Correct planting of mulberries in autumn and post-plant care

AUTUMN SILK SEEDING
Today, mulberries are rarely found on personal plots. But having planted it, you will not regret: mulberries are very useful!
You can plant the plant in the coming autumn (in September - early October). More often than others, gardeners grow white and black mulberries.
The latter has black or cherry-colored fruits, and the bark of the tree is dark. The bark of the white mulberry is lighter, and its fruits are red or pink. Mulberry bears fruit well only on fertile land with good lighting and in a place protected from northern and eastern winds.
FEATURES OF SILK SEEDING
Prepare holes (80x60 cm) one month before planting. Cover the bottom with soil from the upper fertile layer, adding to each pit 2-3 buckets of humus or compost, 60-80 g of superphosphate and 40-50 g of potassium chloride or 150 g of complex fertilizer (mix everything thoroughly). It is advisable not to cut the roots when planting.
IRRIGATION AND SILK FEEDING
Watering is necessary only in severe drought. In April, apply complex mineral fertilizer for loosening and mulch the near-trunk circle with rotted manure or compost.
When the mulberry begins to bear fruit, one feeding in the budding phase is enough - 30-50 g of nitrophoska per 1 sq.m. If necessary (on poor soil), repeat feeding in the first half of June. Simultaneously with watering, mullein solution (1: 6) does not interfere.
CUTTING AND FORMING
It is better to grow mulberries in the form of a bush, limiting the height to 3 m.To do this, next spring after planting, cut the top directly above three to four upper powerful lateral shoots at a height of 1,3-1,7 m from the ground and form a skeleton of 8-10 branches (like a low-stemmed apple tree).
The crown must then develop naturally. Pluck out unwanted shoots in a timely manner.
Pruning a well-formed tree is minimal: in March, cut out branches growing inward, criss-crossing, broken. In summer, remove diseased and damaged branches, as well as young shoots that thicken the crown.
WHEN DOES SILKEN BEGIN FRUIT?
Mulberry bears fruit in the 5th year, but the berries are small at first. They grow larger when the tree is 8-9 years old. Harvesting, contrary to popular belief, is not difficult. Ripe, the berries crumble themselves. Therefore, it is enough to spread a cloth of silt and a film on the ground.
