Eco-friendly seedlings of peppers and aubergines - without chemicals
If you intend to abandon the "chemistry" and in the future when growing vegetables, use modern biological plant protection products and agrotechnics natural farming, we suggest using a simple but effective technology cultivation of pepper and eggplant seedlings.
Soil mixture.
One month before sowing seeds, we lay the sod land harvested in autumn into shallow trays, warm it up and spill it with hot steep manganese solution (1 g per 1 L of water). On the basis of the turf ground, we prepare the soil mixture for the seedlings: on the 10-liter bucket we take 3 l of river washed sand and 0.5 liter can of wood ash.
Then, add the azotofit-T biological product to the soil mixture (1 g per 1 kg of soil mixture) and mix everything thoroughly. We have seedlings containers made of dense black plastic measuring 8 × 8 cm. After washing containers with manganese solution, we dry them and fill them with soil mixture for 1/2 volume.
Preparation of seeds.
Seeds in gauze bags are soaked in a solution of manganese (0,1 g per 1 L of water) for 30 ~ 40 min (this is a preventive treatment for infections and diseases). Then rinse them with constant melt water at room temperature and immerse in a solution of the bioactivator Azotophyte-P universal (10 ml per 1 L of water) for 2-3 h to accelerate the germination of the seeds. Having wrung out water and slightly dried seeds, we start to sow.
Seeding for seedlings
Seeds of pepper and eggplant are sown in the middle of February, being guided by the phase of the growing Moon. In a container with a moist soil mix, spread out over 3-5 seeds, sprinkle with dry soil mixture (layer 1 2 cm), compact. wrapped in a film, warmed with a cloth and put in a warm room (air temperature 25-28 ° C). Once a day, air the containers for 5-10 min and again cover.
Temperature regime. After 5-7 days, the containers with the first sprouts appeared are transferred to a well-lit place and we maintain the optimal temperature regime: during the day 20-22 ° С. at night 16-17 ° С. Seedlings must be duly illuminated with special lamps with 15: 00 to 22: 00.
Protection of plants.
A common illness of the planted period - blackleg can put many seedlings for 1 -2 days. To protect the fragile plants from the black leg, sprinkle the soil around the plants with wood ash and shed warm melt water. The main thing is not to overmoist the soil mixture and often to air the seedlings!
Top dressing.
We grow seedlings of pepper and eggplant without picking. In the phase of two true leaves, we leave in each cell of the container two of the strongest plants. In the phase of four true leaves, we fertilize with a bioglobin solution (plant growth biostimulator) - 10 drops per 1 liter of water at room temperature. In addition, we carry out preventive spraying from pests (thrips, cicadas) - actofit bioinsecticide solution (8 ml per 1 liter of water).
Landing in the ground. Strong and pre-seasoned seedlings are planted in the soil at the age of 50-60 days. To prevent vertex rot during planting, we must place in each well 1 a dessert spoon of calcium nitrate.

To seedlings of eggplants grew strong and healthy, I clearly adhere to my own planting instructions.
1. Seeds are sown in the third decade of March, so that, depending on the weather, by mid-end of May, the seedlings were ready for planting in the soil. First hold them 20-30 minutes in a pink solution of potassium permanganate, rinse under running water. Then I plant a complex mineral fertilizer according to the instructions, wet the gauze in the solution, wrap the seeds and keep them warm for two days. So that the fabric does not dry out, I periodically sprinkle it with a nutritious composition.
2. Eggplants do not tolerate pickings. Even a minimal damage to the roots can ruin a fragile plant. Therefore sprouted seeds immediately sow one by one into cups with a volume of 400 ml. I fill the tanks with purchased soil for solanaceous cultures, abundantly watered with warm water. Seeds are laid in the holes at a depth of 0,5 cm, sprinkled with soil and covered with food film or glass. As soon as the seedlings appear, I remove the shelter and expose the cups with the seedlings on the windowsill.
3. On cloudy days, I lighten plants with fluorescent lights in 15-16 hours. In good weather, I turn on the lights at 2-3 hours in the morning and in the evening. I pour with standing water at room temperature.
4. On 10-12-th day after the emergence of seedlings I feed seedlings with a solution of Biohumus (according to the instructions). I repeat through 2-2,5 weeks.
5. Two weeks before landing in the ground I begin to temper the seedlings. On the first day I plant the plants on a loggia with open windows for 2-3 hours. Gradually increase the time of "walk", so that in a week it was already possible to leave eggplants in the cool for the night.
As a result, I manage to grow healthy seedlings with dark green leaves and sturdy stems. It excels at transplantation, grows rapidly, and eggplants are pleased with a rich harvest.
