Healthy seedlings - advice from a candidate of agricultural sciences
HOW TO GROW A HEALTHY CROP
All land owners are looking forward to spring to touch the living soil, enjoy the fragrance of greenery, the taste of the first vegetables. Approaching this moment, gardeners from the end of winter begin to grow seedlings. But it is not always possible to achieve the desired result. The plants are pulled out, then they get sick, and sometimes it happens that the seeds do not germinate. Therefore, it is useful to repeat rules for growing healthy seedlings.
The growth and development of seedlings largely depend on how loose and nutritious the soil mix is.
For sowing seeds for seedlings requires a substrate that is not eroded when watering, has the appropriate composition and contains a sufficient number of useful substances. Such a soil mixture can be purchased at a specialty store or prepared by yourself. Variants of soil mixtures for future seedlings:
• turf ground (1 h.), Humus (2 h.);
• peat (2 h.), Humus (2 h.);
• humus (3 h), turf ground (2 4.J.
If you are preparing the soil mixture yourself, it is advisable to disinfect it. For this, it is best to use a complex of active microorganisms. It is necessary to buy drugs that have useful or effective microorganisms in their composition, dilute them in water according to the instructions, and then use the sprayer to moisten the amount of soil you need. So, the resulting substrate is placed in a plastic bag, preferably dark, firmly tied and put in a dark and warm place. Mature such a soil should be two to three weeks. After that, it can be safely used for sowing or transplanting seedlings.
Often the soil is calcined in the oven for disinfection. As a soil scientist, I have a negative attitude to this method, since not only disease causing bacteria, but also beneficial bacteria, die during ignition.

HEALTHY STRONG TOMATO SEEDLING IN 45 DAYS - VIDEO
In recent years, peat tablets have become very popular among gardeners. Many manufacturers treat them with antibacterial drugs, thereby reducing the risk of the onset and development of various fungal diseases.
It is very important to take care of the seeds. Poor quality seed can cause poor seedling. If you have your own planting material, you need to properly prepare it: carefully calibrate, disinfect, treat with plant growth stimulant, temper, germinate, etc. The seeds collected personally have a higher germination rate than purchased ones, the plants from them grow less susceptible to diseases, give the best harvest.
Purchase of seeds should be in specialized stores, paying attention to the shelf life. As a rule, branded seeds are pretreated with various nutrient and fungicidal compositions, therefore, they do not require pre-sowing preparation.
Seeds need to be sown not too deeply and evenly, so that the plants are spacious and easy to germinate. The date of sowing seedlings on seedlings depends on the timing of seed germination and the time of development of a particular type of plant. If you do not meet the deadline, by the time of landing on the garden the seedlings will turn out to be overgrown or weak.
The success of growing seedlings determines the light. If there is not enough light, the seedlings are drawn out, become pale, and the root system is developing poorly. Boxes with seedlings, it is desirable to have on the sunny windowsill. Light day for seedlings should be 12-14 hours. Therefore, on short winter days and in spring, when the day is short, the seedlings need to be additionally illuminated with daylight lamps.
Another important condition for obtaining high-quality seedlings - maintaining an optimal temperature. Vegetable crops are divided into cold-resistant and heat-loving. Accordingly, the seedlings need to be grown in a favorable temperature range for them. The optimum temperature for seed germination will be 22-26 ° C, and after germination - 20 ° C. In order for the seedlings not to stretch, it is recommended that after the first shoots appear, transfer the containers with the seedlings to a cooler place or lower the air temperature. Temperature control for cold-resistant crops - 6-8 ° C, heat-loving crops - 12-14 ° C, for melon crops - 15-18 ° C.
It is very important to observe the correspondence between temperature and light - the higher the temperature, the more light the plants need.
Of course, the most viable plants are those that are grown with moderate watering. When the soil is too dry, the sprouts may die, and if there is an excess of moisture in the soil, there is a high likelihood of the development of fungal diseases, such as blackleg. Hurt the seedlings and even destroy them
The high temperature after the emergence of seedlings leads to the pulling of seedlings can be watered with cold, not settled water. It is necessary to water the seedlings with water at room temperature. To stimulate growth and protect plants from root rot, you need to stock up with Previkur Energy.
Do not underestimate the role of fertilizing when growing seedlings. To grow good seedlings, plants need additional feeding, at least twice a day. Feeding can be done only after the plants have taken root and are touched to grow. Which fertilizers to use - complex (mineral or organic) or organic-mineral, you decide.
An important technique for growing seedlings is hardening. Two weeks before planting in open ground, plants are carried out to fresh air, first for two to three hours, then gradually increase the time. The last days the seedlings should be in the open air constantly. Two or three days after transplantation, the plants will shade from direct sunlight. Hardened seedlings quickly take root and subsequently reacts painlessly to various extreme conditions.
If properly care for the seedlings, they will grow healthy, strong, with a thick stem and a well-developed root system. Which means you get a bountiful harvest of your favorite vegetables.
