When one day I was presented with a gerbera for my birthday, there was no limit to happiness. I was not even embarrassed that it was autumn in the yard and the plant had to spend the winter at home.
In those days, the Internet was not so widespread, and information about flowers was most often passed on to each other by their lovers. So I found out that my beauty needs bright light and a cool (+ 12-14 degrees) winter is desirable. And if everything was in order with the first condition (southwestern under-window), then I could not provide a lower temperature. As a result, the bush quickly faded, stretched out, turned yellow. Since then, I have not planted a gerbera, but I remain indifferent to it, especially when I see a blooming one.

In the middle lane and northern regions, gerberas do not have enough lighting in winter, even on the brightest window sill. Therefore, it is desirable to reduce the temperature of the content from November to March. Watering in the cool should be reduced so that the earthen ball dries out, but without drying out. If it is impossible to maintain such conditions for wintering, then it is worth trying to change tactics: increase daylight hours to 14-15 hours (light up) and maintain the temperature of the soil and air at about + 20-22 degrees.

GERBERA - LITTLE SUN OF BIG DAISY
Bright sunny gerbera is one of the most popular flowers. These amazing "daisies" are incredibly diverse - they are red, raspberry, pink, white, cream, yellow, orange, terry or simple, with a dark or light disk in the middle. A symbol of joy, light and warmth, gerbera is a wonderful decoration and residential, and office space.

DO NOT TRUST FLOWERS TO HUSBANDS!
The husband swears that she made all the window sills and tables with pots. Well, I can’t deny myself the pleasure of buying or taking from friends a flower or sprout that I like! That's how the gerbera came to me
Jameson - a familiar saleswoman from a flower shop persuaded. She assured me that this is a special hybrid variety, which was specially bred so that the plant would bloom all year round. Could I refuse such a miracle?
It turned out that I got a rather capricious flower. The temperature of water and soil it needs stable all year round: 20 degrees. I measured it with a thermometer until I left my treasures on my husband for two days, and he didn’t give a damn about my instructions to water the gerbera with special water. There is still time to waste - I took it and poured it cold. Well, it was hot in the house, and because of the temperature difference, my chic "chamomile" almost died. For two weeks I nursed a lot - fortunately, I saved it.
You also need to monitor the soil and make top dressing very carefully. As I found out (again from my own experience), the plant hates compost and fresh humus, and also - if pests suddenly attacked it, and the gerbera has enough of them, mites, aphids, scale insects, mealybugs, then you can’t treat the leaves with alcohol, this will cause severe burns. But if you take care of the gerbera, pay attention to its requirements and keep men away from it, it will bloom for a long time and with special beauty.

When buying gerbera seeds, first of all, I pay attention to the shelf life (they retain germination for 6-8 months) and only then - to varietal characteristics. The end of December-January is the most suitable time for sowing. After all, this culture belongs to plants with a short daylight hours and blooms from late August to late autumn. My seedlings are just "ripening" by this time.

I pour a loose nutritious soil mixture into a shallow plastic bowl - leafy soil, peat and sand (2: 1: 1), lightly compact it and spill it with a hot solution of potassium permanganate. I spread the seeds i ia on the cooled surface of the substrate at a distance of 2 cm from each other, sprinkle with peat, with a layer of no more than 0; 5 cm: slightly compact. I cover the dish with the crops with a plastic bag and put it on the battery. Seedlings appear in 7-10 days. I dive them into separate cups.
