    During the pink bud phase and immediately after flowering, I sprayed the fruit trees with tar water.
    Recipe: 10 liters of water, 2 tsp. tar and 1/3 bar of laundry soap.
    And before flowering began, I hung plastic bottles with the same water, but without soap. Result: the garden is intact, the harvest is excellent. In addition to apple trees, he processed pears and apricots. The method is effective and working.

    Three measures from the codling moth

    In June, protect the garden from the codling moth. Three simple steps will help you fight the pest.
    1. Collect fallen fruits daily in the evenings - this way you can destroy a significant number of codling moth caterpillars.
    2. Do not forget about hunting belts (about 20 cm wide) made of strong thick paper, corrugated cardboard, burlap. In cool summers, hunting belts can be viewed relatively rarely. In hot weather, belts should be checked every 10-12 days.
    3. Use drugs. If there are few codling moth caterpillars, biologics fieri idocid and Bitoxibacillin will help. But if there are quite a lot of pests, you will have to spray the trees with an insecticide (Decis, Karate, Tsimbush, Fufanon) according to the instructions. In rainy summers, if there is a threat of scab development, add a fungicide to the preparation. This will help stop the development of fruit rot.

    Let's get rid of the weed

    The codling moth is the main pest in the apple orchard. To get rid of it, I use trapping belts. I prepare them on the basis of the so-called caterpillar non-drying glue: I mix heated vegetable oil (200 ml) with crushed pine resin (150 g), gradually pour in turpentine (100 ml) and add grease (0 tbsp.). I thickly spread the glue prepared in this way on strips of parchment paper 5-15 cm wide and fix them on the boles of fruit trees with a sticky layer up.

      I cut a sheet of thin foam rubber into strips about 20 cm wide and the length necessary to girth the tree trunk. I smear with tar on one side and fix it on the trunk with a polyethylene tape. I put on belts in March-April. Two or three times during the summer I change them for fresh ones. I shoot at the end of September. There are fewer pests in the garden every year.

    In late June-early July, codling moth butterflies can be lured using purchased pheromone sticky traps or home-made ones with fermented jam, juice, kvass, which are hung in the crown of trees (butterflies that have flocked to the aroma will fall into the liquid and drown). Here is one of the bait liquid recipes: 200-300 g of rye bread crusts, 3 tbsp. sugar and a little yeast, pour water, cover with gauze and put the container in heat. Fermented kvass is bottled and used as bait.

    A cute butterfly flutters around and slowly lays its eggs almost all summer, from the moment flowering begins. Somewhere in July-August, the second generation lays eggs in the pouring fruits. In wet weather, damaged apples and pears are the first to be spoiled by fruit rot.
    Too bad for the cherry. The berries, in which the codling moth caterpillar grows, hastily “ripen” and fall. Therefore, my parents and I regularly shake them off so that at least there are no sick people on the tree.

    The codling moth is attracted by the smell of fermenting and sour sugar, any cheap beer, kvass, compote is well suited. We pour this drink into jars and bottles, preferably yellow, and hang several pieces in the crowns of trees. Smelling the smell of their favorite drinks, butterflies fly into traps and drown. Once a week, you need to drain the liquid, discard the butterflies and top up with a new one. We also tried to pour kvass or compote into basins, they are more effective than cans. But more debris gets there, and the liquid dries faster.

    Codling film

    When I read about all the stages of development of the codling moth, I decided to try out an interesting way to deal with it. The fact is that the caterpillars of the codling moth, having prepared for the pupation stage, gnaw through the wall of the fetus and fall to the ground, after which they burrow into the soil and pupate there. How to block their path to the soil, prompted me by chance. Under one of the apple trees I had a deck of water for irrigation, in which caterpillars of the codling moths fell and died. This gave me the idea: what if under the apple trees spread and fix the plastic film to block the tracks in the soil? That's exactly what I did. On the film, the caterpillars are helpless and clearly visible to birds who were not slow to take advantage of this. In addition, the film protects the soil from weeds and moisture loss.
    I think that this method of combating the codling moth will be effective even in collective gardens, where some negligent gardeners create a nursery for pests.
    In a village where far from everyone has gardens and is also far removed from each other, my method of combating the codling moth showed very high efficiency.

    Last year, a moth attacked the apple tree. Perhaps the reason is that the summer of the past season turned out to be hot? In our area, I came across this for the first time. How to avoid this scourge in the future?

      - Indeed, the weather in the summer of 2018 was favorable for the development of most pests of fruit crops. Many of them managed to give two or more generations. Those gardeners did the right thing, who, after harvesting and in the subsequent autumn period, carried out preventive measures to combat pests and diseases of garden plants: cut dry and damaged branches; removed from the plot and burned (or composted) leaves and affected fruits; in late autumn, sprayed the crowns and trunks with 8-10% urea solution (800-10 ° g per 10 liters of water); whitened the mushrooms.
      To prevent the spread of diseases and pests in the new season, I advise the following:
      - In early spring, before buds open, clear the stems from dead bark, mosses and lichens;
      - spray tree crowns with 3% Bordeaux liquid (300 g per 10 l of water) - this is the so-called “blue spraying”;
      - put on belts hunting belts;
      - treat the trees with an insecticide before flowering (Actellik, Kin-mix, Inta-Vir - according to the instructions).

    In the fight against pests in the garden there is a great helper - soda ash.
    I prepare a solution from it: I take 30-40 g of soda, 40 g of liquid soap, 10 l of water. I dissolve soda in warm water and add soap. I use it to treat berry bushes against powdery mildew and as a deterrent from raspberry-strawberry weevil.

    You can prepare a more concentrated solution. For it, you will need 70 g of soda, 20 g of liquid soap, 10 l of water, it is prepared in the same way as the first recipe. With this tool I spray plants against the mucous sawfly.
