Reconstruction of the flower garden - rejuvenation of plantings and renewal of the composition

HOW TO UPDATE THE FLOWER - COMPLETE OR PARTIAL ITS RECONSTRUCTION
OUR COLORS WITH TIME LOSE THE BEAUTIFUL EXCELLENCE AND NEED AN INTERMEDIATE. IT IS POSSIBLE TO BE LIMITED TO COSMETIC REPAIR BEFORE THE TIME. BUT, IF THE FLOWERER DETECTS THE SIGNS OF TOTAL DEGRADATION, A CAPITAL RECONSTRUCTION WHICH MAY BE CONNECTED WITH A CHANGE AS CONFIGURATION AND SIZE OF THE FLOWERER, SUCH AS A SPECIES COMPOSITION OF ITS FILLING ...
TIME OF CHANGE IN THE FLOWER
There are two time periods when it is possible to deal with the reconstruction of flower beds: this is the second half of May and August. Transplantation of perennials is usually carried out according to a simple rule:
In the spring, plants are divided and transplanted, which blossom in the second half of the summer;
in August - those that have faded in the spring or early summer.
The best time to rejuvenate the flower beds - Spring, when the force of growth is great and the day arrives, and the plants have a whole summer ahead to settle in a new place.
Technology of flower garden renovation
I must say that the reconstruction of the flower garden is a complicated matter, it is often easier to make a new one and, what to wear around with the old one. After all, pick up the plants, competently divide them, save them before planting, plant them.
Preparation of the flower bed is a separate and important work. In the old place the earth was caked, it must be digged, a fair amount of organic material and peat with sand, which will feed new landings for another ten years. And weeds ?! Here at last you can deal with perennial creeping herbs (wheat grass, sow, horsetail), which did not allow you to live peacefully all the last years.
If you are trying to do everything in a new way, then you must select the species composition of plants in accordance with their environmental requirements for lighting, soil quality, irrigation. For the hygrophilous it will be one condition, for lovers of meager soils - others. For a certain group of perennials, only sunny areas are required, others are able to exist in the penumbra.
It is desirable that the selected plants have the same life cycle, aged in parallel. It is known that for life expectancy among perennial crops there are:
- young plants - plants with a short life cycle;
- long-life, capable of growing on one bridge for a long period.
Perennials are best divided either at rest or at the very beginning of the vegetation, when they begin to just wake up and grow back. However, there is a group of plants that can be divided without any damage even during flowering (small periwinkle, Chilean grail, hellebore, Biberstein fossil, Arabian alpine, vertebra, fizostegia virgin, multicolored, mountain bird bird). From the curtain just a sharp shovel, stuck into the ground vertically, separate the desired fragment and plant it in another place. Often this measure is forced, capable at least a little to tame the aggressive nature of these plants, which, having got into the flower garden, begin to brashly capture all new areas, oppressing neighbors.
Planning and planting of perennials in a flower garden should be made, checking with the garden literature. If this is not envisaged, then in a few years a partial reconstruction will be required, which in itself is a troublesome business.

