Recently, we began to grow such a miracle as a rockambol. It is also called garlic onion, and the corresponding taste is onion-garlic, reminds wild garlic.
Planting can be carried out both in autumn and spring, depending on the variety. We plant in March-April. It is important that the bulbs do not grow on the site before. The bed should be sufficiently lit. We pre-fertilize the soil before planting with wood ash and rotted manure. We plant with cloves, like garlic, only make the distance larger: about 15 cm between the cloves and 30 cm between the beds.

We mulch the plot with a layer of needles or sawdust, you can use straw, peat. Throughout the season, we make fertilizing several times: ammonium nitrate, slurry, or wood ash. Rockball must often be watered, as a lack of moisture spoils its taste. If you treat him with care, you can get a softer and more tender taste.
The flower arrow needs to be cut so that it does not draw moisture from the bulb. But after harvesting we leave the leaves uncut for the duration of drying, since here the onion is already picking up juices from the leaves. We store it in the pantry, and until January-February, the rock-ball does not lose its juiciness. You can eat fresh, adding to salads and meat dishes, and you can also harvest for the winter in the marinade.

For the next birthday, my friend brought me a few rock-clove teeth from a business trip. First, the novelty took a modest row in the garden with spring garlic, and then replaced this crop from the garden. Why? Rocambole is not inferior to summer garlic in taste and aroma, it is perfectly stored until April, but most importantly - there are no small irritating cloves. In addition, for five years of cultivation, the rockambole was never sick, and it was not touched by pests.

In late April and early May, I plant two beds of rock-ball. On one - the children collected last season, on the other - onion-toothed bulbs grown from children in the first year of growth. Previously, under a digging, I bring in a bucket of humus, 1 Art. ash and 1 Art. l superphosphate on 1 sq.m. Two weeks after emergence, I feed the plants with mullein solution (1: 10). In early June, I spill with an ash extract (I fill in a liter can of ash with boiling water, insist for a day). In the autumn, I carefully dig out the crop. Children, which are covered with large bulbs, are separated, dried on the floor in the hallway and put into storage in paper bags. I dry bulbs for food, like ordinary garlic, on shelves under a canopy.

How to understand that the rockambole can be removed?
    How to store it properly?

      - Rocambole is also called elephant garlic (because it is much larger than onion and looks more like garlic). The rocketball is ready for harvest when the leaves of the plants turn yellow. If planted in the winter - you can clean up in early August. If in the spring - cleaning can begin only in early September.

If you are late for cleaning, the scales may break, and the bulbs will break up into cloves while still in the ground. In addition, rot can form from overexposure to the bottom. All this seriously reduces the shelf life of elephant garlic. After digging the bulbs, be sure to dry well, cut the tops, leaving a part of the stalk about 5 cm long. Store the rockambol in a dry, well-ventilated room.

Dear gardeners, explain what a rokambol hair bow is?
They gave me this and said that it was garlic: outwardly it is like garlic, but more powerful, and it tastes like onion. Is this the rocambol hairstyle?
