WHAT IS GORTENIUM PAIN?
A few years ago, I bought a panicle hydrangea, Vanilla Freise, in the garden center. Put her in the country. I was happy with the appearance of the first placer of flowers. Beauty was indescribable! But after some time the shrub began to wither. Flowers began to fade ahead of time, and clots of white “foam” appeared on the leaves. Tell me how to save my hydrangea?
Alina V. PIVNEVA, Kaluga
The overgrown bush of blooming hydrangea is really a real decoration and charm of the garden. Any gardener, even indifferent to this shrubbery, probably admits that the plant deserves to grow in the garden. However, this beauty can be seriously spoiled. numerous diseases that hydrangea has. Consider what ailments in question.
CHRONOSE OF GORTHENSIA
It is dangerous if the shrub began to affect this particular disease. Then its leaves become pale or turn yellow, and the veins on them darken. If you count this discomfort intrigues bad weather, then soon the shrub can lose its appeal. Meanwhile, the listed signs are nothing but a signal of iron deficiency. Hydrangea needs it all the time, therefore maintain the health of the bush by feeding it with fertilizers containing iron elements. This shrub responds well to rainwater irrigation. And poorly tolerated soil that is enriched with lime. He also does not like fertilizing with humus.
If the disease has already attacked the plant, you can use drugs such as "Agricola", "Antikhloroz" and others. They are not only sprayed with hydrangea, but also brought under the root of the plant in very small doses. To combat chlorosis, you can also prepare such a composition: take X potassium nitrate and iron sulphate with 40, dissolve water in 10-15 and water the shrub until the disease disappears.
The following remedy is also effective: Dissolve the 2 g of ferrous sulfate and 4 g of citric acid in a liter of water in 1 l and spray the leaves.

GRAY ROT OF GORNTHIA
This is a real attack for flowering shrubs. The affected stems and flowers become very soft, watery, and then die off. Gray decay also affects the leaves, leaving behind them unattractive holes in the heat, and in wet weather the spots on the leaves are covered with gray "cotton". The disease can affect the hydrangea repeatedly. Regular removal of diseased areas as well as spraying with Scor, Chistotsvet or Fundazol will come to the rescue.
GORNZIA FLOWER CANCER
And such a disease, alas, also affects hydrangea. Brown spots appear on the leaves, under which sores form on the stems. The main thing is to detect the ailment in time, otherwise the plant may dry out.
It’s not easy to cope with cancer, but it’s still possible. It is necessary at the first signs of the disease to remove all affected areas and burn them. But if the cancer also appeared on the roots, the bush cannot be saved - it must be completely burned.
Resistance to the disease increases the security of the shrub with a balanced composition of mineral and organic fertilizers.
DIFFICULTY DRAIN OF GORTNESIA
If the hydrangea leaves are stained with yellow-green color, which eventually became darker and acquired clear contours, know that it is powdery mildew. If you give up on the disease with your hand, soon the leaves on the bush will begin to fall off and it will lose its decorative effect. Appearing on the young shoots, powdery mildew will not allow them to develop and survive the winter. Therefore, noticing powdery mildew, spray the bush "Fitosporinom-M". And if there are not enough healthy branches, then you can use drugs such as Skor and Topaz.
RING SPOT OF GORNTHIA
This disease leads to deformation of the leaves of the plant and is considered the most common viral disease of hydrangea. How does it manifest itself? Initially, on the leaves you can see small lesions in the form of spots with fuzzy contours, then they dry out and deform. The cause of the outbreak of the virus can be poor-quality planting material, insects that carry fungi and viruses, unprocessed garden tools. In case of severe damage, hydrangea may not bloom or its flowering will be very scarce. Alas, but to fight with such a disease is useless, the bush will have to be uprooted and burned.
STEMPED NEMATODE GORTNESIA
This is a cluster of very small worms, which are especially actively developing in a humid environment, affecting the stems, roots and leaves of the plant. Because of them, it does not develop and may die over time. Experts recommend to destroy the plant affected by nematodes, because they can not cope.
WHITE SCLEROTSIAL GORTENIUS ROT
Another fungal disease. If it struck the young stems, the branches will begin to wither and grow brown, but they will also begin to progress to rot, over which a cotton-like patina of white color is formed. From such a hydrangea is also better to immediately get rid of.
Note
This culture is quite demanding to care. There are certain factors to which hydrangea reacts very acutely. Diseases of the leaves are most often provoked by a bright, scorching sun, excess moisture, a lack of nutrients, and a change in the acidity of the soil.
PREVENTION IS FIRST
Since diseases develop under certain weather conditions, the risk of infection in the unstable climate of Belarus and Russia is quite high. Therefore, preventive plant protection measures are extremely necessary: in the fall and early spring the bushes are treated with Bordeaux liquid, planting material is to be treated with blue vitriol, and insecticidal preparations are applied to the soil before planting. The area where the hydrangea grows must be cleaned regularly and the plant residues destroyed. Timely prevention will help protect hydrangea from diseases and pests.
It remains to add that both garden and indoor hydrangeas are ill almost the same, so the measures for combating ailments are the same.
Note
Snails simply adore hydrangeas, especially if the shrub is in a relatively wet and shady place, then this is just a haven for pests. They begin to eat the buds, as well as young plants and leaves. Treat flower is not easy, but possible. You should try to independently destroy the mollusks and their offspring.
ALL THE STRAPS OF A BUSH
I would like to know what is needed for lush flowering paniculate hydrangea?
Anna Yakovlevna KATS, Moscow region, Podolsk
Quite often, growers really complain that for several years the hydrangea has stubbornly refused to bloom. And the reasons for this may be different.
The first. There is too much shade near the bush, besides cutting the branches is wrong.
The second. Damage to the kidneys due to bad weather, hydrangeas with large leaves are very sensitive to it. They have flower buds laid on the very tops of the shoots that were formed last year. Due to the fact that the hydrangea blooms on last year's growth, when sheltering it for the winter, it is very important to keep the shoots completely so that the buds do not freeze during the cold season.
Third. Excessive feeding: if you overdo it with them, then the flowering will have to wait a very long time.
The fourth. Hortense loves scattered sunlight, and feels uncomfortable in the open sun. It can grow even under the spreading crown of a large tree.
Fifth If the soil is not to the liking of hydrangea, it also may not please with its lush flowers. In order for this shrub to bloom intensively and for a long time, it needs loose, slightly acidic soil that is rich in humus. The soil under the plant should be carefully mulled with the bark of coniferous trees or peat.

