E.D. Silina writes about physalis (“Golden Miracle”). Elena Dmitrievna, sow physalis in the fall in the allotted area: it will sprout earlier and have time to ripen, and labor costs will be significantly reduced. I have been growing it for several years, and I have never dealt with seedlings - the berries remain in the garden and sprout like bristles in the spring. Physalis seeds germinate even after several decades!

This year, for the first time, I tried to grow vegetable physalis in a greenhouse. But something went wrong. The bush grew large, and the fruits appeared late and in small quantities. They will not have time to mature. Why did it happen? After all, physalis seeds, like tomatoes, were sown in early March ...

      - Firstly, most likely, you sowed the seeds of physalis of late varieties, which are more suitable for the southern regions. And it is better for residents of the middle lane to grow Peruvian, Strawberry, Columbus, Surprise varieties in a greenhouse.

Secondly, a small number of fruits indicates insufficient pollination. To avoid such a problem next time, open the vents and doors during the flowering period, lightly tap each plant once a day.

Physalis sowed at the end of February; Is it possible to deepen it? Or plant lying?

By its biological properties, physalis is close to a tomato and perfectly forms additional roots. Therefore, elongated seedlings can be planted lying down (in the northern regions), and in the south they can be buried to cotyledon leaves.
The optimal age for seedlings of strawberry physalis (varieties Zolotaya placer, Rakhat-lokum, Filantrop, etc.) is 35-45 days. For a Mexican vegetable (varieties Pineapple, Jam, Confectioner, Korolek, Gourmand, etc.) 30-35 days. In the Central Black Earth region and to the south, seeds can be sown directly into the ground. And only a vigorous Peruvian physalis with a long growing season (varieties Kudesnik, Columbus, etc.) is sown for seedlings in late February.
