    BEIJING SEU IN JULY

I sow Peking cabbage seeds one at a time in a greenhouse after July 20. I adhere to the obligatory rule - no hilling and even the slightest raking of soil to plants when weeding and loosening row spacings. I noticed that after hilling, the Peking freezes in growth, may refuse to tie a head of cabbage or even begin to rot.

We always plant Beijing in early July. Last season, all deadlines were missed, but they were planted at random on August 1 on a bed freed from garlic. The soil was loose, we just leveled it, made holes every 20 cm and sowed two or three seeds. There was still room in the garden bed, and I also sowed green radish and daikon in two grooves. I sprinkled the bottom of the grooves with mustard: it came to mind that it was advised to sprinkle the holes with mustard or mustard cake from pests before planting.
Both cabbage and radish with daikon quickly grew. Due to the neglect of the garden, it was not possible to pay attention to them, I only watered and laid out nettles from slugs.
The radish is tasty and healthy, but it didn’t work to grow it - it’s always gnawed at us, the pests love it very much. And now we are digging at the end of September - so what? Nice clean radish, long daikon, and no wormholes! And all thanks to the mustard.

Peking cabbage also pleased me, I only had to cut off the upper leaves here and there, spoiled by slugs. We still eat it, we have never bought it in the store. We make a salad with tomatoes and vegetable oil from Peking cabbage.

Dear Readers! Tell me the secrets of growing Peking cabbage. The fact is that, although it grows large, with juicy leaves, the bushes turn out to be spreading, and not in the shape of a glass. I'm waiting, waiting, when, finally, the heads of cabbage begin to appear, and then suddenly you look - everything went into the arrow. Something is wrong here ...

    Autumn pie

I manage to harvest Peking cabbage 3-4 times per season. To protect the plants from the cruciferous flea, I sow seeds in a greenhouse with tomatoes (for this I leave space between the tomato bushes). The final sowing is done in September.
I feed the grown cabbage after watering with warm water with a mullein solution (1:10). I pour 1 liter of top dressing under each plant.
Sometimes I use yeast: I dilute 100 g of fresh yeast in 10 liters of lukewarm water, pour 1 liter under the plant.
TIP: To make the heads of cabbage better tied, I spray the Peking with a solution of boric acid (I dilute 2 g in 1 liter of hot water and bring the volume with clean cold water to 10 liters).

    Why Peking blooms
I’ve been trying to grow Beijing cabbage for several years, but it hasn’t come out yet. The heads of cabbage barely begin to tie, as the plants immediately go into bloom. Why?

One of the most common reasons that Beijing cabbage goes into bloom is the wrong place for the garden. Peking grows best in partial shade. A completely open area does not suit her.
In addition, it is important to choose the right landing time. If you plant seedlings in open ground too early - cabbage can bloom from the cold. If you do it late - from the heat.
Plants of zoned varieties are less likely to go color, so when choosing seeds, give preference to domestic producers.
Do not be late with cleaning. If you visit the cottage once a week, harvest earlier.
Cabbage may refuse to head out if you damage the roots when planting seedlings.
Lack of nutrition and moisture can also cause flowering.
