It is not true that eggplant is a moody culture. To achieve success in their cultivation is very simple: you only need to systematize knowledge and put them on the shelves. And then clearly follow the established order once and for all (of course, adjusted for unpredictable weather).
Of course, I don’t have a dacha, but a vegetable garden near a private house is only one and a half hundred square meters. But I have enough of it, I also share the harvest. Reading articles for four or five hours in a row, I don’t notice how time flies by: it attracts very much to itself! Maybe because mainly (as I see from the letters) the elderly write, which is especially important for singles. I am writing the second letter already; our mail is far away for an elderly person. But in the summer I use a bicycle, it is for me and the transport, and the porter, and the guide, without it the back (spine) does not go far. So, to the point.
PURPLE MIRACLE
I already wrote in the first letter that I have been using the book “The Encyclopedia of the Gardener” for a long time, I want the gardeners to try out the method of growing eggplants from this book. As for me, I have been using this method for a long time, I assure you that you will not regret it. I prefer the grade Purple Miracle F1.
Sow the day before - reap the week before. And this is about eggplant. It must be well understood that the fate of the crop of this crop is largely dependent on the age of the seedlings. Famous vegetable grower B.G. Rusakov claims that the eggplant crop from seedlings of 70 and 80 days of age will be almost the same, but the 60-day seedlings yield a yield of 50-55% less!

PREPARE SEEDS BACLAUGH TO SEED
I will not describe the process, it is the same for all nightshade - for eggplant, peppers and tomatoes. After 20 minutes of dressing in a solution of manganese (1 g per 100 ml of water), the seeds should be washed and placed in pure aloe juice for a day. Prepare the juice correctly like this: put aloe leaves in a dark glass jar and refrigerate (on the top shelf) for 5-6 days, then squeeze the juice and soak the seeds. After such seed treatment, the plants quickly develop, do not get sick, give larger fruits, and yield much higher. I personally have 9-10 roots for two families for harvesting, and we do a lot of them for summer dishes.
If there is no aloe, then you can take the wood ash: it contains more than 30 elements necessary for plants to feed, including a large number of trace elements.
Cook like this: 1 Art. l Dissolve ash in 0,5 l of warm water and leave for a day, stirring occasionally. Then the 2 / 3 cans (top layer, no ash!) Drain and soak the seeds in this liquid for 3-4 h.
Preparation of soil mixture.
The best for the nightshade will be this: turfy ground or compost, humus and clean, washed (and even better roasted) sand (1: 2: 1). On a bucket of this mixture, you need to add two glasses of ash and 60 g of superphosphate.
SUPPORTING EAGLE PLANT
Eggplant does not respond well to transplantation, so it is better to sow 2-3 seeds in half-liter containers. Then we fill them with clean sand with a layer of 0,5 cm, cover the boxes with polyethylene or put in bags and until the shoots appear we maintain the temperature of 25-28 °. Every day for 10 minutes. remove the film so that the earth does not mold. As soon as the shoots appear, put in the brightest place. We highlight that the longitude of daylight would be 10 hours. It is advisable to feed seedlings in pots during the growth period with ash - 1 tsp each. 2-3 plants, only carefully so that the ash does not fall on the leaves.
If eggplants create an 10 hourly day, they develop much faster, and for the 12-14 hourly day they give an unprecedented harvest! We must remember that eggplant is especially sensitive to a short day in the period from the 10-day age to the beginning of flowering, i.e. the whole seedling period.
ABOUT GROWING TEMPERATURE
Personally, in the summer of 2017 of the year (and it was cold and rainy), at night I would cover the black covering material in arcs until 9-10 am. I concluded: now I will always do that.
I keep eggplants all summer under a spanbond (60 g / sq. M) - shelter from the cold, and from the heat, and from the beetle.
When growing seedlings, it is important to maintain the first 5-6 days for daytime temperatures 16-18 ° and the nighttime 12-14 °. Further, if the weather is sunny, then 22-28 °, and if it is cloudy, then 18-20 °.
When planting seedlings do not bury and plants do not spud. By the way, peppers, as well as eggplants, like a short day, land, not buried, and do not pile up.
Mulch first nettle and burdock, then grafted with grass. Eggplants should be fed in the seedling stage and watered through 5-6 days, alternating between feeding and watering, wetting the entire pot capacity. You can feed the egg shell extract: 10 eggshell on 1 liters of hot water, insist 5-6 days.
What to feed the eggplant in the summer?
For the entire summer from 3 to 5 fertilizing with an interval of 10-12 days. During flowering in 10 l of water, put 5-6 kg of nettle, dandelion leaves, plantain, coltsfoot, add a mullein bucket, mix thoroughly, after a week stir and water 1 l on the plant (I pre-water with warm water, only then infusion). The remaining solution after 10 days, add the same 1 l per plant.
Top dressing during the fruiting period: 1 with a bucket of chicken manure and 2 glasses of nitroammofoski, fill with water, cover the container and feed the plants according to 3 l for the root via 5-2 days. After 12 days a new composition: a bucket of a mullein, a half-bucket of bird droppings and a glass of urea should be filled with water; after 3-5 days, pour water on the basis of 5-6 liters per 1 square meter. I recommend feeding in advance (for 2-3 h.) in good watered soil.
When the seedlings grow to 30 cm, I remove the tops, i.e. growth points - this contributes to enhanced branching. On the plant, I leave 4 side shoots and always tie them to the stakes. I water only with warm (25-26 °) water. (Peppers also love water, not just warm, but very warm.)
USEFUL CULINARY EQUIPMENT
Now I will share my recipe for winter salad: whoever does, he will never refuse again!
2 kg of eggplants, 0,5 kg of beans, carrots and sweet red pepper, 1,5 kg of tomatoes, 0,5 l of vegetable oil, 1,5 cup of sugar, 70 g of salt, 100 g of garlic, 0,5 tsp. citric acid or 10 ml of vinegar (9%).
Boil the beans until semi-ready. Pour into the 6-liter pot (I cook in stainless steel) vegetable oil. Bring to a boil, add carrots, grated, and leave to simmer on low heat. Then add diced pepper and beans, also leave to languish.
Dice the eggplants and put them in a saucepan, mince the tomatoes, add to the saucepan, mix, then heat and cook 40 min. from the beginning of the boil. For 10 minutes before the end of cooking, add salt, sugar, garlic, grated on a fine grater, at the very end add citric acid or pour vinegar. Stir and decompose the prepared salad into sterilized jars, immediately roll up with metal lids and cover. Store in a cool place (cellar, refrigerator).
Well, since we are talking about blanks, I will also write about pepper in its own juice. It is advisable to take the fruits of different colors. 3 kg clean sweet pepper, cut into strips. Cover overnight with two glasses of sugar, adding to them 4 tsp. salt. Mix. Juice drain, add 2 tsp. (with slide) citric acid, 1 Art. l vegetable oil and bring to a boil. Toss the pepper in boiling juice with parts and boil 1 minutes, then dispose of the pepper in sterilized jars. The rest of the brine boil 10 min., Pour them peppers in jars and roll up. It turns out 5 jars for 700.
