I do not know how in other parts of the world, and we have few people who decide to grow eggplants, justifying themselves that either these delicacies do not grow here, or they will eat their cola-rads anyway. It's better to spend time and energy on the usual "feeding" cultures than to play roulette. I also long believed so, until I saw in the store packaging seeds with charming pictures, which were adorned with snow-white and blue eggplant. And so I liked these photos, that I decided: I'll break into a cake, but I can grow such handsome men.
Well, I took up all my ardor for work. It turned out that growing eggplants is actually much easier than I thought. And they were not such capricious! Now, more or less making friends with them already, I'll try to answer the main question that worries many summer residents: what do they need for a good life, as they say? And I will answer with the words of my grandmother: "Scho za-nato, it's not sensible." In short, everything is good in moderation. And eggplants are just the most obvious example of this simple truth.
For example, the most comfortable temperature for them is up to 30 °. And if above 30 ° or below 20 °, problems with tying fruit will begin. And the soil they love is fertile, friable, neutral and completely incapable of bogging and sour. They do not like the drought, but they do not favor busting with moisture.
Want more examples? You are welcome. The bush, from the belly fed with organic matter (especially introduced into the soil with nitrogen), can grow powerfully, gaining a plush green mass, and will not tie fruit. And if he is hungry, he will drop flowers, so as not to share food with the fruits.
This is the whole eggplant secret - in the search for a middle ground.
The most convenient way of growing is seedlings. Seeds at 20 min. I soak in the pink solution of potassium permanganate (I throw it out), then wrap it in a damp cloth and put it in a warm place (where the temperature is kept within 25-30 °), checking that they do not dry out. As soon as they are turned on, I immediately sow in disposable cups (to the bottom for drainage I fill the husk from the seeds), then not to dive, otherwise the eggplant transplants are not very much liked. Cups put in a box of fruit, the bottom of which is covered with a film, and cover with glass.
As soon as sprouts appear (usually on the third or fifth day), I remove the shelter and move the box to the window sill. I water as the soil dries with warm water, not allowing it to stagnate. By the way, I take the land for seedlings from the garden (we have it sandy), mix it with peat and humus (1: 1: 1) and add a glass of ash and crushed eggshell to the bucket of the resulting mixture.

Before going to the bed, I remove the plants from the glasses together with the lumps of earth and spread them on the film spread on the ground to treat the roots with the drug from the Colorado beetle (I leave a little of the preparation after processing the potatoes).
And I put the planting holes in the garden so: I remove the lid from a half-liter plastic bottle, cut the bottom with scissors, put it down on the ground, press it so that it enters the soil at the depth of the cup (in which the seedlings live), I swing it from side to side, and then stretch out together with the land inside it. The soil is poured side by side, and in the holes I put seedlings together with clods of the earth (without completely injuring the root system), I fall asleep with the excavated soil and watered. Then mulch all the humus, grass or old fall.
The survival rate of seedlings is 100%, and it does not suffer from stress and quickly grows. By the way, this method of planting is quite suitable for peppers.
And do not need any wisdom here! Especially since eggplants are very responsive to fertilizing, watering and loosening (while I do not even have strong bushes stepchina). Harvesting is done as I mature, cutting the fruit with a pruner along with the pedicels.
In general, a little patience and common sense, and eggplants necessarily (you can even not doubt!) Will thank a generous harvest for work and care.
And the surprised neighbors will ask you: “And what is it that you grow so beautiful?” Now, after all, there are eggplant seeds on sale for every taste and color (from black and purple to green or pink in a strip). My favorite - white eggplant of Bebo, which steadily give a generous harvest even in bad weather. In addition, they almost do not have bitterness, so I do not soak them before cooking.

And in gratitude to all readers for their useful advice I want to share a recipe eggplant soup. So, I cut two fruits into cubes, lightly fry in oil, add broth (vegetable or meat), a little bit of salt and cook over low heat.
Then in 100 g of sour cream I add 1 tsp. flour, stir well, pour into the broth and bring it to a boil, and then beat with a blender. I season the soup with yolk, diluted in 1 tbsp. l cold broth. Such a soup has high nutritional value with a minimum of calories - this is exactly what you need for a diet! You can lose weight deliciously!
Actually, I confess, I'm not yet a gardener. Happens at me quite often any jokes-punctures. Once, for example, I decided to extinguish lime for whitewashing in a plastic bucket. Imagine the result? I was in a stupor, like a real blonde, at the sight of the foam coming out and splashing in all directions from the bucket. But I got a visual lesson! I learn from my mistakes.

An experienced neighbor taught me what to do, and, finally, last year I collected a good harvest. The rules are as follows.
In our climate, eggplant should be planted in a greenhouse. At the same time, add to the soil for each sq. m 6 kg of compost and 2 glasses of ash. Seedlings at the time of transplantation should be sufficiently developed - with 6-7 true leaves.

The first bud should be removed, and the side shoots in the axils of the first 9 leaves should be removed. After the formation of 5-6 ovaries pinch the growth point and remove the emerging flowers.
Plentifully fructifying plants should be fixed on a support so that they are not damaged by the weight of the eggplant.
From 6 pm to 8 in the morning it is desirable to cover the plants with dark material. A short day helps to increase the yield and ripen fruit for 2 weeks earlier than expected.
