Marigolds from diseases and pests - the use of infusions and other ways to protect plants

FLOWERS OF BARHATSY - APPLICATION FROM DISEASES AND PESTS
I decorate my dacha with marigolds. The more of them, the better, but it's not just a pretty appearance: I pursue a mercenary goal - I use them as a natural insecticide (and not only), saving on buying expensive chemistry.
Expressed a specific aroma exude not only the inflorescence, but also the entire aboveground part of the marigold. And the charm of the marigold fragrance is that, attracting bees and bumblebees, it does not like many garden and garden pests. Therefore, in my area tagetes grows in the flower garden, and in vegetable beds.
Digging potatoes, pulled out with roots and marigolds; I lay them out here in the aisles, and then I rub with a shovel, I fall asleep with soil and in this form I leave the bed for the winter.
This technique helps protect the next season’s potatoes from wireworms and larvae of the May chrysanthemum (I don’t manage to change the potato area every year - only once every 3-4 years), cleans the soil of pathogens of fungal infections and prevents the nematode from reproducing - that's why from year to year I manages to get a generous crop of quality tubers. and in near-trunk circles of shrubs and trees - and indeed in any free corner of the garden. The abundant flowering of this crop annually allows you to stock up with a sufficient number of seeds (in addition, it multiplies well by self-sowing - sometimes I even have to thin out its numerous seedlings or remove them like weeds).
FOR THE NOTICE
Bribes and varietal diversity: planting varieties with different periods of flowering, different sizes and colors of inflorescences, with the help of marigolds alone you will transform the country plot beyond recognition.
BARHATS FROM PENALTIES
I have long refused to joint planting of onions and carrots. This measure really protects vegetables from onion and carrot flies, respectively, but adds to me problems when bulbs ripen: at this time the onion should be stopped to water, and the carrot continues to require a lot of moisture. Now I plant onions and carrots on separate beds, but "sandwich" the planting with rows of undersized marigolds - they cope with the task in hand even better and reliably protect plants from these pests.
Perfectly neighbor with the marigolds are all kinds of cabbage: such a fragrant and spectacular garden garden is not at risk of flying (and laying eggs there) butterflies of scoops and whitecaps, the caterpillars of which cause great damage to the crop.
Now surrounded by marigolds, crucifers also grow in me - daikon, radish, radish, turnips and even horseradish, which strikes with its viability, but has one weakness - it is very fond of cruciferous flea; I used to have a lot of time to struggle with it.
Not less benefit is brought to the potato summer. In spring, I plant potatoes and tagetes in turn - two rows of tubers, a row of flowers. So I significantly reduced the number of Colorado beetle - individual, the most persistent beetles I collect manually.
In the planting pits for fruit, in addition to fertilizers, I introduce crushed overground part of fresh or dried flowers - and the root system of young trees does not damage the horsetail.
Every year in the early spring I sow in the aisle strawberry garden miniature varieties of marigolds. Tender strawberry roots are a favorite delicacy of the Khrushchev, now frightened of marigolds; but buds of strawberries, this fragrant culture allows you to protect against the invasion of the weevil: by the time of budding, the marigolds are already growing lush bushes and are beginning to actively fragrant. In addition, now I have stopped to find strawberry bushes, "bitten" by ants (inspired by the victory in strawberry beds, to discourage ants began to plant marigolds in the trunks of each tree and shrub).
THAN LARGER BARHATS, THAN BETTER!
I use them as a natural insecticide
I surround the currant and gooseberry with tall marigolds, and in the autumn mulch the land around them with marigold "bouquets", frozen with frost. As a result, my berry bushes no longer suffer from harmful fire, because of which before berries on them "ripened" before the due date - and quickly rotted, damaged by the larvae of this pest.
Marigold stings also shed holes before planting seedlings in the soil to protect plants from the bear (and another 2 times water the vegetables with this drug at the root at intervals of a week). On my site, a fortune, fortunately, no, but perhaps this advice, peeped by me on one online forum, is useful to readers trying to find a government for a dangerous insect.
In the trunks of young trees in the fall (with the arrival of persistent colds) I spread the flowers, pulled out with a root. In winter, the voles do not risk coming close to such trees for a cannon shot - the gentle bark is protected without contrivance on my part. I protect the bulbous and bulbous flowers from rodents by covering up for the winter from the planting of the marigold grass with a layer of 10 - 15. Seeing once having made such a pleasant discovery, I decided to experiment with using tagetes in the room: before closing the summer season, I spread dry "bouquets" on the floor in the cottage and barn - in the spring of the presence of mice is not found.
FROM ALEXANDER AND CROWNS
To relieve the branches of berry bushes and fruit trees from aphids, I place in the bucket the crushed ground part of the marigold (about 2 kg), fill the container with warm water to the top and insist the contents under the lid 2 days. Then filter, add 2-3 spoons of liquid soap for better
sticking the mixture to the shoots and treating the affected plants from the sprayer. And if the fruit trees are affected by leaf-eating caterpillars, I spend 2-3 processing on the sheet at intervals of 4-5 days.

