Cherries alone will not yield a good harvest. The fact is that most varieties of this culture are self-fertile. When pollinated with their own pollen, at best they form ovaries only on 5% of flowers. But the so-called self-fertile varieties also do not give a 100% result: only 20-40% of the flowers are productive. Among them are partially self-fertile varieties (10-20%).

Therefore, cherries need pollinators growing at a distance of no more than 35-40 m, and they are different for each variety.
The fact is that these plants must have the same flowering time. This information is usually indicated in the variety profile. For example, for the Vladimirskaya variety, the best pollinators are Lyubskaya, Polevka and Zhukovskaya cherries.
It is worth noting that even for self-fertile varieties, the presence of other cherries nearby will be beneficial.

Poor weather conditions during the flowering period can also negatively affect the pollination of cherries. When the weather is too hot, the quality of the pollen decreases and it falls off faster. And bees carrying it do NOT fly in the cold.
