Comparison of foreign onion seeds with domestic - or why onion leaves in arrows

HOW I GROWED THE DUTCH ONION - STURON (AND ALSO RED BARON)
Although they write that we do not dump our failures due to bad weather, on the contrary, we adapted to it, but you cannot guess what it will be in advance. A year ago, I planted 6 seed beds for 3 meters and 1 meters. Our beds are high, standard, 21 stuff, covered with boards.
Passages of 60 cm, all covered with black spanbond, black film, cardboard - very convenient, clean, beautiful. Today I bought 6 varieties of sevka - I'm generally obsessed with onions. In autumn, the beds were harvested, green manure (white mustard) was sown, and plant debris was dug.
Neighbors, acquaintances have repeatedly asked: "And what are these beds of you so green in the late autumn?" People still do not know what siderats are! So I explain to them what they are for.
When the siderats grow up, they’ll already pick up the color, I will turn them with my bayonet blade along with my fellow, like pancakes in a frying pan. I start to process the bed clockwise and carefully go through the entire. The mustard is buried - above the ground, below the food for the worms. In autumn, you just need to add compost - and know plant winter garlic.

In the spring, the beds were covered with ashes and dug forks. I made grooves and sprinkled them with salt from an onion fly.
Sevok processed hot and cold water from the arrows: 1 -2 min. in hot water (60-65 °), and then quickly into cold water on 1 min. Then, already before landing, I held 20 minutes in potassium permanganate.
My husband and I always analyze onions into fractions. Here is the first I planted the smallest - Sturon from Holland: small ones have no flower buds. And in total I had 6 varieties, 5 of them are of domestic various shapes and colors. She planted everyone, but the big Sturon and Red Baron still remained. I gave them to their daughter: enough already, I think, and so planted 8 ridges instead of 6.
When I planted the onion, it was warm, and then bang - and cold. They covered it with spanbond when the sprouts were already more than 5 cm. The cold did not recede for a long time, and then it rained for half a summer. In short, all the beds went in bold arrows, one measured - 1 m 10 cm! This has never happened before. I was horrified: a whole field of arrows! Every day she cleaned them, and they all appeared and appeared.
Hempty "Dutchman"
And here is what I noticed: the small onion from Holland did not have arrows. I called my daughter asking, "Do you have arrows?" Says: “No, not a single one. We have never had such a large onion! Bulbs - almost half a kilo. ” But I gave them a large sevka, but imported one. Our domestic was also the same large, but every day it became soft more and more. They rushed to save him, began to cut onions into cellophane bags in two pieces and placed in a freezer.
I sign all cultures and stick the name with scotch tape: it is very convenient to watch when everything freezes. Date and year set necessarily: if something remains from last year, then it is immediately clear that you need to use first. We have two freezers, and we have previously tried to freeze onions. It is no different after heat treatment from fresh.
So we cut together with my husband for several days. They distributed a part to the children, and threw away several buckets. From the arrows, no processing helped, although earlier everything worked. All the beds are high, right in the sun, what else do you need?
In general, I was offended by the bow and I planned the whole 3 garden for it next year. Planted two times more winter garlic. And Sturon, the smallest onion from Holland, remained fresh with us, cm 5 in diameter, which I hadn’t even considered for a bow before, but that domestic one, which is from 10 cm in diameter and above, and there is no mention
Here I am sitting, writing, and the “Dutchman” next to me seems to be mocking me and saying: “I alone survived. Well, did you go for a big sevy? ”
I got it. But what is the reason? The onion planting dates were observed, I always plant early. Of course, the weather cannot be discounted, but I still think that foreign breeders strictly comply with the storage conditions for sevka for export, and our domestic ones do not.
It's a pity. I do not want it to be so. Again I will have to buy sevok from abroad, and I am a patriot, I want us to have at least as good as theirs, even better!
Health, happiness and patience to all!

When the ground in the greenhouse warms to a depth of 10 cm, I put the soil in a bucket of humus on 1 square meters, loosen everything with a hoe, form a groove in which I plant sprouted bulbs so tightly that they touch each other's sides. Pour dry humus or peat. In just a couple of weeks, I cut off the first feathers for salad.