Tell me why a white bloom can form on hydrangea leaves? How to help the plant?
#
- This is a sign of powdery mildew. As the fungus develops, the mycelium becomes denser and the plaque becomes brown. Affected plants can be severely weakened. More resistant to this disease G. oak-leaved less - large-leaved Hydrangea.
Will help to cope with powdery mildew multiple treatment with drugs (at choice): "Rakurs", "Topaz", "Chistotsvet", "Agrolekar", "Polar-50", "Baxis" (at least 4 repetitions per season, once every 7 days) ...
Powdery fungi prefer to infect slightly withered leaves, the cells of which have lost their turgor. Therefore, regular watering during dry periods increases the resistance of this moisture-loving crop to disease.
Symptoms of some diseases appear quite late, sometimes only in the middle of summer. Therefore, fungicide treatment does not always give quick results. Next year, start preventive treatments in late May and early June — before the first signs of the disease appear.
Prevention
For the normal development of hydrangeas, regular feeding is necessary throughout the season.
Pruning plants periodically to ensure free air circulation and dryness after rains.
Timely removal of affected leaves / inflorescences from the bush, collection of all fallen and their destruction.
Thorough loosening of the soil in the fall (can be combined with the introduction of phosphorus-potassium fertilizers of prolonged action).

At one time, I planted the usual white hydrangea on a site with very sparse soil. And she surprises every summer with lush flowering.
And Vanilla Freyz placed the hydrangea she bought on a site with better soil, and she disappointed - the leaves turn yellow, then she looks like she is sick.
The reason?

Hydrangea is very demanding on the composition of the soil. If it does not fit, the flowers become smaller, the leaves brighten, and the plant looks like it is sick. And the reason is the lack of nutrients.
The first thing to do is to check the acidity of the substrate. To hydrangea felt at ease, acidity in the range of 4,0-6,5 is needed. And if the plant has yellowed leaves, feed it with a special fertilizer for hydrangeas. Moreover, dressing can be carried out on the leaves. You need to do this twice a season.
Powdery mildew, which spreads on young shoots, also sometimes attacks this plant. Special drugs, fungicides, including the biological Fitosporin-M, help fight off the attack. And parts affected by the disease should be removed and burned.
Often on hydrangea you can see insects that feed on its juice. A drug such as Fitoverm copes well with them.
