Planting of potatoes on a site under a bias - a double row
With the mind on the slope
Having read about different methods of planting potatoes, I began to write out the most interesting of them in a notebook. Then she began to slowly try to use something in the garden. So I want to talk about what came of all this last year. So, the slope of my site to the south, the soil is normal, seasoned with humus (all autumn and early spring I let go chickens there). Two years ago, I had already stopped digging it, and it’s not getting heavier, so I’ll just loosen the beds before planting - that’s all the preparatory work. Here, by the way, about landing. It occurred to me the following thought: since there is a bias, it is somehow necessary to adapt it wisely.
Why not plant deeper.
And she did it.
The potato that was put off for planting (about six or seven buckets) was planted in advance. As soon as the dandelion blossomed in the garden (I specifically leave it for this at the track), I started to work. Two days before the landing, I cut large tubers into pieces, prepared ash, onion husks, superphosphate, snow water (snow at the end of winter
I put in a separate container in the garden) with a solution of a microbiological preparation. Rows made from the east to the west (the slope is southern). I dug out 12 shots on the bayonet, poured them in a pinch of superfos veil, a handful of ashes and husk. Then shoveled it all, poured (according to 1 L of water per pit) and put the pieces of tubers sprouts down.
She fell asleep with earth, but not completely - left small recesses so that during rain the water did not immediately slide down the slope, but was delayed.
The next row of holes was digging in staggered order.

All planted with double rows.
True, I was sorry for the land, but for the sake of experiment I drove this pity away. The entire landing was made in three sets.
Why be killed? After all, not 10 acres for potatoes set aside, but only two. When the shoots broke through, they settled down on the level with the ground so that the tops of the plants looked only very small.
This is where the wide passages (70 cm) between the double rows came in handy: they scattered grass after the first hilling, and cardboard after the second. And I didn’t go with a hoe anymore, I pulled only a few weed “creeps”.
To trample down on potato beds
Now a little step away from the story about the experiment and a couple of words I will say about one of my old agropriems.
Everywhere much is written about the fact that During the flowering of potatoes, flowers must be cut off immediately. And I do not do it right away: I let the flowers hang on the day (they crawl on the insects) and only clean them in the evening. What's the point? I think so: if you do not let the potatoes bloom, then it will be blasphemy. Violated its entire life cycle. I noticed that if you start to break off the buds, it gives out peduncles on other shoots, and this weakens it.
And a good yield increase gives toppling of the tops. A week after the breakage of the flowers, I start walking right along it (I tried this method earlier on two rows and the result was satisfied). The next day after this "mockery" of the tops trying to get up, and then I again trample on it. And on the third day I have to do it.
A after this, the tops are trying to get their stepchildren up, but this only makes it more prenet.
Now back to the experiment. Before cleaning, my husband cut the tops with a secate (a sickle or scythe is not very
convenient to wield). When the bushes were being dug, some of them had to be processed twice with a shovel - at one time they could not dump them out. Total from six buckets of planted potatoes dug up 40. This was enough for us for the eyes, and also sent my daughter to the city. Now I'm the only way I will plant. True, my daughter dissuaded me from using superphosphate, they say, phosphorus is in the ash. Well, it’s even better, we won’t spend money on buying unnecessary. And I’ll definitely do double rows. My favorite grade is Blue Eye. I plant it for summer consumption, and then in this place at the end of June I plant another bucket (with watering in micronutrient wells), and by the end of October new potatoes grow.
By the way, I process other cultures with a solution of the microbiological preparation. Last year, I tried to treat them to tomatoes, and the result was simply amazing: they grew to the very frosts, and the greenhouses waved to the ceiling, and for a second, 3. We had to bend them, and they grew and grew.
I took it all off only when I went into the greenhouse one day and saw that the leaves were hanging, and the fruit on the fruit was frost-free. I collected four buckets, even a small thing. She laid them in the unheated half of the house, and when it became very cold, she brought them into the warmth, put them under the bed in a row on the paper. I thought that tomatoes would deteriorate, but they sang normally. Even the smallest did not wither and blush. The last fruits we ate on New Year's Eve! And since the tomatoes that grew in the open ground, the fruit has already removed, when the temperature began to drop to 3-5 ° heat.
And which dahlias waved - each flower with a snack plate! Bloomed to frost. So this year I will again be friends with microfertilizer, I will not forget about mulching, otherwise these microbes do not work without it.
With this solution I water and a bed for cucumbers, where I pre-lay straw and chicken droppings. They accelerate the processing of all this organic matter in the soil, and it turns into a nutrient fertilizer just at the time when the cucumbers will begin to blossom. Without them, the garden will be ready only by the end of summer, when the cucumbers are already gone and the harvest is not very happy.
On the advice of the comments, my kitchen garden is now full of marigolds. As a result, cabbage is clean, carrots without flies, and the beauty around is indescribable. I wish all the readers successful experiments and I advise you never to hang your nose in case of failure, because everything is in our hands.

In our area, in order to save space, many plant tall tomato varieties of two plants per well.
I form such plants in 2 stems. The load on the soil (irrigation and removal of nutrients) increases slightly, and the yield is 1,5-2 times more than when planting one plant in one hole.
Then I tried the double landing on other cultures. The double zucchini turned out by chance - it was cold in spring, the seeds did not germinate, and I hurried to sow one more
seed Then it grew warmer, and in all the wells 2 plants ascended. Each of them bored to their side, they occupied one patch of land in the area, but the harvest was 2 times more than single landings.
I did not like growing pepper with a seal - the plants competed with each other.
With potatoes, on the one hand, it turned out costly - planting material was needed 2 times more, but the yield also increased 2 times (in one hole 5-7 stems were obtained).