BARHATSY AS SIDER
Marigolds can act as a siderata. For this purpose, the seeds of the flowers are planted in the early spring on the planned plot, and in the autumn they shred their above-ground part and cover them in the soil during digging.
This method effectively heals the soil, freeing it from nematodes and pathogenic microflora, and is particularly useful in those beds where in the past season, crop plants have suffered from fungal diseases.
Its positive effect is not only rotting in the soil of the tops of the marigolds, but also their root system, which during the growth of plants produces unique compounds. These substances are destructive for parasites and operate within a radius of 0,5 m from the place where the marigold grows.

Did you know that you can get a spicy aromatic spice from marigolds? And besides, it’s also useful, because the plant contains many substances valuable for our body. I would like to prepare salt with the flowers of this wonderful annual.
We wash freshly picked marigold flowers and grind them in a blender with a small amount of salt. I always use marine.
Add more salt to the mixture (the proportions are arbitrary) and a little curry seasoning. It will complement the color, spicy taste and aroma. Grind the ingredients thoroughly with your hands.
Place the salt on a baking sheet and dry it naturally for 2-3 days, stirring occasionally. This spice is ideal for meat, fish, and any other dish.

Everyone knows that marigolds protect plantings from harmful insects. So I decided to plant the seedlings of these flowers together with the tomato in the greenhouse. My tomatoes grew well. There were no pests in the greenhouse, but I did not see a single bee in it, not to mention bumblebees.
I had to pull out all the marigolds and transplant them into open ground. Now I will add phacelia to the tomatoes in the greenhouse.

MARIGOLD
Some varieties have an open bud size up to 12 cm in diameter! And the color can be chosen not only to the classic yellow-orange, but also burgundy or milky. Even modern hybrids are absolutely undemanding to the composition of the soil. Marigolds thrive in elongated spacious containers (powerful root system). Feed the handsome men with complex fertilizer, and they will delight you with bombic flowering. When touched, foliage actively releases phytoncides with clove notes.

Each of us has our favorite flowers. I really like marigolds. How to use them on the site for the benefit of other plants?
#
Although the scent of these flowers (their botanical name is tagetes) is not to everyone's liking, it can still be beneficial. If pests are bred on the plants, then the smell of marigolds will drive them away from this place. That is why tagetes are often sown along the perimeter of the beds.
Another advantage is that the substances they release cleanse the soil, ridding it of fungi and bacteria. When the plants have faded, they can be crushed and added to the soil in the fall after the onset of frost as green manure. And this will significantly improve the composition and condition of the earth.
At the same time, the roots of tagetes can drive away nematodes that cause considerable damage to the plantings of potatoes, strawberries and other crops.
Another plus of these colors, but in the field of traditional medicine. Their water infusions have long been used as a diuretic, antihelminthic and diaphoretic, and flower tea is used for diarrhea and gastrointestinal colic. And inhaling the scent of flowers helps to calm down and relax.

