I bought in the store a delicious and beautiful large pepper.
If I collect fresh seeds from it, can they be sown this year? And how to improve their germination, because they say that it is desirable to take the seeds of the second year?

      - The germination of pepper seeds is largely dependent on the variety. Sometimes they bite even in the fruit. At the same time, in the third year of storage, the germination of pepper seeds is significantly reduced. In addition, the fruits are slightly unripe in the store. This is done so that they are stored longer.
Therefore, the seeds in them are most often underdeveloped and can germinate poorly. To improve germination, let the fruit ripen to a state until the flesh becomes flabby and completely soft. To do this, put the pepper in a warm dark place (for example, in a cardboard box closer to the battery). To speed up the process, you can put a ripe banana in a box. As a rule, it takes about a week to ripen. Then the seeds must be collected and dried.
You need to store them before sowing in a paper bag, and you can use them from the first year over the next 3-5 years. Before sowing, sanitize the seeds in a pink solution of potassium permanganate or a weak solution of hydrogen peroxide (1 tsp in 0 l of water). Then hold for 5-2 hours in a growth stimulator dissolved according to the instructions (Kornevin, Epin). This will help to get healthy and strong seedlings, but does not guarantee that as a result you will be able to grow the same fruits as they were in the store, since manufacturers often grow hybrid varieties. True, many gardeners say that they succeed. In any case, no one bothers you to conduct an experiment, and for safety, sow the seeds of proven varieties of pepper.

Why did these “snakes” grow inside the pepper? Is it possible to take seeds from such fruits?

Pepper is very demanding to heat, high intensity of illumination, soil fertility. It is best grown on light, well-structured soils. Plants are very sensitive to substrate temperature and air. Sudden changes in humidity and air temperature, flowering of plants at low temperatures, insufficient lighting or malnutrition can lead to various physiological disorders. In this case, we see that the walls of the fetus are deformed, outgrowths have appeared. Here the seeds are well developed, but often the stress experienced by the plant leads to their absence. Taking seeds from such fruits for sowing is undesirable.

However, one cannot fail to mention that such a result can be obtained by processing plantings with growth regulators. Preparations from the group of gibberellins, used in the budding phase - the beginning of flowering of pepper, can also lead to a similar result, but only in conjunction with violations of the temperature regime.
Normal, without deformations and outgrowths, the fruits of the pepper are formed if the seedlings are planted at the optimum time when the soil warms up above 15 ° and bypasses the danger of frost.