SHARE, DO NOT SHARE?
For young people, frequent division is a question of the possibility of prolonging their existence.
And perennials, programmed by nature for a long life cycle, do not need frequent transplants. Attentive gardener themselves will show when to start this procedure: flowering will be scarce, the plant will look oppressed, its decorativeness will decrease, and traditional feeding will cease to help.
TEST RANGE
Often, flower beds become a place where new plants are planted haphazardly only because there is a ready "place". However, this way of overexposure turns into chaotic landings; the original plan of the flower garden is lost, it loses the harmony that it tried to create when it was laid.
For new landings should be given a special, preferably not a ceremonial place in the garden, somewhere in the garden or even on the outskirts. There - to create a special "schoolchildren" where you will experience your new acquisitions: to watch how fast they grow, when they blossom and how long they blossom, evaluate their habit, color estimates. It's not a secret that in the pictures many plants look different than in life. And only after passing the "tests", after studying the nature and characteristics they can be determined for permanent residence. On this "testing range" it is possible to equip and special gardening beds where you will duplicate the liked copies. Usually, in order to save, we buy only one plant we need, in the hope of later reproducing it. However, to create a full flower garden, a considerable amount of planting material is required, and ra (vodka beds will be of great help.
ALL SHARE!
If you use old plants from the flower garden, which is subject to reconstruction, then first they dig out, and then in a certain way divide.
Rhizome perennials (astilba, volzhanka, iris Siberian, phlox, daylily, hosts) are carefully removed from the ground; it is better to use forks. It should be noted that it is difficult to separate the greatly expanded bushies into parts.
Usually for this two pairs of forks are used, they are inserted "back to back" into the rhizome, which begins to slowly loosen and move apart. If the halves are large, they are divided in turn once again in half.
At some point, you may need a sharp knife to finally cut the rhizome. Fragile rhizomes (for example, daylilies) need to be held in the shade for a while, so that they may be a little podgy, and then start taking surgical procedures.
FOR THE NOTICE
Solid lignified rootstocks of astilbe or aruncus are divided oh as uneasy, for their division, even a saw may be required! It is best to divide them into equal 2 or 4 parts in such a way that each has the same number of kidneys. Subsequently, such little pieces, planted in a mixbreader or along tracks, will give equivalent shrubs.
In the process of division rotten and old parts of the plant are thrown out, preference is given to young areas located on the periphery. Slicers are treated with crushed coal or ash; roots before planting can be powdered with "Kornevin".
Perennials with horizontal underground creeping rhizomes (Japanese anemone, mountain knapweed, lily of the valley, yarrow, dwarf monarch, stachis woolly, rudbeckia dissected) it is enough to cut it into pieces with a sharp shovel so that 3-5 kidneys remain on each.
BE CAREFUL! In the roots of these perennial plants they adore settling grass and sow. When planting In the flower garden, they can be brought in and with the roots of phlox, from where they are very difficult to extract. Usually this plant is planted directly with a clod of earth, which, on the one hand, facilitates transplantation, but on the other - increases the risk of "infecting" new plantings with weeds.
Plants with aboveground rhizomes (thick-leafed bean, iris bearded) are easily cut into pieces with a sharp knife. To divide them and transplant it is necessary right after flowering.
ON A NOTE:
It is better to divide the procedure in the shadow of buildings or trees. In the sun and in the wind, plant roots quickly dry out, which adversely affects their survival. In the event that the landing is postponed for some reason, transfer the pieces to the shade and cover the roots with a wet burlap.
In this condition, they can be stored for no more than 3 days. If during this time the place of planting has not yet been prepared, the plants must be dug in the garden, equipping them with tags indicating the color. Determining the remaining parameters for an experienced gardener is not difficult, you can always easily distinguish astilbe from phlox, and daylily from delphinium.
Stem perennial perennials do not tolerate transplantation. Neither the eastern poppy, nor the mullein, nor the aquilegia, or hyisophila can be planted practically under any conditions. Do not even try, destroy the plant. All perennials with a root root, multiply by seeds.

LANDING VARIANTS
If you use the planting material obtained from dividing your own perennials dug from an old flower garden, then there are two ways of placing them in an updated flower garden.
Plant them with a group. This will immediately achieve the desired decorative effect. This technique works well in phlox, helenium, nivian, bell, Tradescantia, yarrow, monard. In this case, do not wait for the thin blade of grass to gain strength.
After a certain interval. This ensures the integrity of the composition and can be used in the capital reconstruction of the flower garden, when certain plant species are planted according to the planned plan. For this, Siberian irises are suitable, giving a vertical in the flower garden; daylilies, geraniums, nivian, astilbe, cuff, and the same phlox.
To share is half the battle. It is necessary to provide the necessary conditions for survival chicken. After planting, they should be watered regularly. Do not overdo it: weak roots are not yet able to drink a lot of water, they can corrupt. In a week after planting, it will be superfluous to water the solution of "Kornevin" (1 sachet for 5 l of water).
The first year or two your new flower garden will have a miserable appearance; must pass the time until the plants gain strength.
Planting perennials should be supplemented by bulbous, which decorate the mixboard or flower bed in the spring. Since autumn, in the intervals between perennials, crocuses, Scylla and muskariki, species tulips, Hionodoxes, irises are usually planted in "nests" (not in the "line").
In early spring, plantings are supplemented with primroses, daisies and pansies, Arabis, and annuals.
In the spring they put and annual asters, which will bloom from the second half of summer.
