The right choice of varieties is almost half the success of growing berry bushes
The easiest way not to be mistaken is to take the cuttings of the variety you like from friends. But not all plants reproduce easily, and not everyone has generous neighbors). So you have to travel around the garden centers in search of interesting varieties.
Are old or new varieties of berry berries better?
Why give preference to new products or old, long-tested varieties? There is no single answer.
Old varieties have passed the test of time, the most reliable of them are widely used. However, they are not perfect: some are small, others are susceptible to disease, and others are inferior in taste. New items are usually distinguished by increased stability, excellent large-fruited, good keeping quality and portability.
But new items are new and have not yet passed a wide test in different growing conditions.
It is no secret that plants in different climatic and soil conditions can change economic characteristics. For example, extremely frost-resistant Siberian breeds often do not withstand mild winters of the middle zone with an endless alternation of thaws and sharp cooling. So, choosing new varieties, you involuntarily become a variety tester. For better or worse, you decide. In any case, it is important to consider the conditions of your site.
