MYSTERIOUS TOBACCO SANDER - LANDING AND CARE
A variety of fragrant tobacco with an unusual blue color intrigued me at first sight, and last year I decided to experiment. Since there were only five tiny seeds in the bag, I sowed them (I did this in early April) in peat tablets.
MY SECRET
I prepare the tablets this way: I dip them in a bowl of hot water (while I hold my finger), into which I add a couple of drops of the Fitosporin solution for disinfection. I wait until they are completely swollen, “squeeze” a little and sow the seeds in still warm ones using a wet toothpick.
SHOWER TOBACCO - CARE FEATURES
Made crops in a transparent and completely sealed container, kept a couple of days in a warm place, and then transferred to a cooler light window sill. Five days later, shoots appeared.
To prevent the tablets from drying out, the container did not open until the first real leaf appeared in the seedlings. In conditions of 100% humidity, I almost did not have to additionally water the plant. But in the evenings and in cloudy weather it illuminated them with a phytolamp.
Three weeks after germination, she noticed rootlets sprouted through the membrane. Passed seedlings into pots (I use transportation P9) with a mixture of soil based on purchased peat (adding 1/3 humus to it). I took it out to the greenhouse and kept it in a tied plastic bag for acclimatization for a couple of days.
After these procedures, tobacco began to grow by leaps and bounds. She fed it once a week (Gumi Kuznetsova, 1 drop / 100 ml) and soon saw the first buds on the bushes.
Then the grown seedlings crossed into permanent "houses" - pots with a volume of 3, 5 liters. During the summer, regularly watered and fed.
The flowers of the mysterious “blue” tobacco Sander turned out to be a deep velvety dark purple hue with a charming aroma in the evenings. I enjoyed it until the end of summer, and after flowering I gathered seeds for new crops.
TOBACCO GROWING - TIPS AND SECRETS TO KEEP GARDENING
WE GROW NON-SMOKING TOBACCO
I love decorative tobacco because it fills my flower garden and the space around with an amazing aroma. But this plant is not deprived of beauty either - expressive five-petal flowers resemble stars. Petals come in different colors: pink, purple, yellowish green, light green, white ...
SECRETS OF GROWING TOBACCO
Tobacco Sander and fragrant I grow in seedlings (I start sowing seeds in March).
The seeds are small, so I sow them superficially on moist, loose soil based on garden or soddy soil, humus, peat, sand in a ratio of 2:2:2:1.
At a temperature of + 23-25 degrees, shoots appear within a week. The main thing is to put the bowls with crops in a bright place (but not under direct sunlight). If you keep containers with crops in poor light, the seeds will germinate for a very long time, if not at all.
After the emergence of seedlings, I put the bowls in a cooler place (+ 18-20 degrees).
In the phase of 2-3 leaves, I carefully pick up the tobacco without covering the center of the leaf rosette with soil. V seedlings I pinch the tops (to stimulate the formation of side shoots).
Tobacco sander and some compact varieties of fragrant T. I plant in containers, the rest of the hardened seedlings - in open ground (at the end of May).
I used to plant tobacco exclusively in an open, sunny place, but in hot weather the plants often lost turgor (although they quickly recovered after watering). Then I noticed that in partial shade the flowers feel quite comfortable.
The soil must be fertile (pH neutral).
Tobacco has a weak root system that is unable to extract moisture from the deep layers of the soil, so I water the plantings regularly.
My tobaccos delight me with super-abundant flowering throughout the summer until the fall. To do this, I feed the plants every 14 days with Fertika-Lux (according to the instructions).

This year I managed to grow scented tobacco! The fact is that for two years in a row nothing worked for me. I bought seeds, sowed, and real smoking tobacco grew. Nice, but not that. The next year the seeds did not sprout at all, and only the third attempt was crowned with success.
The seeds were sown in March in a box. I did not sprinkle it with earth, since they are small in tobacco, and covered it with foil. They went up together, I watered them, ventilated them - everything is as usual.
When it was warm, I dropped it off in the garden. And here a surprise awaited me. The fact is that I planted one plant near the porch and there were no problems with it, and I planted the rest not far from the potatoes. And they were almost destroyed by the Colorades.
I had to sprinkle the tobacco with red pepper, since there was no remedy for the beetle at that moment at home. Later, the husband processed the potatoes, and part of the drug ended up in tobacco.
The pests retreated, and the tobacco started to grow, and how quickly! And when it bloomed, it was like in a fairy tale - like huge stars lit up. Flowers bloom in the evening and emit a captivating aroma. Such that the soul becomes good and joyful ...
Flowers of scented tobacco of various colors - white, crimson, pink, burgundy. And every day more and more of them are blooming. Plant this amazing plant in your home!

Sweet tobacco is a poisonous bait for the Colorado potato beetle. If you plant seedlings near potato plantings, then within a radius of 5 to 50 m (depending on local conditions) there will not be a single Colorado potato beetle on the potato. They will all be on fragrant tobacco and will not lay their eggs on young tops.
