A ton of potatoes from a hundred - my tips and reviews on leaving

150 PILOTS OF POTATOES FROM THE CELL! TO whether it was, then whether it was fiction ...
They say the more you sow, the more you reap. Alas, in fact this statement only leads to sad thoughts, especially if at the same time finances begin to sing romances ... But if you draw the right conclusions, you can not worry about your bins (and the thickness of the wallet, respectively).
I want to tell my potato story about how I got tons of harvests per tonne from the hundredth in the dashing 90, and now I myself do not believe in it. It sounds, of course, comical, but it's really so. It all began with the fact that my husband and I got six hundred square meters in gardening and immediately rolled up our sleeves and began to work.
How long, how short, but they cleared the land, built a house, and next to it they broke a garden. Since we developed every centimeter (the time was so “fun” that we supplied ourselves with vegetables, I don’t know how we would survive then without a garden), we dug up a separate hundredth for potatoes - outside the site. Therefore, it was then necessary to grow it every year in the same place.
The first couple of seasons I experienced because of this, and then learned about the siderates and thought: if they improve and heal the soil, then, perhaps, can serve as a replacement crop rotation?
And it turned out that this is indeed so! After digging up the potatoes and removing all the plant residues, I planted the entire plot with rye, and the land in this form went into winter. In the spring, by the time of planting potatoes, rye grew to 60-70 cm.
Now all are in a hurry to mow it as early as possible or to cut down a flat-cutter on the roots, and I acted as follows. I pulled the stems together with the roots and piled on the edge of the plot. Then she dug up a strip 70 cm wide and on it pulled a rope, along which she poured a groove deep into the spade bayonet.
It was folding all the previously torn green mass, sprinkled with ashes and mineral fertilizers (they were taken quite a bit), gently laid out the tubers on top. Then she moved the pegs to 70 cm to the side, again ripped the rye, prepared the ground, pulled the rope and dug the next groove, and the soil that had been taken from it fell asleep the previous one. Well, and so on until the end of the plot.
As soon as the potatoes began to sprout, I loosened the aisles with a rake, knocking down annual weeds, and a little later they spud. And that’s all! Before harvesting, she did nothing else — she didn’t water, she didn’t polish, she didn’t mulch. Neglected? Well no. There was simply no need for this, because, as a result of all my troubles, the potato was sheltered and provided with refreshments, and did not suffer from thirst. And grew, respectively, very good. The bushes were so powerful that it was even impossible to go between the rows! I just approached the field and admired it.
In early September, they began to dig with my husband. Collected on 130-150 buckets (with a slide) of selected tubers. Neighbors were jealous, but they were afraid to plant rye, because they were frightened by the process of treatment
with her. And I still think that it's easy on a small site. The result is worth it! Especially since over the summer all the greens have been blocking, the earth has become loose, and with every passing year it has become easier and easier to process it.
So what's the problem, you ask, why did the crops fall? And the fact is that we bought a new large plot, the area under potatoes increased significantly, and we were forced to use a tractor for plowing and slicing furrows for planting. So it turns out that the machine seems to be doing half the work for us, and the yields are far from the same, although it's also a sin to complain about them.
I firmly decided: next year I will switch to the old technology and cut the planting area by half.

Note: On potatoes and natural farming
I consider all fears that wet weather may damage the planting of potatoes and its further normal growth, exaggerated. Of course, if there are tropical downpours from morning to night, then other cultures will choke and rot, but we still do not live in the jungle. My husband and I didn’t get hung up on wet weather: it rains — we still plant tubers. And now what is all the work to stop and wait for the weather by the sea, which, perhaps, will only be established in July?
But when the heat is in the yard, this is already a real problem. Believe it or not, but in our lands 10 has been drought for years! The upper layer of the soil turned to dust, and potato yields fell sharply.
But one day we dig deeper than 20 cm and found a beautiful fat humus with grains. I suggested to my husband to overhaul the garden with a tractor in order to raise this soil to the surface. Flies it, of course, a pretty penny, but the land will again be good. How long? And we'll see.
But, I read about natural farming, and in the spring we did not call the tractor driver, but we split the site into high ridges, the tubers began to be planted deeper than before, and we again had a good harvest of potatoes.
And what kind of smart people came up with such a technique ?! It is convenient to spud, it is convenient to weave, it is convenient to dig, and it is more pleasant to harvest the crop. But the most important thing - working with the land has now become a real pleasure! I’m not digging it now, but loosening it with the help of a pitchfork, in which the teeth are bent at a right angle. Well, of course, in the autumn I plant mustard on the beds (of all the siderats I liked it most of all), which goes away in the winter. But actually, it was only thanks to Mother Earth that I was able to survive the death of my spouse ...
