COMPOSE WITH ACCELERATION AND OTHER COTTAGE ADVICE
Any professional agronomist will tell you that compost is a long business. But we, summer residents, do not have time to wait, so we will try to slightly correct science as far as possible. Compost from this - believe me! - it won’t get any worse.
COMPOSITE WITHOUT COSTS
With pleasure we read our beloved magazine with my husband - first in one gulp, then with feeling, sense, arrangement. We learned a lot of things and also want to share our experience: tell us how we get compost in just one summer season.
The husband put together a box without a bottom (2 × 0,8 × 0,8 m). In the fall, we collect all plant residues and kitchen waste into it, and the neighbors give away what they clean from the plots. If the box does not fill up completely, we go into the forest for leaf litter. Then all this is chopped with a sharp shovel and compacted well, and at the very end of the season, a little manure and a little land are laid on top. In spring, as soon as the weather permits, I plant cucumbers here (I prefer seedlings), and they grow here all summer.

It can be seen in photo 1 that the ends are equipped with glass frames, and on the top there are strips for tying cucumbers and covering with covering material in case of cooling. As soon as the cucumbers fertilize, we free the box from humus. It is dark brown in color, crumbly, and we no longer need any manure, which costs 2500 rubles per car.
We have four such boxes - of different sizes. We fill one with weeds, kitchen waste, etc. during the summer, the other three are active. Watermelons grow very well in such drawers (photo 2), and in the fall we choose an excellent compost from them!
We do not put the brushes in the boxes, since they need more time for decay. We send them to the fire: ash is also needed, and then the potato grows perfectly on the place of the fire, the asters are not affected by anything.
I repeat: in the photo 1 you can see how the box is arranged for cucumbers: on the sides is protection from the wind, and from above, when it's still cold, we cover the seedlings with cucumber seedlings under the arcs. And when we tie them up, at the very top always there is a covering material.
On the advice of planting peas: I make a big garden, and when he grows up somewhere up to 10-15 cm, I put pegs around the perimeter of the bed and tie a string. Peas are like a brush, a lot does not take place, and you can collect, sitting on a chair (photo 3).
From spring, as soon as it starts growing, we encase it with sawdust - the berries are clean, they are not damaged by slugs (photo 4). Last year, too, I sprinkled cabbage with sawdust - there were no slugs, although it rained endlessly in the summer.
RANDOM SESSION
Also, on the advice of you I plant garlic. In the beginning and the middle of October I make holes with a flat-cutter, plant lobules or one-piece garlic, cover them with earth, so that the bed is even, then the newspaper in one layer on the whole surface of the bed and I fill them with a thick layer of sawdust. So the garden goes into winter.
In the spring I pour the urea with garlic (1 tbsp. In a bucket of water) - from a watering can, a little, quickly passing along the garden. I do not feed anything else, but garlic grows without weeds, does not take time for weeding, and grows very large.
I also grow onions Exibishen, a very delicious salad grade. It is easy to grow it from seedlings and to look after it is not at all difficult, but salads with it are of tremendous taste! I advise everyone: grow Exibishen, you will not regret it.
I would also like to write how I prepare the land for seedlings (the seedling season has passed, but the information will come in handy in the next). Without fail I buy coconut briquettes, vermiculite, peat. In ordinary soil without any proportions, I add sand, vermiculite, peat, coconut briquettes soaked according to the instructions and a little ash. I mix everything well - the earth should crumble in my hands. On the loggia or in the garage you can freeze it.
When planting seeds, I must water the soil mixture with a solution of a root-formation stimulant and a drug that protects against bacterial and fungal diseases, and I never have a black leg.
I’ll also tell you how in one of the boxes an excellent tomato seedlings accidentally grew up in us (photo 5). My husband and I made tomato juice, and put the waste in a box. The next year I saw greens there - I thought weeds, because weed was put in boxes. Came up - and there is a strong, healthy seedlings of tomatoes! My surprise knew no bounds. Planted this "unexpected" seedlings and got a wonderful harvest.

A year ago, she forced her husband to knock down a compost box, where he put weeds and part of the cut green manure all season. But the compost is still not ready, rather a bunch looks like a rotten haystack ... Are there any faster ways to prepare this fertilizer?

- I put the compost heap in the autumn, and by spring I get ready fertilizer.
At the bottom of the box, I lay a layer (10-20 cm) of straw, stems or leaves of corn, small branches. I throw 1-2 handfuls of ammonium nitrate. I close with freshly cut grass (about 25 cm). I add a pinch of saltpeter.
I cover all 8-10 with shovels of the garden ground. I pour the vegetable cleaning layer with a thickness of 15-20 cm. I again throw a couple of handfuls of fertilizer. Next, I alternate layers, starting with the grass. When 50 cm remains to the top of the box, I cover the compost with soil (5-7 cm), water all with warm water. If there is dry weather, periodically add warm water, so that the compost does not dry out. Once in 14 days, the heap grabs the contents of the heap. If everything is done right, the first time with the mixing of the fertilizer is steam. When the snow falls, stop worrying about the compost.
