I tried to root the cuttings of varietal garden roses. But only a few took root. What am I doing wrong?

      - Failures with the survival of cuttings can be both the result of improper care, and the characteristics of the variety. Climbing roses are most successful for propagating by cuttings. Cuttings of scrubs and floribunda are also well rooted.
The best time for procuring material is the second half of summer. Take the cutle from the middle or top of the shoot. It should have a thickness of not more than 5-7 mm. Clean it from the spikes and cut into segments with 2-3 well-formed kidneys. It is advisable to completely remove the leaves. Before planting, dust the lower section with growth regulators (Kornevin, Heteroauxin). You can root in a mixture of sand or perlite and peat (1: 1).

The leaves of the rose, like a sieve, in small holes, begin to dry. Is it a disease or attacked by pests?

      - Most likely, the pests chose the rose: such damage is typical for representatives of the genus sawflies (it can be both a rosacea sawfly, a rosaceous mucilax sawfly, and other species). The plant is not affected by adults, but by insect larvae. Treat the rose with one of the preparations: Aktara, KE (8 g / 10 L of water), Karate Zeon, ISS (8 ml / 10 L of water), Karachar, KE (7 ml / 10 L of water). The treatment is carried out by the foliar method, carefully so that all parts of the plant are well moistened with the drug (pay special attention to the underside of the leaves). Re-treatment can be carried out after 10-14 days as foliar and root (for this, the drug "Aktara" is suitable).
