The best varieties of berry bushes
Once again I am convinced: when a person does his favorite business, he not only gets pleasure from it himself and accumulates a good mood, but also shares it with pleasure with other people. Moreover, our experts work in nurseries and garden centers, where they produce all those plants, which we will talk about. And I have no doubt that the spirit of benevolence is still there.
Surely every reader has a garden company, which, with the onset of warm spring days, "feet themselves carry" - to pamper yourself with the purchase of some beautiful flowering or berry bushes.
Now, on the eve of spring, we will gladly offer a similar collection about berry bushes.
Honeysuckle
A magnificent five is headed by honeysuckle. Its share in the production of all berry bushes is about 26%. These data are presented by the Association of Manufacturers of Planting Material (APPM) and are based on the information of their participants, that is, production companies. Saplings of honeysuckle produce in nurseries, which are located in 18 subjects of Russia. Here it is worth considering that all the members of the Association are nurseries from 36 subjects.
Leaders for production of honeysuckle plants are the Chelyabinsk region - 31%, Tula region - 29%, Sverdlovsk region - 15%, Tyumen region - 8%. The primacy of honeysuckle holds not only in production.
This is the first berry, which is already beginning to be collected by the middle of June. On the usefulness of this berry, you can write a separate article. From year to year, honeysuckle is gaining popularity among buyers. And this is what allows kennels and garden centers to actively include it in their range.

EXPERT'S COMMENT:
Here is what the head of Flora Kennel (Vladimir region) Elena Feopentova says:
Our company has been successfully engaged in the cultivation of honeysuckle varieties for more than 7 years.
Honeysuckle is a grateful culture and pays for caring for yourself with excellent harvests of delicious and healthy berries. It is a frost-resistant and unpretentious plant that can grow and bear fruit in one place up to 30 years ".
Elena Feopentova recommends such resistant to diseases, yielding and large-fruited varieties as The Leningrad Giant, and varieties of baqcar breeding: 'Blue Cliff', 'Enthusiasm', 'Silginka'.
The best sort of honeysuckle, in her opinion, is the 'Bakcharsky Giant'.
And this is agreed with Mikhail Molkov, deputy director of Sadko Garden Company (Moscow region). In his list of the best varieties, Mikhail Molkov includes new items of bakchar breeding - varieties with the same name: 'Pride of Bakchar' and 'Bakcharskaya Jubilee'. And complements it with classics - "Morena", "Sinichka", "Nymph" and "Long-fruit".
Currant and raspberry
The second place in popularity among domestic nurseries is divided into currants and raspberries.
The volume of production of seedlings for each of these crops is 24% of the total production of all berry bushes.
What kind of “flowers” of currant you will not meet in the assortment of nurseries and garden companies ...
In fact, there are not so many, to be more precise, only three: black currants, red and golden. But already red, in turn, is divided into shrubs with red berries, white and pink. And black currant - traditionally (for many years) remains the most popular among our gardeners.
The share of production of black currant seedlings accounts for about 64%. Produce it in 20 entities, among which Sverdlovsk region is leading - 24%, Altai Republic - 17%, Republic of Chuvashia - 14%, Moscow and Chelyabinsk regions - by 11%, Tyumen region - 10%.
And the most popular red currant is red berries. But, as they say, there is no dispute about tastes.
EXPERT'S COMMENT
But it is worth listening to professional opinion. Mikhail Molkov from the Sadko nursery recommends to our readers the leaders of recent years among black currants: 'Aar Smolyaninova' and 'Litvinovskaya'. At the same time, the expert notes that there is a fashion even in the demand for berry products, and adds: “But still, the buyers are 'Lazybones', 'Summer Resident', 'Slastena' and 'Exotica'.”
Expert Comments
Anna Mikheykina, managing the Green Garden Garden Center (Moscow Region), shares her opinion: “The main criteria for choosing a raspberry variety are large-fruited, winter hardiness, disease resistance, ease of harvesting and simple agricultural technology. We recommend that you pay attention to several varieties that are optimal for personal consumption. Grade 'Giant Moscow' has no thorns, but has a record fruit mass of 25 grams.
The old kind raspberry, familiar to us from childhood. Who was not treated with milk with raspberry jam? A jar of raspberry jam is "our everything".
According to the statistics of the Association, of the 18 subjects in which nurseries produce raspberry seedlings, the most are in the Tula region - 44%, Sverdlovsk region - 16%, the Republic of Chuvashia - 9%, Moscow region - 8%, Tyumen region and the Republic of Altai - by 6%. But of course, you can buy it almost everywhere - however, like any of the fruit and berry crops. Here, as they say, you need to know the place. In this sense, the purchase of berry is always accompanied by risks associated with the state of the root system of seedlings, re-sorting.
Many garden centers that value their reputation and take care of customers, work directly with nurseries specializing in the production of planting material for fruit and berry crops, and whose products have already proven themselves on the best side, for example, with the Sadko Garden Company located in the Moscow Region and "Kennel Nikitenko", Garden nursery "Kutepovo" and "Experimental-breeding nursery" from the Tula region.
In turn, the variety 'Terenty', which is also without thorns, is resistant to viruses, does not form shoots and has high palatability. Variety 'Rhinoceros' is distinguished by outstanding frost resistance, up to -40 C. And the daughter of Hercules, a repairing variety, is characterized by the fact that the ratio of the volumes of summer and autumn crops is regulated by various methods of pruning. Variety 'Izobilnaya Kazakova' has fruit branches with four branching orders. This is a very generous variety in terms of yield, plus the absence of thorns. ”
And again we return to the question of fashion trends.
Mikhail Molkov has already warned here: “Do not chase after a marvelous raspberry tree - the 'Tarusa' variety, because its thick shoots are very difficult to bend for the winter!” Raspberry 'Tarusa' is a standard grade, which determines the difficulties in caring for it.
Gooseberries and sea-buckthorn
Closure of our magnificent top five most popular in the production of Russian nurseries berry bushes gooseberry and sea buckthorn. Their production shares were distributed as follows: gooseberry - 8%, sea buckthorn - 5%. Compared with gooseberry, which is produced in nurseries from 20 Russian subjects, sea buckthorn in the production range is included less often.
Of all the five named berry crops, the number of subjects producing sea-buckthorn is the smallest - only 14, although it does not lose popularity from it.
Most of the production of sea-buckthorn seedlings is concentrated in the Republic of Altai (35%), Sverdlovsk region (25%), Tyumen region (14%) and Moscow region (10%).
Among the recommended varieties of sea-buckthorn, there are such varieties as Jemovaya, Elizaveta, Inya, Tenga and, of course, Essel (perhaps, the best variety to taste).
EXPERT'S COMMENT
In conclusion of our recommendations, Mikhail Molkov (Garden Company "Sadko") shares his impressions about the varieties of gooseberries: "By harvesting gooseberries in the garden of my mother from the strewn bushes last summer 'Kolobok', 'Krasnoslavyansky' and 'Russian', I was surprised why for many years there has been a stubborn and greatly inflated demand for yellow varieties - 'English yellow', 'Amber', 'Spring'. Unquestionably, they are delicious, but still less productive. "
All varieties are recommended with love and care for readers and your gardens. All this is produced and sold in our domestic nurseries.
For the sake of convenience, we select the listed varieties in a separate list. Armed with it - and with the onset of the long-awaited spring, welcome to our nurseries and garden centers!

