen fruits and climb along the trunks into the crown of trees and penetrate into the fruits, which become wormy and fall off.

WHY BAD FRUITS FRUITS
Somehow at first the plum at me badly fructified, like and blossomed, and looked after it. Then I consulted an experienced gardener.
First, plum trees should be several and different varieties so that they are pollinated from each other.
Secondly, when planting, pay attention to the root neck was at ground level or slightly lower.
In the autumn I feed up plums with wood ash (500-600 g for 1 sq. M).
1 time in 2-3 years I sprinkle rotted manure - 4 kg per 1 sq. m
My plum pleases me and my family with a harvest.

Plum loves neutral soils - but ours is acidic. Therefore, when planting, it was necessary to add lime (400-800 g / m2) to the soil.
Many do this when planting and in the future forget about the preferences of the tree. However, it is necessary to lime the soil every 5-6 years. It is introduced into the soil for digging during the period of the next autumn top dressing. On lighter soils, the amount of lime is minimal, and on heavy soils, the maximum amount I have specified.
