I really love gladioli, but for two years now, in my country house, flowers have grown only in one color of pink. The neighbors are already laughing: “Look, Tamara Ivanovna, we have a specialist in pink gladioli!” But I don’t laugh at all. On the contrary, even tears welling up!
I buy bulbs of different varieties (burgundy, red, white, yellow) in a specialized horticultural center and on the market, and I choose only those in packages. I plant by all the rules, because the plants grow large. But in spite of this, they are all of just one bored color!

Dear gardeners, tell me, what am I doing wrong? Maybe you need to change the storage conditions of the bulbs? I wrap each in newsprint, but I keep all the varieties in one box, which I put on a fruit box in the refrigerator. Is this really the reason? Or did something happen to the soil? Please help me figure it out!

Last season I had a problem with gladioli - when the flowers began to bloom, the flower stalk broke and fell. Is it a disease or improper cultivation?

      - Inflorescences can break down with an unbalanced nutrition of gladiolus, and this usually occurs with an excess of nitrogen. Peduncle becomes weak, sparse, the distance between the buds
increases. "Overfed" flowers gain more mass than expected, as a result of the peduncle does not stand and breaks. Therefore, you should follow the recommendations for feeding these flowers. By the way, there is a drug for the strength of the stem - "Siliplant". It contains trace elements in a chelated form with silicon, which increases the strength of peduncles.

Tell me, is it possible to quickly grow bulbs from very small children of gladiolus, which will bloom next year?

There is nothing complicated about it. First of all, so that small children (and bulbs) wintered well, after the initial treatment they should be wiped with a cloth soaked in diesel fuel. This will protect planting material from diseases.
For germination, they take a box (30x10x7 cm), put wet sawdust on the bottom, and the children put one row on them. A thin layer of hay or dry grass is placed on top, and the box is tightly closed with glass. However, its bottom should have openings so that the planting material breathes.
Then the sprouted gladioli babies are laid in grooves pre-watered with water, sprinkled with dry earth with a layer of 1 cm, and the bed itself or the furrow is tightly covered with a film. As soon as friendly shoots appear, they remove it. If you grow bulbs in this way, you can achieve 100% germination.