IMPORTANT BREAKS
Arrangement of almost any country plot does not do without fruit and berry bushes and trees. Even in the garden with a beautiful landscape design, there must be a place for useful and tasty plants. The choice of different crops and their different varieties will allow to collect an excellent crop almost all summer.
It is important to immediately ensure proper attention to the selection of a place for these plants, properly prepare the soil, enrich it with all the necessary macro- and microelements, and for some time it will be possible to forget even about leaving, but only to enjoy the excellent taste.
SIMPLE SECRETS
Many novice gardeners think that there are no “jungle” of weeds for berry bushes - they are not afraid of weedy vegetation. But such a judgment is erroneous. In fact, the weeds are quite depressing shrubs. In this regard, it is advisable to carefully clear the future plantation from all "competitors" in advance, and even better, prepare for planting shrubs thoroughly and grow cabbage or zucchini in the planned area for several years before planting.

Honeysuckle ripens even before strawberries, but for this you need to plant early ripening varieties. The former owners of the summer cottage told us that they had planted three such varieties, my husband and I bought two more to make the plants pollinated well, and the sweet berries were enough for the whole family.
The former landlady of the site very much praised the honeysuckle variety Long-fruiting, and it was for that! In that year the spring was early, the first berries I tore 10 June, by the middle of the month the rest ripened. The fruits of this variety are large, almost 3 cm in length, the pulp is sweet with a slight sourness, not bitter. The bush is not high, so it takes up little space, and it is convenient to look after it.
The same miniature was and honeysuckle Nizhny Novgorod early. The adult bush of this variety is not higher than 1 m, it has a thick round crown, and the berries are very sweet.
Sibiryachka variety, like the previous ones, is winter-hardy. It blooms in late April - early May, and by mid-July aromatic fruits ripen on it.
To these varieties of honeysuckle, the husband planted on the seedlings of varieties Caramel and Delight. They completely justified their name, last year they gave the first harvest, and we really liked the taste of fruits.