I was indifferent to marigolds, until I accidentally saw Taishan - this is a new series of hybrid upright plants. Compact bushes 25-30 cm high have large double flowers with a diameter of up to 10 cm of amazing colors.
I sow seeds for seedlings in containers with a fertile substrate in early April, filling them with a thin layer of soil to a depth of not more than 1 cm.At a temperature of +20 degrees, seedlings appear on the 7th day. I dive in the phase of two true leaves. I plant it in open ground after the threat of spring frosts disappears (in mid-May). The distance between plants is 15-20 cm. Taishan marigolds bloom in 2-2,5 months from the moment of germination and bloom until frost. They are resistant to adverse weather conditions, easily tolerate transplanting even in flowering form. They look spectacular both in balcony boxes and in pots.

Imereti saffron - the name is not a plant, but a spice: a dark orange powder of honey-bitter taste with a spicy floral aroma. It is prepared from dried and finely ground petals of flowers familiar to all - marigolds. To obtain spices, varieties with terry dark-crushed petals are used. Grow them in a sunny place, then the aroma will be more saturated.
Marigolds should be planted in the garden not only for the edible and healing petals. This is a valuable phytosanitary crop that helps get rid of the nematode and other soil and aerial pests. Its root secretions and the smell of the aerial parts repel parasites. In the fall, slightly shredded marigolds should be planted in a bed, where they will continue to emit odorous substances into the soil, and then they will rot and turn into fertilizer. Finally, the magnificent bushes of flowering marigolds in the garden are simply very beautiful!

I grow marigolds in my country house for two reasons: I create beauty and these lovely flowers help me fight pests and protect my cultures from diseases. Recently, I began to notice that my assistant flowers got sick: the stalk looked like a black leg. Tell me what it is and how to deal with it?

Such a disease is most common among marigolds. First, in the lower parts of the stems, light spots form, and then gradually darkening spots. They begin to rot. Such damage leads to wilting, and subsequently to the death of the plant.
In order to prevent this attack, it is necessary to pickle the soil and the plants themselves with fungicides. For prevention, young plants can be watered with a weak solution of potassium permanganate, but infrequently. If you notice that marigolds are still affected, you must immediately remove all affected flowers. Watering the plant is possible only when the topsoil is noticeably dry.

When planting strawberries in August or September, add a handful of marigold flowers to the hole along with a seed cup - this is where the mass of biologically active substances that will be useful to young plants for their growth and formation of an excellent crop next year is contained.
You can do it differently - take several plants of marigold, chop them and add to the ground when digging for planting garden strawberries. This will improve the soil and protect the berry from being infected by a nematode.

Last season, I landed marigolds on a tomato bed.
The flowers have grown and perfectly shaded the delicate roots of tomatoes. In such conditions, the water after irrigation was stored for a long time in the soil, which saved me time on irrigation, the number of which decreased.
In addition, the flowers did not allow the weeds to appear around the tomatoes, and this saved me from unnecessary loosening and weeding around the bushes. Amazingly beautiful and healthy flowers drove away pests, so they could not damage my tomatoes, and the absence of these carriers of numerous diseases gave another effect: the tomatoes practically did not hurt anything.
Note
Marigolds protect garden strawberries from weevils, phloxes and clematis from nematodes, asters from fusarium.
In general, if you still doubt that the flowers are appropriate in the beds with vegetables and berries, try planting marigolds. I am convinced, then you yourself will advise this to everyone.

I liked even more sympathy for the lovely marigolds when I evaluated their healing properties.
Infusion of inflorescences and leaves, I quickly relieved my infant from potnichki. To do this, finely chopped fresh leaves and inflorescences, emptied 2 Art. l in a thermos and poured a glass of boiling water. Infusion kept in a thermos about 2 hours, filtered, cooled, and then with the help of a cotton swab treated painful places on the skin of a child.
Such a tool to this day helps our family get rid of any skin ailments - skin irritations, sunburns, wounds and abrasions. This infusion is very effective for any suppuration. I put a piece of cotton wool or bandage soaked in infusion on the boil, cover it with a band-aid and leave it overnight - after 1-2 procedures, the sore spot is “opened”.
To quickly remove itching and pain in the country after insect bites, it is enough to use fresh leaves of marigold. I rub the leaves in a wooden mortar and rub the sore spot on the skin of myself or the child with moist gruel - after 20-30 minutes there is no trace of discomfort.
